Bilsthorpe

Bilsthorpe Moor is a hamlet in the civil parish of Bilsthorpe, in the Newark and Sherwood district of Nottinghamshire, England. It is 120 miles north of London, 13 miles north east of the city of Nottingham, and 5 miles south of Ollerton, and close to the junction of the A614 and A617 roads.

Bilsthorpe Colliery was a colliery in north Nottinghamshire. From when work started in 1925 to the pits closure in 1997, 77 people died at the pit.

Farnsfield is a large village and civil parish in Nottinghamshire in Sherwood Forest. It is in the local government district of Newark and Sherwood. The population of the civil parish as at the 2011 Census was 2,731, an increase from 2,681 in the United Kingdom Census 2001. The village lies in a predominantly farming area. There is no major industry or employer within Farnsfield. The majority of residents of working age commute to work, mostly to Nottingham, Mansfield or Newark. Farnsfield's facilities include a small Co-op supermarket and Post Office, a village bakery, butcher, greengrocer, and other small shops. The village has two churches (Anglican and Methodist), a large primary school, and two public houses (The Plough Inn and The Lion). The Southwell Trail, a former railway line dating to 1842 and now adapted as a multi-user route for foot, cycle and horseback use, passes immediately to the north of the village. A free car park for the trail is located off Station Lane. In 1944, during World War II, an RAF Halifax bomber MZ519-LKU crashed on the south side of the village. All on board were killed. The site of the crash has a large memorial.

Robin Hoods Wheelgate Park is a 30-acre family theme park and water park in Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire, England. The park includes two large indoor play centres, a farm and a water park.Formerly known as Wonderland Adventure Park, in 2007 the park became part of Bendalls Leisure which also owns Twinlakes Theme Park in Melton Mowbray and Woodlands Family Theme Park in Devon. The name changed to Wheelgate Park together with redevelopment and expansion. In December 2012, it became "Robin Hoods Wheelgate Park" after development to build a water-park which opened at the beginning of 2013. The site is also a location for UK Escape Games.

Rufford, in Nottinghamshire, is the site of two villages whose inhabitants were evicted in the 12th century. Cistercian monasteries were established and the monks wished to ensure their isolation.The area is centred around Rufford Abbey, a large country estate. and adjacent Rufford Country Park, a leisure amenity run by Nottinghamshire County Council.

Rufford Abbey is a country estate in Rufford, Nottinghamshire, England, two miles (4 km) south of Ollerton. Originally a Cistercian abbey, it was converted to a country house in the 16th century after King Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries. Part of the house was demolished in the 20th century, but the remains, standing in 150 acres of park and woodland, are open to the public as Rufford Country Park. Part of the park is a local nature reserve.The house itself is constructed of rubble, brick, dressed stone and ashlar with ashlar dressings and plain tile roofs. It is Grade I listed and scheduled as an Ancient Monument.

Edwinstowe is a village and civil parish in the Newark and Sherwood district of Nottinghamshire, England, on the edge of Sherwood Forest. It is associated with the legends of Robin Hood and Maid Marian and known for the proximity of the former Thoresby Colliery. The civil parish population at the 2011 census was 5,188. A 2019 estimate put it at 5,261.

Eakring is a village and civil parish in the Newark and Sherwood district of Nottinghamshire, England. Its population at the 2011 census was 419, and this increased to 440 residents for the 2021 census. There was sizeable oil production there in the mid-20th century.

The county saw a minor change in its boundaries as Finningley was transferred to the City of Doncaster in South Yorkshire.
