Sampson Flat

The 2015 Sampson Flat fires were a series of bushfires in the Australian state of South Australia, the area affected was predominantly the northern Adelaide Hills and the outer Adelaide metropolitan area. The fire began on 2 January 2015 during a day of extreme heat and lasted until 9 January 2015; and burnt more than 20,000 hectares (49,000 acres).

The District Council of Munno Para East was a local government area of South Australia from 1853 to 1958, seated at Uleybury.

Upper Hermitage is an outer northeastern rural suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Tea Tree Gully and Adelaide Hills Council local government areas, and is adjacent to the rural districts of Yatala Vale and Gould Creek.

Newland is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It is named after pioneer Simpson Newland, a prominent figure in nineteenth-century South Australia. It is a 69.3 km² suburban electorate in north-eastern Adelaide, taking in the suburbs of Banksia Park, Fairview Park, Forreston, Hope Valley, Houghton, Humbug Scrub, Inglewood, Kersbrook, Lower Hermitage, Millbrook, Paracombe, Ridgehaven, Sampson Flat, St Agnes, Tea Tree Gully, Upper Hermitage, Vista and Yatala Vale as well as parts of Chain of Ponds and Modbury. Replacing the abolished electoral district of Tea Tree Gully, Newland was created at the 1976 redistribution, taking effect at the 1977 election. It followed a bellwether pattern until the 1989 election, where it was won by Liberal candidate Dorothy Kotz. Kotz developed a strong personal following and had little difficulty being re-elected until her retirement at the 2006 election. Her retirement and the landslide Labor victory across the state led to Labor candidate Tom Kenyon winning the electorate. It became the Labor government's most marginal electorate at the 2014 election. The 2016 redistribution ahead of the 2018 election changed Newland from a 1.4 percent Labor electorate to a notional 0.1 percent Liberal electorate.

Tea Tree Gully was an electoral district of the House of Assembly in the Australian state of South Australia from 1970 to 1977. The suburb of Tea Tree Gully has since been represented by the seat of Newland.

Yatala Vale is an outer northeastern rural suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Tea Tree Gully local government area, and is adjacent to Golden Grove and Fairview Park, as well as the rural districts of Upper Hermitage and Gould Creek.

King is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was created by the redistribution conducted in 2016, and was contested for the first time at the 2018 state election.King is named after Len King , a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of South Australia and Attorney-General in the Dunstan government.The Electoral District Boundaries Commission considered that it had renamed the electoral district of Napier to King, but only 1479 of the estimated 27,002 voters in King had previously been voters in Napier from the rural areas of Bibaringa, One Tree Hill, Uleybury, Yattalunga. The majority of voters in King came from Wright in the suburbs of Golden Grove, Greenwith, Salisbury East and from Little Para in the suburbs of Gould Creek, Hillbank, Salisbury Heights, Salisbury Park.

One Tree Hill is a town on the outskirts of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Playford.

Lower Hermitage is a locality in the Adelaide Hills region, located approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) northeast of Adelaide in South Australia. It is aligned north–south along Lower Hermitage Road. As at 2016 census, Lower Hermitage had a population of 209 people.The heritage-listed Glen Ewin complex including a house and former jam factory buildings (pulping shed, jam factory, sugar store, packing shed and jam kitchen) is situated in the area surrounding the locality.

Napier was an electorate in the South Australian Legislative Assembly in the outer northern suburbs of the Adelaide metropolitan area, including the suburbs of Blakeview, Davoren Park, Elizabeth Downs, Evanston South, Kudla, Munno Para, Smithfield and Smithfield Plains, parts of Craigmore, Evanston Park and Munno Para Downs; as well as semi-rural Bibaringa, One Tree Hill, Sampson Flat, Uleybury and Yattalunga, and part of Humbug Scrub. Napier was named after Sir Mellis Napier, who was Chief Justice of South Australia for 25 years and a total of 43 years in the Supreme Court. Though typically a safe Labor seat, at the 1993 election landslide Napier was Labor's most marginal seat on a 1.1 percent margin. Napier ceased to exist at the 2018 state election. because of a redistribution in 2016. Some of the more central urbanized area of Napier east of the Main North Road was merged with Little Para which was renamed Elizabeth. The portion west of Main North Road was transferred to Taylor and Light. The eastern rural portions became part of King, which the Boundaries Commission reported as the renaming of Napier. The last member for Napier, Jon Gee, transferred to Taylor.

Little Para Reservoir is a reservoir in South Australia serving the city of Adelaide. It was built between 1974 and 1977, costing A$11.5 million, and commissioned in January 1979.The reservoir is built in the path of the Little Para River and is used for water storage and flood mitigation. As the Little Para's catchment is insufficient to fill the reservoir, it is mainly used to store water pumped from the River Murray. Periodically water is released from the reservoir into the river, enabling refreshing of ground water.Overlooking the reservoir is a public park with tennis courts, playgrounds, public toilets and information about the initial construction of the dam. Although much of the current amenities have fallen into disarray due lack of maintenance and public abuse.

Gould Creek is an outer northeastern rural suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. Gould Creek is located in the City of Tea Tree Gully and City of Playford local government areas, and is adjacent to Greenwith, Salisbury Heights and Hillbank, as well as the rural districts of Yatala Vale and Upper Hermitage and the town of One Tree Hill.
