The Université Libre de Kinshasa (French; lit. 'Free University of Kinshasa', known as ULK) is a private university in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was established on 15 October 1988. It was the first private secular university in the DRC.

Mont Amba is an area of the capital city of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, comprising five of the city-province's twenty-four administrative divisions—the communes of Kisenso, Lemba, Limete, Matete and Ngaba. It is one of the four so-called districts of Kinshasa. These were the administrative divisions of Kinshasa during much of the Mobutu years (1965-1997) and around which a number of government systems and services are still organized. For instance, Mont Amba makes up an eleven-member National Assembly constituency designated as Kinshasa III. However, these districts are not part of Congo's territorial organization.Mont Amba takes its name from the hill in its extreme southwest on which the main campus of the University of Kinshasa is situated. Its western border rises from there to the Congo river east of the downtown district. It is separated from the Tshangu District further to the east by the Ndjili River. Mont Amba is home to several parts of the University of Kinshasa, including the regional center for nuclear research. As of March 2011, the reactor at this center had not been operational for several years. The Mont Amba Medical Center in Lemba is a teaching hospital for the university. In June 2011 the first plastic surgery clinic in the DRC was opened at the hospital, primarily for the treatment of children who had been burned.

La Cité du Fleuve is a planned neighborhood on the outskirts of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, being constructed on land reclaimed from the Congo River. La Cité du Fleuve began as a dream in early 2008. In June 2009 the reclamation and construction work began. Today, land is being reclaimed in preparation for a showhouse, which will be built while land for the rest of Phase 1 is being reclaimed. A planned development situated on reclaimed land space in the sandbanks and marshes of the Congo river, directly adjacent to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the development will be linked to the main land by roads leading to the city and to the airport. Upon completion, the new island which is still under development is anticipating at least 250,000 residents. As of November 2015 this project is only 20% completed, and 35 380 had to be subdivided, for an investment that already exceeds US$100 million. Due to the site location and attractive apartment flagship conditions of acquisition, the project is very advanced. To make this project accessible to the Congolese middle class, French-Lebanese businessman Robert Choudury will shortly be opening a bank on the island. The real estate bank of the river will be the first bank in Congo to issue loans to people wishing to purchase a home on credit. At least 40 buildings more than 10 story high are currently under construction in the city center. The city will also have an independent source of energy generated specifically for the city.

The Limete Tower (also known as French: Tour de l'Échangeur; "Interchange Tower" or French: Tour des Héros nationaux du Congo; "Tower of the National Heroes of Congo") is a tower located in the commune of Limete in Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The Ndjili River is a river that flows from the south through the capital city of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where it joins the Congo River. It separates the districts of Tshangu and Mont Amba. The river gives its name to the Ndjili commune and to the Ndjili International Airport.

Kalamu is a municipality (commune) in the Funa district of Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.It forms the part of the city to the south of major buildings such as the Palais du Peuple ("Palace of the People"), the Stade des Martyrs ("Martyrs' Stadium") and Kinshasa's N'Dolo Airport. The town contains the popular Matongé neighborhood, the Victoire roundabout and the Stade Tata Raphaël ("Father Raphael Stadium").

Stade Tata Raphaël (Father Raphael Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Originally known as Stade Roi Baudouin (King Baudouin Stadium) when it was inaugurated in 1952 and Stade du 20 Mai (20 May Stadium) in 1967, it was used mostly for football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 80,000 people.

The 2014 Stade Tata Raphaël disaster refers to a stampede that occurred in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, at the Stade Tata Raphaël on 11 May 2014. During the match between Congolese football clubs TP Mazembe and Vita Club, missiles were thrown onto the pitch and the referee chose to delay play. Fifteen people died after police launched tear gas into the stands causing a stampede. A police source who declined to be named put the death toll higher, at 18. Governor Andre Kimbuta said at least 24 other people were injured during the melee that followed.Supporters were said to have been blinded by the gas, with the panic and confusion contributing to the collapse of a stadium wall. Suffocation was reported to have been the cause of death in most instances.

George Foreman vs. Muhammad Ali, billed as The Rumble in the Jungle, was a heavyweight championship boxing match on October 30, 1974, at the 20th of May Stadium (now the Stade Tata Raphaël) in Kinshasa, Zaire (now Democratic Republic of the Congo), between undefeated and undisputed heavyweight champion George Foreman and Muhammad Ali. The event had an attendance of 60,000 people with nearly 28% of U.S population watching at one time. Ali won by knockout in the eighth round. It has been called "arguably the greatest sporting event of the 20th century" and was a major upset, with Ali coming in as a 4–1 underdog against the unbeaten, heavy-hitting Foreman. The fight is famous for Ali's introduction of the rope-a-dope tactic.Some sources estimate that the fight was watched by as many as one billion television viewers around the world, becoming the world's most-watched live television broadcast at the time. This included a record estimated 50 million viewers watching the fight on pay-per-view or closed-circuit theatre TV. The fight grossed an estimated $100 million (inflation-adjusted $500 million) in worldwide revenue. Decades later, the bout would be the subject of the Academy Award winning documentary film When We Were Kings.

Matonge, or Matongé, is a notable neighbourhood in the north of the commune of Kalamu within the city of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Situated between the Victoire quarter and the Stade Tata Raphaël, it is one of the principal locations of Kinshasa's nightlife, with many bars and restaurants. There are also several recording studios based in the quarter. It is best known as a cultural and musical center of Congolese music, from where groups such as Papa Wemba's Viva La Musica launched the musical careers of numerous figures including Koffi Olomidé and King Kester Emeneya. During the colonial period, the area was called Renkin.

Kalamu is a commune of the city of Boma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Ngaba is a municipality (commune) in the Mont Amba district of Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.It is situated in the south of Kinshasa. Settlement in this hilled area is relatively new.
