Kent Denver School is a private, co-educational, non-sectarian college preparatory high school and middle school in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. It traces its origin back to the 1922 founding of the Kent School for Girls and has existed as a co-educational institution since 1974. The Kent School for Girls was founded by Mary Austin Bogue, Mary Louise Rathvon and Mary Kent Wallace on Sherman Street in Denver in 1922. Denver Country Day School, an all-men's high school, was founded by Andrews D. Black and Tom Chaffee in 1953, and the two schools relocated to a portion of the spacious Blackmer Farm in Cherry Hills Village in the 1960s. The schools operated side-by-side and with joint science classes until they merged in 1974 to become Kent Denver School.

The City of Cherry Hills Village is a home rule municipality located in Arapahoe County, Colorado, United States. The city population was 6,442 at the 2020 United States Census. Cherry Hills Village is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Front Range Urban Corridor. The city hosted two PGA Championships (1941 and 1985) and the 2005 U.S. Women's Open at the Cherry Hills Country Club. The community was named for a grove of cherry trees near the original town site. On April 16, 2019, the city council voted to rename the 111-year old Swastika Acres subdivision (a common Southwestern and Native American symbol at the time which also pre-dated Nazi usage) as "Old Cherry Hills".

The Foster-Buell Estate is a home located at 2700 E. Hampden Ave. in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. It is an example of Colonial revival architecture built in 1920. The architects were William Ellsworth Fisher and his brother Arthur Addison Fisher (Fisher & Fisher). The grounds were landscaped by Saco DeBoer. It was first the residence of Alexis C. Foster and then the home of architect Temple Buell.

Thomas Jefferson High School is a secondary school located in the Southmoor Park neighborhood, on the southeast side of Denver, Colorado, United States. It is operated under the Denver Public Schools. The school teams are the Spartans. The school and its athletic fields are undergoing significant renovations, both of which were built in 1960. The school offers Advanced Placement classes in English, mathematics, science, social studies, and Spanish. It also hosts a gifted program in various areas of study, such as the Computer Magnet Program, JROTC, concurrent enrollment and X-Track courses. Thomas Jefferson's programs include a student-run newspaper, student-run newscasting, Computer Magnet Program (CCT), yearbook assembled in-house, diversity club, National Honor Society, and DECA.

St. Mary's Academy (SMA) is a Catholic, independent day school in the Loretto tradition located in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. Founded by the Sisters of Loretto in 1864, St. Mary's Academy educates boys and girls. St. Mary's Academy is composed of a co-ed Lower School (co-ed Preschool through Grade 5) and Middle School (co-ed Grades 6-8), and continues its tradition as a college preparatory high school for girls (Grades 9-12). The U.S. Department of Education has honored St. Mary's Academy three times as a School of Excellence (a program initially titled Blue Ribbon Schools). St. Mary's Academy High School offers 26 AP courses.

The Maitland Estate is a historic home located at 9 Sunset Drive. in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. Designed by Denver architects Merrill H. Hoyt & Burnham F. Hoyt and built in 1925 in a Tudor Revival style. The estate was the home of Denver business leader James Maitland who operated the Colorado Builders’ Supply. The listing included a 4.2 acres (1.7 ha) area.It has an L-shaped plan, 82 feet (25 m) on its north–south axis and 71 feet (22 m) on its east–west. Through its first of two stories it is built of brown brick laid in common bond.

Southmoor station is an light rail station in Denver, Colorado, United States. It is served by the E and H Lines, operated by the Regional Transportation District (RTD), and was opened on November 17, 2006. It is the southernmost station before the Interstate 225 branch splits from the Southeast Corridor and serves as a transfer station for each line.The station features an interactive piece of public art entitled Harmonic Pass: Denver. Created by Christopher Janney, it features a mixture of light and sound throughout the pedestrian tunnel. Within each column are photoelectric sensors and an audio speaker. Also, a riddle is etched on plaques on both ends of the tunnel. If a person can decipher the riddle and trigger the columns in the pattern described, the tunnel will “dance” a pattern of light and sound in reply.

