Gordon Park, Cleveland

On September 30, 2022, at Gordon Park in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, Chase Cominsky and Jake Runyan, the two winning anglers in the final event of that season's Lake Erie Walleye Trail series of fishing tournaments, were found to have hidden weights in some of the fish they caught and immediately disqualified. Video of the revelation, showing the pair being confronted by angry fellow anglers, went viral online. The two were charged with several felonies. They later pleaded guilty and received short jail sentences, a fine, a three-year ban from receiving another fishing license, and had to forfeit their boat to the state for later auction. Both men have also faced other criminal charges in their communities. Other fishermen involved in the tournament had suspected Cominsky and Runyan of cheating since they had won the previous year, even though a failed polygraph test cost them some of their winnings. Before teaming up, neither had finished in the top ten. During the 2022 season, suspicion deepened as they won every tournament they entered with unusually high weights of caught fish. The tournament director, who had initially defended them as particularly skilled anglers, eventually decided to check the fish and put the assertions to rest.

White Diesel Engine Division in Springfield, Ohio, manufactured diesel engine generators, which powered U.S. military equipment and infrastructure, namely Army Nike and Air Force Bomarc launch complexes, and other guided missile installations and proving grounds, sections of SAGE and DEW Line stations, radars, Combat Direction Centers and other ground facilities of the U.S. aerospace defense ring, such as the Texas Towers.During the Vietnam Era, the company retained its position within the Top 100 Defense Contractors list (it ranked 87th in the Fiscal Year 1965, 77th in 1967, 73rd in 1968, 89th in 1969). Its production facilities, such as the Lansing truck plant in Lansing, Michigan, and the main plant in Cleveland were engaged in production, inspection, engineering services and maintenance of thousands of military/utility cargo trucks M39, M44, M600, and M602 series trucks, as well as spare parts, such as cylinder heads, diesel and gasoline engines with accessories.

The SS William Edenborn was a 497-foot (151 m) long Great Lakes freighter that had a 62-year career on the Great Lakes. She was built by the West Bay City Shipbuilding Company of West Bay City, Michigan. She was originally built for the American Steamship Company, in 1900. At the time of her launch she was the largest vessel on the lakes, this is why she was given the title Queen of the Lakes. In 1901 she was sold to the Pittsburgh Steamship Company.

On April 16, 2017, 74-year-old Robert Lee Godwin Sr. (September 7, 1942 – April 16, 2017) was shot and killed while walking in the Glenville neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio, United States. The perpetrator, identified as 37-year-old Steve Stephens, posted a cellphone video of the shooting on his Facebook account, leading many media outlets, both during the manhunt and afterward, to dub Stephens the "Facebook killer". A warrant was issued for Stephens for aggravated murder. Two days later, he died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound when cornered by police in Erie County, Pennsylvania.

The Cleveland East Ohio Gas explosion occurred on the afternoon of Friday, October 20, 1944. The resulting gas leak, explosion and fires killed 131 people and destroyed a one-square-mile area on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio.

The Cleveland Cultural Gardens are a collection of public gardens located in Rockefeller Park in Cleveland, Ohio. The gardens are situated along East Boulevard & Martin Luther King Jr. Drive within the 276 acre of wooded parkland on the city's East Side. In total, there are 33 distinct gardens, each commemorating a different ethnic group whose immigrants have contributed to the heritage of the United States over the centuries, as well as Cleveland.

Rockefeller Park is a city park named in honor of oil magnate John D. Rockefeller Sr., located in Cleveland, Ohio. Part of the Cleveland Public Parks District, Rockefeller Park is immediately adjacent Wade Park to the southeast, and across Euclid Ave on its northwest border. Besides the distinction of being the largest park located completely within city limits, Rockefeller Park is a link in a chain of parkland that connects the heights region of the eastern suburbs to the city's lakefront. Following the path of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and spanning a large section of Cleveland's East Sides, the park runs in a northwesterly path between suburban Shaker Heights, bisecting the University Circle neighborhood and terminating at Gordon Park on the city's lakefront, opened to the public in 1897. The park was dramatically expanded during the 1930s with labor provided by the Works Progress Administration. Landmarks found in Rockefeller Park include two separate entries on the National Register of Historic Places: one for its architecturally historic bridges, and one for its Cultural Gardens.

East High School was a public high school located in Cleveland, Ohio. It is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. East's sports teams were nicknamed the Blue Bombers. The school gymnasium suffered a roof collapse in 2000. On June 10, 2010, East High was closed by the 2010 Academic Transformation Plan that was issued by the Cleveland School System. East High School utilized a small school concept. The three small schools once housed on East's Campus were: School of Applied Science and Technology Academy of Creative Expression Institute of Business, Law and Technology

St. Vitus is a parish of the Roman Catholic Church in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, in the Diocese of Cleveland. The parish church, located at 6019 Lausche Avenue in the St. Clair-Superior neighborhood, was completed in 1932.

Glenville is a neighborhood on the East Side of Cleveland, Ohio. To the north, it borders the streetcar suburb of Bratenahl, the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway, and the Lake Erie shore, encompassing the Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve. To the east, it borders the suburb of East Cleveland, and to the south, it borders the neighborhoods of Hough and University Circle. Glenville borders the Collinwood area to the northeast at East 134th Street, and St. Clair–Superior to the west at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and the Cleveland Cultural Gardens in Rockefeller Park.
