Kaufungen Abbey

Kaufungen is a municipality in the district of Kassel, in Hesse, Germany. It is situated in the narrow valley of the river Losse, surrounded by the steep, wooded hills of the Kaufunger Wald, approx. 10 kilometres east of Kassel.

Kommune Niederkaufungen is one of the largest intentional communities in Germany. Founded in 1986, it is an egalitarian, left-wing, income-sharing commune with consensus decision-making. It is situated in a complex of former farm buildings in the historic centre of the village of Niederkaufungen (Kaufungen), seven kilometres from the city of Kassel (Hessen). It has grown from 15 founder members to 62 adults and nearly 20 children and teenagers (2009). It is a member of "Kommuja", the German network of political communes and egalitarian communities.

Bundesautobahn 44 (translates from German as Federal Motorway 44, short form Autobahn 44, abbreviated as BAB 44 or A 44) is a German Autobahn. It consists of three main parts and a few smaller parts. It begins in Aachen at the German–Belgian border (Belgian motorway A3) and ends near Kassel (Bundesautobahn 7). Before the German unification it was an regional motorway. In the 1990s, it became an integral part of the German motorway system. The A 44 is a highly frequented link between the Rhine-Ruhr-Area and the new German states, especially Thuringia, and by proxy, eastern European states like Poland.

Helsa is a municipality and village in the district of Kassel, in Hesse, Germany. The municipality is situated in the Losse valley amongst the hills of the Kaufunger Wald, approx. 15 km east of Kassel.

The Söhre (also called the Söhrewald) is a forested hill range of the German Central Uplands and a subordinate natural region of the Fulda-Werra Uplands (major unit 357) in North Hesse, Germany. From a natural region perspective the Söhre, according to the Handbook of Natural Region Divisions of Germany is a sub-region (357.70) of the Kaufungen Forest and Söhre (357.7) and is home to its highest point, the Hirschberg (643.4 m above sea level (NHN)). Colloquially, however, the Söhrewald is often taken to mean just the west and centre of this region as far as the upper reaches of the Losse, an area which reaches its highest point at Bielstein (527.8 m). The Großalmerode Graben Zone, which separates the Söhre in the north from the Kaufungen Forest Plateau, is counted as part of the Söhre.

Männerwasser is a river of Hesse, Germany. It flows into the Losse near Helsa. It originates in the Geo-Nature Park Frau-Holle-Land (Werratal.Meißner.Kaufunger Wald) in the wooded Söhre region. Its source is located in the municipality of Söhrewald, between the Franzosentriesch (approximately 490 meters above sea level) in the southwest and the Kleiner Belgerkopf (approximately 490 meters) in the northeast, near the abandoned village of Lobesrode at an altitude of about 458 meters.

Söhrewald is a municipality in the district of Kassel, in Hesse, Germany. It is located 13 kilometers southeast of Kassel. The municipality was formed by the former independent municipalities Eiterhagen, Wattenbach and Wellerode in 1970.

The Arboretum Habichtsborn, also known as the Arboretum Staufenberg, is an arboretum located at Forstamtsstraße 6, Escherode, several kilometers southeast of Staufenberg, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is maintained by the Niedersächsischen Forstlichen Versuchsanstalt, and contains about 150 types of woody plants, including Sequoiadendron specimens.

Niestetal is a municipality in the district of Kassel, in Hesse, Germany. It is situated on the eastern bank of the Fulda, 4 km east of Kassel (centre).
