East High School (Cleveland, Ohio)

Hough (pronounced ) is a neighborhood situated on the East Side of Cleveland, Ohio. Roughly two square miles, the neighborhood is bounded to Superior and Euclid Avenue between East 55th and East 105th streets. Placed between Downtown Cleveland and University Circle, Hough borders Fairfax and Cedar–Central to the South and Glenville and St. Clair–Superior to the North. The neighborhood became a target for revitalization during the mid-20th century, after the 1966 Hough Riots.

Martin Luther King Jr. High School is a public high school located in Cleveland, Ohio. It is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. The school nickname is King.

African American Museum (formerly the Afro-American Cultural & Historical Society Museum) in Cleveland, Ohio was founded in 1953 by Icabod Flewellen. The Museum is housed in a 100-year-old Carnegie Library building. The Museum works to educate young people about the positive contributions of blacks to the cultures of the world, and to eliminate the distorted portrayals and images of black people.

The Cleveland Cultural Gardens are a collection of public gardens located in Rockefeller Park in Cleveland, Ohio. The gardens are situated along East Boulevard & Martin Luther King Jr. Drive within the 276 acre of wooded parkland on the city's East Side. In total, there are 33 distinct gardens, each commemorating a different ethnic group whose immigrants have contributed to the heritage of the United States over the centuries, as well as Cleveland.

Rockefeller Park is a city park named in honor of oil magnate John D. Rockefeller Sr., located in Cleveland, Ohio. Part of the Cleveland Public Parks District, Rockefeller Park is immediately adjacent Wade Park to the southeast, and across Euclid Ave on its northwest border. Besides the distinction of being the largest park located completely within city limits, Rockefeller Park is a link in a chain of parkland that connects the heights region of the eastern suburbs to the city's lakefront. Following the path of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and spanning a large section of Cleveland's East Sides, the park runs in a northwesterly path between suburban Shaker Heights, bisecting the University Circle neighborhood and terminating at Gordon Park on the city's lakefront, opened to the public in 1897. The park was dramatically expanded during the 1930s with labor provided by the Works Progress Administration. Landmarks found in Rockefeller Park include two separate entries on the National Register of Historic Places: one for its architecturally historic bridges, and one for its Cultural Gardens.

The Crawford-Tilden Apartments are an apartment building on the eastern side of the city of Cleveland, Ohio, United States. Built to fit an unusual piece of land, it has been named a historic site. Constructed in 1908, the Crawford-Tilden Apartments were built according to a design by Burt Corning, an Irishman who was one of Cleveland's premier architects in the early twentieth century. The structure's exterior is brick with elements of stone and iron, including architectural elements such as pinnacles on the roof's parapet and bay windows along the walls in many locations. Its plan is shaped like the letter "V" culminating with a tip one bay wide; the tip includes such stylistic elements as Ionic columns and a pediment. Numerous details were included in the construction of each of the building's twenty apartments, none of which have experienced substantial change since their construction more than a century ago.Crawford-Tilden has been designated a landmark by the city of Cleveland, and in 1978 the complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It qualified for federal designation because of its architecture: it is among the best works of one of the most prominent architects in Cleveland's history, it prefigures the architectural styles of the Progressive Era, and it is one of the area's earliest garden apartment complexes. Despite its historic status, the building decayed near the end of the twentieth century, but it has seen new life: in 1997, the Ohio SHPO presented one of its annual Preservation Merit Awards to the city of Cleveland in general, the municipal Department of Community Development, and to a related foundation, as the three had collaborated to restore the property.

The Dr. James Bell House, also known as the Bell-Williams House, is a historic home located at 1822 E. 89th Street in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. Designed by noted local architect George J. Hardway for Dr. James Bell (a local dentist), it was completed in 1901. The home is a prime example of the Cleveland-area reaction at the end of the 19th century against high Victorian architecture, utilizing elements of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture to create a highly individualized, severe style. The home was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 16, 1986. The home is part of the East 89th Street Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 26, 1988.

The Ansel Road Apartment Buildings Historic District is a historic residential district in the Hough neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. The district consists of eight contributing and one non-contributing multi-family residential buildings built between 1900 and 1949. The area was designated a National Historic District and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 2, 2008.

League Park was a baseball park located in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. It was situated at the northeast corner of E. 66th Street and Lexington Avenue in the Hough neighborhood. It was built in 1891 as a wood structure and rebuilt using concrete and steel in 1910. The park was home to a number of professional sports teams, most notably the then-Cleveland Indians of Major League Baseball. League Park was first home to the Cleveland Spiders of the National League from 1891 to 1899 and of the Cleveland Lake Shores of the Western League, the minor league predecessor to the Indians, in 1900. From 1914 to 1915, League Park also hosted the Cleveland Spiders of the minor league American Association. In the late 1940s, the park was also the home field of the Cleveland Buckeyes of the Negro American League. In addition to baseball, League Park was also used for American football, serving as the home field for several successive teams in the Ohio League and early National Football League (NFL) during the 1920s and 1930s, as well as for college football. Most notably, the Cleveland Rams of the NFL played at League Park in 1937 and for much of the early 1940s. Later in the 1940s, the Cleveland Browns used League Park as a practice field. The Western Reserve Red Cats college football team from Western Reserve University played a majority of homes games at League Park from 1929 to 1941, and all home games after joining the Mid-American Conference from 1947 to 1949. Western Reserve played many of its major college football games at League Park, including against the Ohio State Buckeyes, Pittsburgh Panthers, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Cincinnati Bearcats. Western Reserve and Case Tech often showcased their annual Thanksgiving Day rivalry game against one another, as well as playing other Big Four Conference games against John Carroll and Baldwin-Wallace. The final football game played at League Park was a 30–0 victory by Western Reserve University over rival Case Tech on Nov 24, 1949.Although Cleveland Stadium opened in 1932 and had a much larger seating capacity and better access by car, League Park continued to be used by the Indians through the 1946 season, mainly for weekday games. Weekend games, games expecting larger crowds, and night games were held at Cleveland Stadium. Most of the League Park structure was demolished in 1951, although some remnants still remain, including the original ticket office built in 1909. After extensive renovation, the site was rededicated on August 23, 2014, as the Baseball Heritage Museum and Fannie Lewis Community Park at League Park.

The Baseball Heritage Museum is a baseball museum in the Hough neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio. The Heritage Baseball Museum was founded in 1997 and is located at League Park, former home of the Cleveland Indians. The Baseball Heritage Museum is part of the renovated League Park complex and is housed in the former League Park ticket house.

The White Motor Company was an American automobile, truck, bus and agricultural tractor manufacturer from 1900 until 1980. The company also produced bicycles, roller skates, automatic lathes, and sewing machines. Before World War II, the company was based in Cleveland, Ohio. White Diesel Engine Division in Springfield, Ohio, manufactured diesel engine generators, which powered U.S. military equipment and infrastructure, namely Army Nike and Air Force Bomarc launch complexes, and other guided missile installations and proving grounds, sections of SAGE and DEW Line stations, radars, Combat Direction Centers and other ground facilities of the U.S. aerospace defense ring, such as the Texas Towers.During the Vietnam Era, the company retained its position within the Top 100 Defense Contractors list (it ranked 87th in the Fiscal Year 1965, 77th in 1967, 73rd in 1968, 89th in 1969). Its production facilities, such as the Lansing truck plant in Lansing, Michigan, and the main plant in Cleveland were engaged in production, inspection, engineering services and maintenance of thousands of military/utility cargo trucks M39, M44, M600, and M602 series trucks, as well as spare parts, such as cylinder heads, diesel and gasoline engines with accessories.
