Hunt's Hill (also, Hunts Hill and formerly, Gouge Eye) is a former mining camp in Nevada County, California, United States. Hunt's Hill was located in the Sierra Nevada foothills about 6 miles in a straight line southeast of Nevada City and about 2 miles northwest of You Bet, on the north side of Greenhorn Creek, not far from the present intersection of Red Dog and Buckeye Roads. Hunt's Hill was founded in 1852 by a miner named Hunt. It was located on one of the deepest parts of the rich Blue Lead channel of gold-bearing gravel. In 1855, one of the mining claims established by some French miners, was “jumped". During the fight, one of the French miners lost an eye. Thereafter, that mine, and sometimes the town, were called Gouge Eye. By 1857, the town boasted two saloons, a hotel, a blacksmith and stable, a butcher shop, a boot and shoe store, and several grocery stores. In 1858, a stage line from Nevada City arrived. In 1866, seven cement mills for extracting gold from the “blue cement” were operating in the area. By 1880, the town was reduced to a combined store and saloon and a few houses. In 1895, one directory summed up the state of the community thus: "At the present time there is not much doing there." Since that same directory identified the town's justice of the peace and constable, what little happened must have been interesting. Today, it is just a historic site.

Scotts Flat Reservoir is an artificial lake in the Tahoe National Forest of Nevada County, California, 6.5 miles (10.5 km) east of Nevada City. The lake is at an elevation of 3,100 ft (940 m) and has a surface area of 850 acres (340 ha), with 7.5 miles (12.1 km) of shoreline lined with pine trees. Amenities consist of two launch ramps, a marina, campsites, a picnic area, sandy beaches, and a general store.The earthen rock-fill Scotts Flat Dam dates from 1948 and impounds Deer Creek to create the reservoir with a capacity of 49,000 acre-feet. At 175 feet above streambed, the dam is owned and operated by the county-level Nevada Irrigation District.

Red Dog (also known as Brooklyn or Brooklin) was a California gold rush mining town located in the Gold Country in south-central Nevada County, California, United States, 6 mi (9.7 km) northeast of Chicago Park. Red Dog Hill, a mine and campsite, was founded by three men all under the age of 22, and was named by their youngest, a 15-year-old prospector. As mining operations grew, the campsite became a settlement, and then a town with a population of 2,000 residents, before it was eventually abandoned. Still considered important today, Red Dog Townsite is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

You Bet is a small unincorporated community in Nevada County, California. You Bet is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, 7 miles (11.3 km) east of Grass Valley and 5.5 miles (8.9 km) northeast of Chicago Park.

KBAA (103.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Regional Mexican format to the Grass Valley, California, United States, area as well as the area north of Sacramento. This station is currently owned by Alfredo Plascencia, through licensee Lazer Licenses, LLC. The station is a semi-simulcast of sister station KGRB, due to having KHHM next door at 103.5. On October 21, 2014, Adelante Media Group announced that it was selling KBAA, its sister stations and its LPTV outlet in Sacramento to Lazer Broadcasting, pending FCC approval The transaction was consummated on December 31, 2014, at a price of $2.9 million.

The Lava Cap Mine is an abandoned gold mine in Nevada County, California. The mine is located 5 miles (8.0 km) southeast of Nevada City. The site is undergoing cleanup by the United States Environmental Protection Agency for arsenic contamination.

Little York (previously: Little New York) is the name of one of the first gold mining towns established in Nevada County, California as well as the name of the township in which it was situated. The town was located on the Lowell Ridge between Steephollow Creek and the Bear River, about 13 miles east of Nevada City, California and about 1 mile southwest of Dutch Flat, California at an elevation of about 2800 feet.

Willow Valley is an unincorporated community in Nevada County, California. Willow Valley is located 6.5 miles (10.5 km) south-southwest of North Bloomfield. It lies at an elevation of 2746 feet (837 m).

The Davis Mill is a historic stamp mill located off of North Bloomfield Road northeast of Nevada City, California. The mill served the Randolph Mine, a small gold mine run by the Davis family, from 1915 to 1940. It included the standard machinery of an early 20th century stamp mill, which consisted of a stamp battery, a rock crusher, an ore bin, an amalgamation table, concentrators, and a retort room. These parts were enclosed in a multi-story metal structure. The components and layout of the mill are well-preserved, providing an example of how miners processed ore in a stamp mill.The mill was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 1, 2010.
