The Indiana University Maurer School of Law is located on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. The school is named after Michael S. "Mickey" Maurer, an Indianapolis businessman and 1967 alumnus who donated $35 million in 2008. From its founding in 1842 until Maurer's donation, the school was known as the Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington.The law school is one of two law schools operated by Indiana University, the other being the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law (IU McKinney) in Indianapolis. Although both law schools are part of Indiana University, each law school is wholly independent of the other.

The Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) is a non-proft professional organization that supports research, training, and education in practical and professional ethics. It was founded in 1991 with support from Indiana University and the Lilly Endowment to encourage interdisciplinary scholarship and teaching among educators and practitioners. The association sponsors the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl. The association was hosted on the Indiana University Bloomington campus until mid-2017, when APPE moved to the Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.

The Legg House is a historic former farmhouse in Bloomington, Indiana, United States. Built in the middle of the nineteenth century, it has experienced a range of uses, culminating in its present status as an Indiana University office building. After a period of deterioration, it was restored to its original condition, and it has been designated a historic site.

The Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) is a student union building at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana United States. It is located at 900 E 7th Street, facing the Campus River and the Dunn Meadow. The Indiana Memorial Union was dedicated on June 13, 1932. At nearly 500,000 square feet (46,000 m2), it is one of the world's largest student unions. The IMU contains a hotel, restaurants, a bookstore, a bowling alley, a movie theater, a beauty salon, an electronics store and gathering spaces for lecturers, meetings, conferences and performances. The building also houses IU's student government offices within the Student Activities Tower, where as many as 50 campus organizations conduct regular meetings.Initial construction of the building took place from 1931 to 1932, and was designed by the firm Granger and Bollenbacher. The Biddle Hotel and Conference Center was added in 1960. The wing contains 189 guest rooms and over 50,000 square feet of meeting space. The IMU hosts more than 17,000 events every year.On the first floor of the IMU the Memorial Room pays tribute to members of the Indiana University community that have served in the U.S. military. Contained within this room is the Golden Book, which contains the names of IU's service members going back to the War of 1812.John Whittenberger, a student, founded the Indiana Union in 1909. Every student at Indiana University's Bloomington campus is a member of the Indiana Memorial Union by default. The Indiana Memorial Union Board is the governing body of the Indiana Memorial Union. The Union Board is led by a group of 16 student directors, a faculty representative, an administrative representative, an alumni representative, and the Executive Director of the Indiana Memorial Union. This 20-person committee is known as the Union Board of Directors.

Boxcar Books was a non-profit, independent bookstore, infoshop, and community center in Bloomington, Indiana. Collectively run by volunteers, Boxcar Books was "one of the highest-volume zine sellers" in the United States. According to its website, the store existed to "promote reading, self-education, social equality, and social welfare through increased accessibility to literature and workshops." Boxcar Books was for a time also the home of the Midwest Pages to Prisoners Project, a non-profit organization that distributes books and reading materials to prisoners. By the end of 2017, Boxcar Books had closed their operations.

The Hutton Honors College (or simply Hutton or HHC) is the honors program of Indiana University. The college was founded as the University Honors Division in 1966 with Warner Chapman as its director. It was renamed the Hutton Honors College in the fall of 2004 in honor of IU alumnus Edward L. Hutton. Its purpose serves to bring together students of various disciplines in an intellectually engaging manner, through research, creative projects, seminars, extracurricular activities, rigorous academics, travel abroad, and internships. Hutton Honors College Students and Alumni have achieved many forms of successes, including: - Fellowships and scholarships, such as the Churchill Scholarship, the Fulbright Scholarship, the Gates Cambridge Scholarship, the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, the Luce Fellowship, the Marshall Scholarship, the Rhodes Scholarship, the Harry S. Truman Scholarship, and many more. - Graduate degrees at institutions such as Indiana University, UC Berkeley, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown University, Juilliard, Stanford, Columbia University, University of Chicago, Oxford University, etc. - Careers in corporations and nonprofits which include, Amazon, the American Red Cross, the "Big Four" accounting firms, the U.S. Department of State, Ford Motor Company, Google, IBM, the Peace Corps, Target, and many others.

The Erminie Wheeler-Voegelin Collection comprises documents and other scholarly materials gathered by Erminie Wheeler-Voegelin, a pioneer in ethnohistory, in the 1950s. It is housed within the James H. Kellar Library of the Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology in Bloomington, Indiana. Notes by Glenn A. Black, James H. Kellar, Warren K. Moorehead and Eli Lilly, and other Midwestern archaeologists are open to scholars and to the public for on-site research. The highlight of the collection is the Great Lakes-Ohio Valley Ethnohistory Collection.

