Linnyshaw Colliery or Berryfield was a coal mine originally owned by the Bridgewater Trustees operating after 1860 on the Manchester Coalfield in Walkden, Greater Manchester, then in the historic county of Lancashire, England.

Linnyshaw is an area of Walkden, a town in the City of Salford district of Greater Manchester, England. Historically within Lancashire, it lies to the east of Walkden, immediately south of junction 2 of the M61 motorway. The area is predominantly moss and there is a very small population. Linnyshaw lies entirely within the Walkden North council ward and within the Worsley parliamentary constituency. It is bordered by Kearsley to the north and Wardley to the east. Between 1865 and 1921 Linnyshaw Colliery was operated by the Bridgewater Trustees.

Kearsley Power Station was a coal-fired power station in Stoneclough, near Kearsley, Bolton, England. It was designed in 1927 by Dr H.F. Parshall for the Lancashire Electric Power Company. The original installation was known as Kearsley 'A', comprising two British Thomson-Houston (B.T.H.) turbo-alternators rated at 32.25 megawatts each. Further extensions became Kearsley 'B' (1936/38), with two more B.T.H. turbo-alternators each capable of producing 51.6 megawatts. Finally Kearsley 'C' (1949) was completed with two more B.T.H. machines rated at 52 megawatts each. The station closed in 1980 when only 'B' station remained operational. The 5 cooling towers were demolished during the week of 14 May 1985.

Wardley Hall is an early medieval manor house and a Grade I listed building in the Wardley area of Worsley, Salford, in Greater Manchester (historically within Lancashire). (grid reference SD757021). There has been a moat on the site since at least 1292. The current hall dates from around 1500 but was extensively rebuilt in the 19th and 20th centuries. The 1894 restoration was carried out by John Douglas. The building is timber framed with a slate roof.The skull of St Ambrose Barlow, one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales, is preserved in a niche at the top of the main staircase. He was hanged, drawn and quartered at Lancaster on 10 September 1641 after confessing to being a Catholic priest. According to legend, it is a screaming skull. The story of it being a screaming skull was told to journalists after it was stolen from Wardley Hall in the 1930s. It worked as the skull was duly returned. It has since been removed occasionally from Wardley Hall by the Bishop of Salford and no unusual or paranormal activities have been reported. Wardley Hall is the official residence of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Salford.

St Ambrose Barlow RC High School is a secondary school located in Wardley, Greater Manchester, England. The school is named after St Ambrose Barlow, one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales.The school serves a wide range of parishes including St Charles' RC Primary School in Swinton, St Mark's RC Primary School in Pendlebury, St Mary's RC Primary School in Swinton, St Luke's RC Primary School in Irlams o' th' Height, St Edmund's RC Primary School in Little Hulton and Christ the King RC Primary School in Walkden. St Ambrose Barlow has been accredited with many national awards including National Teaching School status, the School Inclusion Award and Dyslexia Friendly Status. The majority of pupils are baptised Roman Catholic.

Stoneclough is a suburban area of Kearsley in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, Greater Manchester, England. It is located 3.7 miles (6 km) south-east of Bolton, 4 miles (6 km) south-west of Bury and 7.9 miles (13 km) north-west of Manchester. It is located on the banks of the River Irwell to the southeast of Bolton. Historically part of Lancashire, there are a number of listed buildings and recognised ancient monuments in the villages including Ringley Old Bridge, the village stocks, Kearsley Mill, St Saviour's Church and clock tower and the large stone railway bridge on the Manchester to Bolton railway line. The disused Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal also passes through this area. Stoneclough is mostly residential, housing has replaced most of the old industry. These industrial sites included the Kearsley Paper Works owned by Robert Fletcher and Sons and Kearsley Power Station located on Hulme Road. These have been demolished.

Kearsley railway station serves the town of Kearsley and the outlying villages of Stoneclough, Prestolee and Ringley in Greater Manchester, England. It was originally named Stoneclough.It lies on the Manchester-Preston Line 7+3⁄4 miles (12.5 km) north of Manchester Victoria, though only local services run by Northern Trains stop here. The station was staffed until the early 1990s, however the arson attacking of the station building just below platform level saw an end to this arrangement. In the spring of 2015, the station's pedestrian rail crossing was replaced by a footbridge and the platforms rebuilt as part of modernisation work to electrify the line and raise line speeds to 100 mph.

St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery or Wardley Cemetery is a cemetery in Wardley, a suburban area of the City of Salford, in Greater Manchester, England. It is close to and Swinton, Worsley, and Walkden. It is one of two large cemeteries in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salford. Wardley Hall, a medieval manor house next to the cemetery, is the official residence of the Roman Catholic bishop of Salford.
