North Westmorland Rural District

Crackenthorpe is a village and civil parish in the Eden District of Cumbria, England. It is about 12 miles (19 km) south east of Penrith. The village was on the A66 road until it was by-passed. The population of the civil parish was less than 100 at the 2011 Census. Details are therefore included in the parish of Long Marton. Crackenthorpe Hall is a large grade II listed house which was rebuilt in the early 17th century and restructured in circa 1685 by Hugh & Thomas Machell. It has since been subdivided into several dwellings. It was reputedly haunted by the ghost of Peg Sneddle, the grey lady of Crackenthorpe. Her body was exhumed and buried in the bed of the River Eden under a boulder of Shap granite known as Peg's stone.

The Appleby Horse Fair, also known as Appleby New Fair, is "an annual gathering of Gypsies and Travellers in the town of Appleby-in-Westmorland in Cumbria, England." The horse fair is held each year in early June, attracting roughly 10,000 Gypsies and Travellers, about 1,000 caravans, several hundred horse-drawn vehicles, and about 30,000 visitors. The Gypsy and Traveller attendees include British Romanichal, Irish Travellers, Scottish Gypsy and Traveller groups, Kale (Welsh Romanies) and more.

Long Marton railway station was a railway station which served the village of Long Marton in Cumbria, England. Situated on the Settle-Carlisle Line, it was located 27+3⁄4 miles (44.7 km) south of Carlisle.

According to the census of 2001, it had a population of 416, increasing to 435 at the census of 2011. The parish touches Brougham, Colby, Cliburn, Crackenthorpe, King's Meaburn, Kirkby Thore, Morland and Temple Sowerby.

Eden Grove School was a residential special school in Bolton near the town of Appleby-in-Westmorland in Cumbria, England. The school was opened in September 1955.The school provided 52-week education and care for boys. Placements were long term and for up to 52 weeks a year, depending on individual need; 38-week placements were also available upon request. The school closed in 2013.

Dufton is a village and civil parish in Cumbria, England. Historically part of Westmorland, it lies in the Eden Valley and below Great Dun Fell. It is mostly around 180m above sea level. At the 2011 census the parish had a population of 201 , increasing to 204 at the 2011 Census The centre of the village is built around a green, on the north side of which is the Stag Inn. The village green is oblong in shape and is bisected by an avenue of lime trees that crosses it diagonally. Houses in the village were built from the 17th century onwards and the village has changed little over the last 100 years.