Mathers Museum of World Cultures was a museum of ethnography and cultural history that features exhibitions of traditional and folk arts at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. It also offered practicum studies at the university for graduate and undergraduate students. The museum also worked to promote local artists. In 2020, the Mathers Museum officially merged with the Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology and was closed for renovations. The combined institutions are now the new Indiana University Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (IUMAA). Located at 416 North Indiana Avenue, the IUMAA is scheduled to reopen in 2023.First announced in 1963, the Indiana University Museum was initially funded by the University's departments of History and Anthropology, and the Committee on Folklore. The museum opened its first exhibit in December 1965. Its first director, Dr. Wesley Hurt, set out to expand its holdings through collecting trips in the Western United States and South America, and through actively seeking donations from collectors. By 1970, its collections and exhibits had grown to the point that moving into a new building was a necessity. A new site would provide improved facilities and a significant amount of storage space. This led to the museum staff to apply for accreditation by the American Association of Museums. They were awarded the accreditation in July 1971. In October 1980, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new William Hammond Mathers Museum. The institution was named in honor of the youngest son of Dr. Frank C. Mathers, a chemistry professor at IU, and the leading building fund donor for the new location.While some of the collections acquired by the museum in its first few decades were accompanied by substantial documentation about makers and the uses of these objects, others lacked much contextual information. In later years, staff, faculty, and graduate students associated with the Mathers Museum conducted systematic fieldwork in order to better understand certain donated items, and to develop exhibits around intentionally selected, richly documented materials. The collections include more than 40,000 ethnographic objects and images from cultures around the world, with areas of specialization including African, Latin American, and Native American cultures, musical instruments, and Indiana History. Traditional Arts Indiana, the state's traditional arts program, became part of the museum 2015, before moving to IU's Cook Center for Public Arts and Humanities in 2020. While based at the Mathers, Traditional Arts Indiana director Jon Kay collaborated with Mathers staff on research, presentations, performances, and exhibits, including Creative Aging, was based on Kay's 2016 book Folk Art and Aging..Some notable holdings of the museum include the Stevens-Esarey collection of everyday tools from the 19th century; West African materials collected by Roy Sieber and Arnold Rubin; the Ellison collection of Native American materials; Pacific artifacts and Hendricksville pottery donated by Henry and Cecilia Wahl; John White's collection of hundreds of objects from the Tetela people of the Congo; the Laura Boulton collection of musical instruments from around the world; an extensive selection of everyday objects from the Caboclos assembled by the museum in collaboration with IU anthropologists Eduardo Bronizio and Andrea Siqueira; nearly 200 items associated with botánicas gathered by folklorist Selina Morales for the exhibit Botánica: A Pharmacy for the Soul (2008-2009); African ceramics donated by William Simmons; regalia associated with central African royalty collected by Allen Davis; pieces by Chester Cornett and other Kentucky chair makers donated by folklorist Michael Own Jones; over 400 West African garments from the collection of Mary Warren; Native American materials from the Great Lakes region bequeathed by Elinor and Vincent Ostrom; works purchased from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians' Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual cooperative; a large airplane-shaped fantasy coffin by Paa Joe Coffin Works in Ghana, donated by Robert and Alice Schloss, and documentary materials and tools from this workshop collected for the museum by Kristin Otto; and documentary materials on traditional arts in China collected by museum staff in connection with the China-US Folklore and Intangible Cultural Heritage Project, a collaboration between several U.S. and Chinese ethnographic museums.

Monroe County Public Library (MCPL) serves the 138,000 citizens of Monroe County, Indiana, through the Main Library in downtown Bloomington, the Ellettsville Branch, and the Bookmobile. The library’s special services include the Learn and Play Space, a preschool discovery center; VITAL, an adult literacy program; CATS, a five-channel community access television network; the Indiana Room, a local history and genealogy collection and grants center (part of the Foundation Center’s Cooperating Collections National Network); and service to inmates at the Monroe County Correctional Center.

Home Laundry Company is a historic laundry building located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. The original section was built in 1922, and is a two-story, roughly square, red brick building. A one-story Moderne style wraparound addition was built in 1947–1948. It continued to house a laundry when listed in 2000 and currently houses a Chinese restaurant..: 5, 14 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Bloomington is a city in and the county seat of Monroe County in the central region of the U.S. state of Indiana. It is the seventh-largest city in Indiana and the fourth-largest outside the Indianapolis metropolitan area. According to the Monroe County History Center, Bloomington is known as the "Gateway to Scenic Southern Indiana". The city was established in 1818 by a group of settlers from Kentucky, Tennessee, the Carolinas, and Virginia who were so impressed with "a haven of blooms" that they called it Bloomington.The population was 79,168 at the 2020 census.Bloomington is the home to Indiana University Bloomington, the flagship campus of the IU System. Established in 1820, IU Bloomington has 45,328 students, as of September 2021, and is the original and largest campus of Indiana University. Most of the campus buildings are built of Indiana limestone. Bloomington has been designated a Tree City since 1984. The city was also the location of the Academy Award–winning 1979 movie Breaking Away, featuring a reenactment of Indiana University's annual Little 500 bicycle race.