The 1985 PGA Championship was the 67th PGA Championship, held August 8–11 at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, a suburb south of Denver. Hubert Green won his second major title, two strokes ahead of defending champion Lee Trevino. It was Green's 19th and final victory on the PGA Tour.Trevino led after 36 holes at 134 (−8), but a 75 (+4) on Saturday allowed Green to take the lead at 206 (−7), three strokes ahead. An eagle on Sunday at the fifth hole gave the 45-year-old Trevino a one stroke lead, but four three-putts produced an even-par round with six bogeys. The two were tied as late as the 15th tee; Green continued making pars, while Trevino bogeyed 15 and 17. Trevino admitted that the $50 heavy putter which helped him win in 1984 on wetter, softer greens in Alabama hurt him on the drier, faster greens in Colorado, especially on Sunday.This was the fifth major championship at Cherry Hills, which hosted the PGA Championship in 1941 and the U.S. Open in 1938, 1960, and 1978. The average elevation of the course exceeds 5,300 feet (1,620 m) above sea level. As of 2022, it is the most recent major played in the Mountain time zone.

Cherry Hills Country Club is a private country club in the western United States, located in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, a suburb south of Denver.Founded 102 years ago in 1922 and designed by William Flynn, the club features a championship 18-hole golf course, a 9-hole par three course, eight tennis courts, and a lap pool. The nine-hole course is called the Rip Arnold Course, named for the club's head professional from 1939 to 1962. It hosts a pro-member invitational event every September named for Warren Smith, the head pro from 1963 to 1991. A bas relief of Smith, the PGA of America's Golf Professional of the Year in 1973, is near the tenth tee. The club's signature colors are cherry red and white.

The 1941 PGA Championship was the 24th PGA Championship, held July 7–13 at Cherry Hills Country Club in Englewood, Colorado (now Cherry Hills Village), just south of Denver. Then a match play championship, Vic Ghezzi won his only major title over defending champion Byron Nelson in 38 holes. Nelson defeated Ralph Guldahl, Ben Hogan, and Gene Sarazen on successive days to reach his third consecutive final. Seven of the eight quarterfinalists in 1941 won major titles during their careers. Sam Snead was the medalist in the stroke play qualifier at 138 (−4); he lost in the quarterfinals but won the first of his three titles the following year. Due to World War II, this was the last "full field" at the PGA Championship until 1946. The match play bracket was scaled back from 64 competitors to 32 for 1942, when it and the Masters were the only majors held. The PGA Championship was the only major in 1944 and 1945; none were played in 1943 and the other three returned in 1946. This was the last time the final match in the PGA Championship went to extra holes. The PGA Championship changed to stroke play in 1958 and its first two playoffs in 1961 and 1967 were 18 holes, before conversion to sudden-death, first used in 1977 and last in 1996. The present three-hole aggregate playoff made its debut in 2000. This championship was the second major played at this course; the U.S. Open was held at Cherry Hills three years earlier in 1938, won by Guldahl. The 1978 U.S. Open was the 78th U.S. Open, held June 15–18 at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, a suburb south of Denver. Andy North held on for a one-stroke victory over runners-up Dave Stockton and J. C. Snead to claim the first of his two U.S. Open titles.The strength in North's game was putting, and he needed only 114 putts over 72 holes, tying the record set by Billy Casper in 1966. This was North's second win on the PGA Tour, but he would not win again until the 1985 U.S. Open; of North's three career PGA Tour wins, two of them came at the U.S. Open. This was the third U.S. Open at Cherry Hills, which previously hosted in 1938 and 1960. It was also the site of the PGA Championship in 1941, and later hosted in 1985. The average elevation of the course exceeds 5,300 feet (1,620 m) above sea level. Three players received special exemptions into the field. They were Billy Casper, Seve Ballesteros, and Arnold Palmer.Forty-three golfers received an exemption from the qualifying process. The PGA Tour felt this was too few players. To protest, the PGA Tour staged the Buick Open the same week to compete with the U.S. Open.
