Darlington is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia part of which is in the City of Onkaparinga and the City of Marion. For many years, Darlington was the southern entrance to Adelaide's urban area on Main South Road. It hosted many service stations of different brands. It represents the convergence of Flagstaff Road to Main South Road from the south, with Seacombe Road to the west, Diagonal Road to the northwest and Marion Road to the north with South Road continuing northeast. The new upgrades are taking place here and most are complete. In about 1851 the village of Darlington was created and named by Samuel William Lewis, the licensed victualler of the Flagstaff Inn, after the market town in County Durham in North East England named Darlington. Lewis was the licensed victualler of the Flagstaff Inn during these years 1848-1853 – 1858 – 1860–1864.Lewis was a stone mason by trade and he was contracted to erect the first two public memorials in the colony. The first was a memorial to Colonel William Light erected in 1843 over the site of his grave in Light Square. The second was the monument to Matthew Flinders at Stamford Hill near Port Lincoln in 1844.

Flagstaff Road is an arterial road in the southern suburbs of Adelaide in South Australia, Australia. It is one of the roads that carries commuter traffic between the city on the coastal plain and residential suburbs in the Adelaide Hills. The northern end branches off of South Road at Darlington at a traffic light intersection with Marion Road opposite. Most of the road is in the suburb of Flagstaff Hill.The southern end is a roundabout where Blacks Road crosses, and Happy Valley Drive continues from Flagstaff Road in the suburb of Happy Valley. There are no major intersections along its length, only residential streets and local collectors. The part of Flagstaff Road above the escarpment is a divided road with two lanes in each direction. The steepest section is a total of three lanes, with the middle lane reversible to match peak traffic flow. At the bottom, there are two lanes feeding into it from the traffic lights, and a total of five lanes feeding traffic towards Marion Road and South Road (northbound). The section with three lanes was upgraded to this standard in the 1980s to address increasing traffic due to expanding suburbs such as Flagstaff Hill and Aberfoyle Park. The overhead lane direction indicators were upgraded from green arrows to white ones using newer technology in 2013The 2019 South Australian state budget allocated A$26.5 million to widen the road and remove the reversible lane.

Seacombe Heights is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Marion. It gets its name from Seacombe on the Wirral Cheshire, where many settlers emigrated from. Area highlights include the Seacombe Heights Tennis Club on Grafton Street, where courts can be hired by the public. Seaview High School is located on a large land parcel within Seacombe Heights and features a large irrigated oval, popular with locals outside of school hours. Many Seacombe Heights locals enjoy nature walks in the O'Halloran Hill Conservation park.

Bedford Park is a southern suburb of Adelaide in South Australia. The Hancock family established a homestead and farm at the foot of the Adelaide Hills in the mid 19th century. A family name from an earlier generation lent its name to the property of Bedford which was later changed to Bedford Park. In 1917, 400 acres (1.6 km2) of the property was purchased by the South Australian Government and a tuberculosis sanatorium was built. Initially housing World War I soldiers the sanatorium was expanded until, by 1924, it had 74 beds and was a self-supporting farm with pigs, chickens, orchards and grain production. The sanatorium was demolished and Flinders University built in its place in the 1960s. Burbank Post Office opened on 26 September 1961 and was renamed Bedford Park in 1966, before closing in 1980.Bedford Park is the home of Flinders University and the Flinders Medical Centre. The greater part of the suburb lies within the City of Mitcham, but the north west corner lies within the City of Marion where the Warriparinga wetlands and Living Kaurna Cultural Centre are located beside the Sturt River. The suburb is in the state electorate of Davenport. It is in the federal Division of Boothby.

Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) is a major public tertiary hospital and teaching school, co-located with Flinders University and the 130 bed Flinders Private Hospital located at Bedford Park, South Australia. It opened in 1976. It serves as the trauma centre for the southern suburbs, and parts of the Adelaide Hills. An around-the-clock emergency retrieval service brings patients to FMC by road or helicopter.FMC is part of the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) which includes the Noarlunga Hospital, Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia and a range of outreach and community-based services.

Sturt is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Marion local government area. It was named after the explorer Captain Charles Sturt. Sturt is in the South Australian House of Assembly electoral district of Gibson and the Australian House of Representatives Division of Boothby.

Flinders railway station is the terminus of the Flinders line in the southern Adelaide suburb of Bedford Park. It serves the adjacent Flinders Medical Centre precinct and Flinders University.

Flinders University Museum of Art (FUMA), sometimes referred to as Flinders Art Museum, is preserving and developing the Flinders University’s historical and contemporary art collections. The Art Museum was formally established in 1978 by resolution of the Council of Flinders University to house an expanding collection of art, which since the first year of undergraduate teaching at the University in 1966, was being actively acquired to complement courses in Fine Arts. First established in 1997 in Grote Street before relocating to the State Library of South Australia on North Terrace in 2003, the City Gallery made a substantial contribution to the cultural fabric of the State until its closure in June 2018. From 2019 a dedicated gallery, co-located with the Art Museum at the University’s Bedford Park campus, presents diverse and inclusive curatorial projects that provoke enquiry and support innovative collaborations between regional and global partners.

Mitchell Park is a suburb south of Adelaide. It shares common boundaries with Marion, Bedford Park, Clovelly Park, and Ascot Park. In recent years it has undergone major redevelopments through a program of urban renewal which included the renovation of many properties owned by the former South Australian Housing Trust. These projects have won many awards.The Flinders railway line forms the eastern boundary of Mitchell Park.

Oaklands Park is a southern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the City of Marion. The Marion Shopping Centre is a major feature of the suburb.
