Vollmarshausen

Lohfelden is a municipality in the district of Kassel, in Hesse, Germany. It is situated 6 km southeast of Kassel. It has three parts Crumbach, Ochsenhausen and the former independent Vollmarshausen.

Kommune Niederkaufungen is one of the largest intentional communities in Germany. Founded in 1986, it is an egalitarian, left-wing, income-sharing commune with consensus decision-making. It is situated in a complex of former farm buildings in the historic centre of the village of Niederkaufungen (Kaufungen), seven kilometres from the city of Kassel (Hessen). It has grown from 15 founder members to 62 adults and nearly 20 children and teenagers (2009). It is a member of "Kommuja", the German network of political communes and egalitarian communities.

Bundesautobahn 44 (translates from German as Federal Motorway 44, short form Autobahn 44, abbreviated as BAB 44 or A 44) is a German Autobahn. It consists of three main parts and a few smaller parts. It begins in Aachen at the German–Belgian border (Belgian motorway A3) and ends near Kassel (Bundesautobahn 7). Before the German unification it was an regional motorway. In the 1990s, it became an integral part of the German motorway system. The A 44 is a highly frequented link between the Rhine-Ruhr-Area and the new German states, especially Thuringia, and by proxy, eastern European states like Poland.

Niestetal is a municipality in the district of Kassel, in Hesse, Germany. It is situated on the eastern bank of the Fulda, 4 km east of Kassel (centre).

During World War II, the Motorenbau Werk Kassel (Engine Construction Factory Kassel – MWK) in Kassel was a branch factory of the Junkers Flugzeug- und Motorenwerke AG Dessau and supplier for strategic military technology among other things the first ready for serial production Turbostrahltriebwerk Jumo 004B (jet engine) of the world. In 1945, when the factory was occupied by the American troops, more than 5000 people worked there. In 1948 the site and buildings were used by AEG, in 1951 AEG purchased the site.

Kaufungen is a municipality in the district of Kassel, in Hesse, Germany. It is situated in the narrow valley of the river Losse, surrounded by the steep, wooded hills of the Kaufunger Wald, approx. 10 kilometres east of Kassel.

The Söhre (also called the Söhrewald) is a forested hill range of the German Central Uplands and a subordinate natural region of the Fulda-Werra Uplands (major unit 357) in North Hesse, Germany. From a natural region perspective the Söhre, according to the Handbook of Natural Region Divisions of Germany is a sub-region (357.70) of the Kaufungen Forest and Söhre (357.7) and is home to its highest point, the Hirschberg (643.4 m above sea level (NHN)). Colloquially, however, the Söhrewald is often taken to mean just the west and centre of this region as far as the upper reaches of the Losse, an area which reaches its highest point at Bielstein (527.8 m). The Großalmerode Graben Zone, which separates the Söhre in the north from the Kaufungen Forest Plateau, is counted as part of the Söhre.

Nieste is a river of Hesse and of Lower Saxony, Germany. It flows into the Fulda in Niestetal.

Losse is a river of Hesse, Germany. It is a right tributary of the Fulda, which it joins in Kassel. It flows through Hessisch Lichtenau and Kaufungen.

Waldau Airfield (also known as Advanced landing ground Y-96) is a former military and civilian airfield located 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of Kassel, Hesse, Germany. It was operational during World War I then expanded in the interwar years for aircraft production, expanding further for use by the Luftwaffe during World War II.

Kaufungen Abbey (German: Kloster Kaufungen) was a Benedictine nunnery founded in 1017 by the Empress Cunigunde of Luxembourg, wife of Henry II, Holy Roman Emperor, located in Kaufungen in Hessen, Germany.
