Sinclairs Bay

The Battle of Champions was a trial by combat fought in 1478 or 1464 between two Scottish clans, Clan Gunn and Clan Keith. It took place at the chapel of St Tears (St Tayre) on the coast north of Wick in Caithness, between Ackergill Tower and Girnigoe Castle. It was arranged to settle a dispute with a battle between twelve men on horseback on either side. However, the Keiths arrived with two men on each of their twelve horses, and massacred the 12 Gunns. The clans finally signed a treaty of friendship in 1978, ending the feud after 500 years.

Ackergill Lifeboat Station is located at Ackergill Harbour, Highland, in the NE corner of Scotland near the town of Wick, in the historic county of Caithness. A lifeboat was first stationed here by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) station in 1877. After 54 years, the station closed in 1932.

Keiss Castle is a partially ruined castle in Scotland, which stands on sheer cliffs overlooking Sinclair's Bay less than one mile north of Keiss village centre, Caithness, Highland, Scotland. It is protected as a scheduled monument. The old castle was replaced by Keiss House around 1755. The castle was constructed as a Z-plan tower house with 4 floors plus an attic and a vaulted basement. It had a pair of corner towers at opposite angles of a square central block, the main tower being very narrow for its height with tall chimneystacks.

Ackergill Tower (or Ackergill Castle) is located on the coast of Sinclair's Bay, about 2.5 miles (4.0 km) north of Wick, Caithness, in northern Scotland. It was built in the early 16th century, and is a Category A listed building. The building is a five-storey oblong tower house. The four-storey wing to the rear was added in the early 18th century. From 2014, Ackergill Tower was operated as an events and wedding venue by AmaZing Venues, before being sold to American philanthropist Dr Betsee Parker in February 2019.

Castle Sinclair Girnigoe is located about 3 miles north of Wick on the east coast of Caithness, Scotland. It is considered to be one of the earliest seats of Clan Sinclair. It comprises the ruins of two castles: the 15th-century Castle Girnigoe; and the early 17th-century Castle Sinclair. They are designated as a scheduled monument. Keiss (Scottish Gaelic: Cèis) is a fishing village at the northern end of Sinclair's Bay on the east coast of Caithness county in Scotland's Highland Council area.

Wick Golf Club was established in 1870, making it the oldest established golf club in the Highlands of Scotland. Located in Caithness, 3 miles north of the town of Wick, it is one of the most northerly courses in mainland UK. The course is a traditional 18 hole link layout consisting 9 holes out and 9 back to the clubhouse.

The Wester Pipe Railway is a narrow gauge railway that runs from Hastigrow on the B876 road to Westerloch on the A99, all within Caithness. The line is double track for most of the route and uses Metre gauge. It is used to transport pipeline segments to the sea. It is the second northernmost railway in the United Kingdom with the first being the spur to Thurso on the Far North Line.

Reiss is a village in the former county of Caithness, now in the Highland council area of northern Scotland. It is well known in the Caithness area for its beach and also the 18-hole Wick golf course. It is 3 miles (4.8 km) north of Wick and 15 miles (24 km) south of John o' Groats. Reiss is mainly made up of two areas, the Reiss Village and Nordwall Park housing areas. Added to this there are various houses dotted through the area, as well as a trailer park.

Wick John O' Groats Airport (IATA: WIC, ICAO: EGPC) (Scottish Gaelic: Port-adhair Inbhir Ùige Taigh Iain Ghròt) is located one nautical mile (two kilometres) north of the town of Wick, at the north-eastern extremity of the mainland of Scotland. It is owned and maintained by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited. The airport provides commercial air travel connections for Caithness, with scheduled services to Aberdeen Airport and, until early 2020, Edinburgh. It remains regularly used by helicopters servicing local offshore oil operations and the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm. It also serves as a stop-over for light aircraft ferry flights between Europe and North America via Iceland. The airport also operates an out of hours call-out service for air ambulances, coastguard and police flights. The has one usable runway. Two are disused.

Noss Head is a headland on the north-west coast of Scotland that overlooks Sinclairs Bay. It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) north-east of Wick in Caithness, in the Highland council area of Scotland. Noss Head was first mentioned in the historical record as early as the 2nd century AD by Greek geographer Ptolemaios as Verubium Promontorium.
