North Mountain and Shaw Butte Preserves

KVCP (88.3 FM) is a non-commercial educational radio station broadcasting a Conservative Christian radio format. Licensed to Phoenix, Arizona, it serves the Phoenix metropolitan area. The station is owned by VCY America, Inc. KVCP originally operated as a shared-time station; it broadcast from 5 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the remaining hours used by Family Radio's KPHF for its Christian radio format. The stations' owners began this shared time arrangement in 1990 after both vying for the frequency. Both KVCP and KPHF used the same transmitter off Shaw Butte Trail in Phoenix. As of late March 2023, KVCP operates on a full-time basis.

KPHF (88.3 FM) was a radio station broadcasting a religious radio format. It was licensed to Phoenix, Arizona. The station was owned by Family Radio and aired several Christian ministry broadcasts from noted teachers such as RC Sproul, Alistair Begg, Ken Ham, John F. MacArthur, Adriel Sanchez, Dennis Rainey, John Piper, and others as well as traditional and modern hymns and songs by Keith & Kristyn Getty, The Master's Chorale, Fernando Ortega, Chris Rice, Shane & Shane, Sovereign Grace Music, Sara Groves, and multiple other Christian and Gospel music artists.

Sunnyslope Mountain also known as "S" Mountain is a large, rocky, nearly symmetric hill in the Sunnyslope section of Phoenix, Arizona. It is located near Central Avenue and Hatcher Road. The southern slope of the mountain is adorned with a 150-foot white majuscule "S". The mountain, in particular the large "S", can be seen from thirty miles away on a clear day, and is distinctly visible to nearby airplane passengers. Although the mountain is part of the Phoenix Mountains, the mountain is most closely associated with Sunnyslope High School. Each year, the freshmen class is assigned the task of hiking up the mountain and giving the "S" a fresh coat of white paint. At the end of the Homecoming football game, the "S" is traditionally outlined with red flares which are ignited by members of the freshmen football team. Students came together in June 2004 to convert the "S" to a "J" in memory of Josh Conard, a basketball player for Sunnyslope who was killed by a drunk driver. When the school was remodeled in the mid-1990s, the view of Sunnyslope Mountain from the home football stands was partially obstructed. However, Sunnyslope Mountain remains one of the most visible, artificial features of the northern skyline of the Valley of the Sun. The name of the mountain is derived from the bordering Sunnyslope district of Phoenix. Sunnyslope is generally defined as the area east and south of North Mountain and north of the Arizona Canal. It is listed on the Phoenix Historic Property Register.

SAGU American Indian College (SAGU AIC) is a private Christian college in Phoenix, Arizona. It was originally founded in 1957 by missionary Alta Washburn who saw the great need to prepare Native Americans for church ministry. SAGU AIC educates students from about 25 tribes but welcomes students of all ethnicities. It is a regional Assemblies of God college. Until late 2015 the college was accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools but is now an approved campus of Southwestern Assemblies of God University and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

El Cid Castle was a landmark structure located on the opposite side of the western boundary of Sunnyslope, Arizona. The controversial castle, built by the late Dr. Kenneth Hall, was supposed to be a bowling alley which resembled a Moorish Castle. Construction on the structure began in 1963 and was completed in 1980.

Moon Valley is a neighborhood of approximately 1,600 homes located in the northern part of Phoenix, Arizona. The neighborhood, which comprises 29 separate subdivisions, was established in the early 1960s and is centered on the Moon Valley Country Club, a private country club. It is bounded by 7th Street to the east, Thunderbird Road to the south, and Coral Gables Drive to the west and north. Lookout Mountain Preserve and North Mountain and Shaw Butte Preserves, two city parks that are part of the Phoenix Mountains Preserve, lie adjacent to the south and east of the neighborhood.

The Sunnyslope community is an established neighborhood within the borders of the city of Phoenix, Arizona. The geographic boundaries are 19th Avenue to the west, Cactus Road to the north, 16th Street to the east, and Northern Avenue to the south. This area covers approximately nine square miles (23 km2) and is divided into nine census tracts. The Sunnyslope community is included in parts of three zip code areas: 85020, 85021 and 85029. After four failed attempts to become its own city, Sunnyslope was annexed into the city of Phoenix in 1959. While it exists in the middle of a large metropolitan area, the Sunnyslope community prides itself on a small-town feel and distinct cultural identity.

19th Avenue/Dunlap is a station on the Valley Metro light rail line in Phoenix, Arizona. It was opened as part of Phase 1 of the Northwest Extension of the system on March 19, 2016, and will remain the end of the line until January 27, 2024, when Phase 2 extends the line to Metro Parkway.

Mountain View/25th Avenue is an under-construction light rail station on the Valley Metro system in Phoenix. It is part of the Northwest Extension Phase II. The station is expected to open on January 27, 2024.
