Landgraaf is a railway station in Landgraaf, Netherlands, situated near the district Schaesberg. Before 1986, it was called Schaesberg. The station was opened on 1 May 1896 and is located on the Sittard–Herzogenrath railway and the Heuvellandlijn (Maastricht–Kerkrade). Services are operated by Arriva and Deutsche Bahn.

Landgraaf (Dutch: [ˈlɑntxraːf] ; Limburgish: Lankgraaf [ˈlɑŋkxʀaːf]) is a municipality in southeastern Limburg, Netherlands, forming part of the Parkstad Limburg agglomeration. Snow World is the largest indoor ski piste in Europe.

Schaesberg (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsxaːzbɛr(ə)x]; Limburgish: D'r Sjeet [dəʀ ˈʃeːt]) is a neighbourhood of Landgraaf and former village in the Dutch province of Limburg.

Pinkpop is an annual music festival held at Landgraaf, Netherlands. It is usually held on the Pentecost weekend (Pinksteren in Dutch, hence the name). If Pentecost falls on an early date in May, the festival is held later in June. Starting in 1970, at Burgemeester Damen Sportpark in the city of Geleen, Pinkpop is the oldest and longest running annual dedicated pop and rock music festival in the world.Pinkpop is a three-day festival, from Saturday through Monday when on Pentecost weekend, or Friday through Sunday otherwise, with a 60,000 people per day capacity, and with performances on four separate stages. From 2006 through 2011, Pinkpop sold out six years in a row. During 44 editions, more than two million people have attended Pinkpop. Some 700 music acts have played at the festival.In 1994 (the 25th edition), it was decided to sell only 60,000 tickets, to prevent overcrowding due to the popularity of the festival. In 1995, it was made into a two-day festival. Two years later this was further expanded to three days. 2007 saw a spin-off, later in the year, on 11 August, called Pinkpop Classic, for an older rock audience, with bands that had previously performed at the festival in past decades. This spin-off was held again in following years, with the exception of 2011, when the organisation was not able to book enough artists. In 2008, Pinkpop was not held on Pentecost weekend for the first time. Pentecost occurred too early that year for the convenience of fans and performers alike. This was decided following the 2005 edition, in which the Pentecost weekend also fell early and therefore Pinkpop could not convince many great performers to come play at the festival. Sales were disappointing in 2005, so by shifting the 2008 festival, the organisation hoped to solve these problems. Pinkpop 2008 turned out to have had the largest concert attendance to date. The dates for the 2010, 2013, 2015 and 2016 edition have been shifted as well, for similar reasons. The 2020 and 2021 Pinkpop festivals were not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nieuwenhagen is a former village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is now a part of the municipality of Landgraaf. Nieuwenhagen was a separate municipality until 1982, when it became a part of Landgraaf.

Heerlen De Kissel was a railway station in Heerlen, Netherlands.

Molenberg (literally Millhill) is a former mining colony in the south-western part of Heerlen, southeastern Netherlands. When work started in 1913 it was called Molenbergpark (Millhillpark).The mining colony was created to house mining executives (alongside the slope of the hill, towards the centre of Heerlen), engineers (alongside the mean road), and miners.Although much of the plan logical work was done by architect Jan Stuyt, there are/were also buildings designed by Frits Peutz (Land house attorney Wijnands, 1919, the Broederschool (school building) 1921, Kapel Broederhuis, 1932), Theo Boosten (church Pius X (now demolished), 1961), and C. Franssen & J. Franssen (church Verschijning van de Onbevlekte Maagd, 1926).The first house were completed in 1916, in 1918 a second project was started, and between 1928-1938 the centre of Molenberg was filled.In 1951 the construction of another part was started, called the "Witte Wijk", designed by Jos Klijnen.

Heerlerbaan (Limburgish: Heëlebaan) is a former Dutch village located in the commune of Heerlen, in the province of Dutch Limburg. On 1 January 2008, the area, including the former village had 9872 inhabitants.

The Monseigneur Schrijnen Retreat House was designed by the famed architect Frits Peutz (best known for the Glaspaleis) in 1932, and named after the 18th bishop of Roermond Laurentius Josephus Antonius Hubertus Schrijnen (Venlo 30 July 1861 - Roermond 26 March 1932). It is located at the top of one of the steepest hills in Heerlen next to the Molenberg and surrounded by the Aambos (a forest). It is one of the biggest buildings designed by Peutz.

The Staatsmijn Wilhelmina was the first and the smallest of the Dutch state owned mines. It produced coal for domestic use, as its near neighbours, the Laura Mine, Oranje Nassau II, Willem-Sophia, and Domaniale Mijn. The concession of the mine was bordered by the privately owned mines mentioned above. After a few decades the mine could not be extended sideways, so the only way to keep production up was going deeper, this in contrast to the large Emma, Hendrik and Maurits mines.

On the morning of 10 August 1998, 11-year-old Nicky Verstappen disappeared from a summer camp he was attending in Brunssum, Limburg. His body was found on the evening of 11 August, 1.2 kilometres (0.75 mi) away in Landgraaf, and a murder investigation was subsequently launched. Despite extensive investigation, the case remained unsolved for over twenty years. Joseph Theresia Johannes "Jos" B. (born 29 October 1962) stood trial for the killing of Verstappen in 2020. He was arrested on 26 August 2018 in Spain after DNA from his belongings and relatives matched samples taken from Verstappen's clothing, following the largest DNA-harvesting operation in Dutch history. On 20 November 2020, B. was acquitted of manslaughter, but found guilty of the kidnapping and sexual abuse that led to Verstappen's death, as well as of possession of child pornography. He was sentenced to twelve-and-a-half years' imprisonment. On 28 January 2022, an appeal court convicted B. on a charge of manslaughter and sentenced him to 16 years.

The Oliemolen (literally Oilmill) is a 16th-century watermill located at the foot of a steep hill in the Aambos, Heerlen in the Netherlands. The name already tells us much about its function, extracting oil, but this was not always the case as it first functioned as a volmolen (a mill to press wool). The mill is fed by the Caumerbeek. A copy, dating to May 31, 1710, of the original deed exists, indicating the mill was founded on May 9, 1502, commissioned by the family Van Scheasberg. However, names of notables on the deed do not correlate with the people in those positions in the beginning of the 16th century; possibly a "0" was mistaken for a "6", making the founding year 1562.In 1829 a license was granted for the mill to mill grain, which became the only use of the mill in 1904.
