St James' Church, Kingston is a parish church in the Church of England located in Kingston, Isle of Wight. Formerly a separate Anglican parish, Kingston is now amalgamated with the adjacent Anglican parish of Shorwell, as Shorwell with Kingston.

Kingston is a small settlement and former civil parish, now in the parish of Shorwell, on the Isle of Wight, England, located 5 miles southwest of Newport in the southwest of the island, an area known as the Back of the Wight. In 1931 the parish had a population of 50. On 1 April 1933 the parish was abolished and merged with Shorwell.Formerly a separate Anglican parish, with its own parish church, St. James' Church, Kingston is now amalgamated with the adjacent Anglican parish of Shorwell, as Shorwell with Kingston.

Chale Green is a hamlet on the B3399 road about a mile inland from the village of Chale on the Isle of Wight. Administratively it is part of Chale.

Cridmore Bog is a 14.4-hectare (36-acre) Site of special scientific interest which is west of Godshill. The site was notified in 1985 for its biological features. It is adjacent to "The Wilderness", another SSSI in this area of the Isle of Wight

Chillerton Down is downland between the villages of Shorwell and Chillerton, on the Isle of Wight, England.

The Chillerton Down transmitting station is a broadcasting facility for FM and DAB radio at Chillerton Down, above the village of Chillerton on the Isle of Wight off the south coast of England (grid reference SZ475835). The transmitter was erected in 1958 and uses a 228.9-metre (751 ft) high guyed steel lattice mast of triangular cross section as an aerial.

Isle of Wight Radio is an Independent Local Radio station in Newport on the Isle of Wight. The station began transmitting on 1242 kHz from Briddlesford Farm AM transmitter on 15 April 1990. Isle of Wight Radio switched to FM in March 1998, its main transmitter is at Chillerton Down on 107FM, with three low power relays on 102FM in Cowes, Ventnor and Ryde. As of December 2023, the station broadcasts to a weekly audience of 41,000 with a listening share of 12.8%, according to RAJAR.

Chillerton and Gatcombe is a civil parish on the Isle of Wight, England, including the two villages of Chillerton and Gatcombe. It was previously the parish of Gatcombe but was renamed in 2013 under a 2011 order of Isle of Wight Council.It has a parish council, the lowest form of local government.The population of the parish in the 2011 census was 422. The area of the parish is 11.25 square kilometres (4.34 sq mi).As of 2022 there are 19 listed buildings in the parish, of which St Olave's Church, Gatcombe is at grade I and Gatcombe House and Sheat Manor at grade II*.

Chillerton is a village between Newport and Chale in the Isle of Wight in southern England. Chillerton is in the middle of a farming community. It is in the civil parish of Chillerton and Gatcombe, along with nearby Gatcombe; the parish had a total population of 422 at the 2011 census.The nearby Chillerton Down is the site of an unfinished Iron Age promontory fort and a 229-metre (751 ft) antenna for the Isle of Wight radio station broadcasting on 107.00 MHz, as well as several other stations. It is the village's most prominent feature and can be seen from most parts of the island. It is known as the Chillerton Down transmitting station. Chillerton Down is flown by Paragliders in a E to SE wind and on days with good thermals the top of the mast can be reached. In 1907, a contract was signed that ensured that properties older than 1907 in Chillerton and nearby Gatcombe would receive free water, while newer homes receive it at a reduced rate. In 2009 Southern Water proposed that everyone to pay the same rate, claiming that the reasoning behind the initial pact is now invalid, as the costs for the original project have since been paid off.Originally, the main school was Chillerton and Rookley Primary School, located on the Main Road in Chillerton. It was a small village school with a total of 43 students on roll from local areas as of 2008. However, in 2010 it was announced that the school would be combining with primary schools in Godshill and Wroxall. The new school would have two campuses, in Godshill and Wroxall.Public transport is provided by Southern Vectis bus route 6, which runs between Newport and Ventnor and Wightbus route 36, running between Newport and Moortown.

Sheat Manor is a manor house in Chillerton, on the Isle of Wight, England. Considered to be one of the island's antiquities, Sheat manor house, is a fine old gabled mansion now used as a farmhouse. It has a pond and swans. It contains some interesting Jacobite carving. Sheat was one of the few properties whose Anglo-Saxon owner, Alaric, was not disturbed by the Norman invasion. It was run by the Urry family for some time.

The Isle of Wight Rural District was a rural district on the Isle of Wight from 1894 to 1974 covering most of the island, apart from urban areas. In 1933, the district was reduced by the creation of the Sandown-Shanklin and Ventnor urban districts. In 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, it was merged with these two urban districts to form the new non-metropolitan South Wight district.

Gatcombe is a village in the civil parish of Chillerton and Gatcombe, on the Isle of Wight, England. It is located about two and a half miles south of Newport, in the centre of the island. The parish, which includes Chillerton, had a population of 422 at the 2011 census.
