Thedden is a hamlet in the large civil parish of Bentworth in Hampshire, England, about 1.3 miles (2.1 km) south east of the centre of Bentworth village. Its nearest town is Alton, about 3.5 miles (5.1 km) east of Thedden. The nearest railway station is Alton which is 3.5 miles (5 km) to the east. Until 1932 it was the Bentworth and Lasham railway station on the Basingstoke and Alton Light Railway, until its closure in 1932.Thedden Grange is a large country house, the area originally being part of the Bentworth Hall estate. During the Second World War it was used as a prisoner of war camp.

Jane Austen's House Museum is a small independent museum in the village of Chawton near Alton in Hampshire. It is a writer's house museum occupying the 17th-century house (informally known as Chawton Cottage) in which novelist Jane Austen spent the last eight years of her life, during which time she wrote, revised and made ready to be published all six of her novels, and the fragment Sanditon. The museum has been a Grade I listed building since 1963.

At a spot height of 712 feet (217 m), it is one of the highest settlements in Hampshire. The nearest railway station is Alton which is 3.5 miles (5.6 km) to the east. Until 1932 it was the Bentworth and Lasham railway station on the Basingstoke and Alton Light Railway. The area was inhabited in ancient times and some Tumuli and Burial Mounds are on Wivelrod Hill. Also, at Wivelrod House, finds include Pottery, bone objects, spindle-whorls (stone discs with a hole in the middle used in spinning thread) and fragments of Roman roofing tiles.

Butts Junction was a railway junction located in Alton in Hampshire, England. The junction was the location at which the Basingstoke and Alton Light Railway and the Meon Valley Railway diverged from the Mid-Hants Railway which runs from Alton to Winchester. The junction became operational in 1901.All of the Junction's railway lines had closed by 1973, with the Mid-Hants Railway subsequently reopening as a heritage railway known as the Watercress Line in 1977. The location of Butts Junction can still be seen from trains on the Watercress Line, with an embankment tailing off in a different direction.

Alton Abbey is an Anglican Benedictine monastery (founded in 1895) in the village of Beech, near Alton, Hampshire, England. The abbey is not far from one of Hampshire's highest points, King's Hill (218 m). The community was founded by the Revd Charles Plomer Hopkins in 1884, as the "Society of Saint Paul", in Rangoon (Burma) and Calcutta (India) to work with destitute or distressed merchant seafarers and their chaplains. Noted for its beauty and tranquility, Alton Abbey has been described in The Times as "the best-kept secret in the Church of England",

All Saints' Church is an Anglican church in Alton, Hampshire, England. It is a Grade II listed building by English Heritage.

Shalden is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is 2.3 miles (3.7 km) northwest of Alton and 1.9 miles (3.1 km) northeast of Bentworth, just off the A339 road. The parish covers an area of 1,536 acres (622 ha) and has an average elevation of 600 feet (180 m) above sea level. The nearest railway station is Alton, 2.5 miles (4.0 km) southeast of the village. According to the 2011 census, it had a population of 435. Bronze Age and Roman remains have been found in the area. The manor of Shalden was recorded in the Domesday Survey of 1086, and was included in the Odiham Hundred. A Saxon church was in the village, but was destroyed and replaced with a newer church, which was constructed in 1863. The village contains twelve Grade II listed landmarks, including St Peter and St Paul's church, Shalden Lodge and Manor Farmhouse, a Grade II* listed building.

King's Hill is one of the highest points in the county of Hampshire, England. It is part of the Hampshire Downs and reaches 218 metres (715 ft) above sea level. Its prominence of 46 metres qualifies it as one of England's TuMPs. King's Hill is situated in the parish of Bentworth. It lies on the Abbey Road between the villages of Medstead and Beech. To the northeast is Alton Abbey. Chawton Park Wood lies to the south of the open hilltop.

Alton ( AWL-tən) is a market town and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England, near the source of the River Wey. It had a population of 17,816 at the 2011 census. Alton was recorded in the Domesday Survey of 1086 as Aoltone. During the Saxon period Alton was known as Aweltun. The Battle of Alton occurred in the town during the English Civil War. It also has connections with Sweet Fanny Adams and Jane Austen.
