Barford, Norfolk

Wramplingham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated on the River Tiffey some 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Wymondham and 7 miles (11 km) west of Norwich. [1] The civil parish has an area of 3.47 square kilometres and in 2001 had a population of 110 in 44 households, increasing to a population of 115 in 51 households at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of South Norfolk.

The River Tiffey is a small river in Norfolk, England and a tributary of the River Yare. It rises near Hethel and passes through Wymondham before flowing generally north-eastwards passing through Kimberley, Carleton Forehoe, Wramplingham and Barford where the Tiffey joins the River Yare.

Marlingford and Colton is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, made from the villages of Colton and Marlingford. It covers an area of 6.62 km2 (2.56 sq mi) and had a population of 384 in 148 households at the 2001 census, the population reducing to 375 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of South Norfolk. The parish of Colton was merged with Marlingford on 1 April 1935. In 2001 the parish was renamed to "Marlingford and Colton".

Great Melton is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 10.24 km2 (3.95 sq mi) and had a population of 148 in 59 households at the 2001 census, increasing to 163 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of South Norfolk. There is a local legend that the area is haunted by a phantom coach, containing four ladies in white.

Carleton Forehoe is a village and former civil parish 9 miles (14 km) west of Norwich, now in the parish of Kimberley, in the South Norfolk district of Norfolk, England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 123.

Honingham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, located 8 miles (13 km) to the west of Norwich along the A47 trunk road. It covers an area of 10.55 km2 (4.07 sq mi) and had a population of 342 in 145 households at the 2001 census, increasing to a population of 358 in 160 households at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Broadland. Honingham Hall was demolished in 1966.The villages name means 'homestead/village of Huna's people'.

Easton College is a college of further and higher education in Norfolk, located on a 200-hectare (490-acre) campus in the village of Easton. The college has specialist facilities for training in agriculture, horticulture, arboriculture, countryside, animal studies, and equine, alongside provision in construction, engineering, foundation learning, sport and public services. The college is part of City College Norwich following the de-merger of Easton & Otley College in January 2020. The Otley campus became part of Suffolk New College.

Easton is a village and civil parish in Norfolk, England, to the west of Norwich. It covers an area of 6.25 km2 (2.41 sq mi) and had a population of 1,141 in 445 households at the 2001 census, the population increasing to 1,514 at the 2011 Census. Located close to the Royal Norfolk Showground and the A47, it also houses a campus of Easton & Otley College, a large agricultural college, in the Grade II listed 18th-century Easton Hall.The villages name means 'East farm/settlement'. The Grade I listed Church of England parish church of St Peter stands at the west end of the village, near the roundabout at the end of the southern Norwich bypass. It is built mainly of flint, rendered in part, with stone dressings. Restored in the 1880s, it dates from the late 12th century with additions made in the 13th and 15th centuries. The tower collapsed in the 18th century. The south doorway is 12th century and the marble font dates from about 1200. Easton was the birthplace of the 14th century Cardinal Adam of Easton, who was imprisoned in Italy for conspiring against Pope Urban VI and spared execution through the intervention of King Richard II.The village's football team, Easton FC, currently plays in the Anglian Combination.

Honingham Hall was a large country house at Honingham in Norfolk.

Kett's Oak is one of the 50 Great British Trees. The ancient oak tree (Quercus robur) is located at the side of the B1172 road between Wymondham and Hethersett in Norfolk, England. The tree is the traditional location where in 1549 Robert Kett and his brother William addressed a group of men in what was to become Kett's Rebellion. Their grievances concerned the enclosing of the common lands and the rising cost of living. The rebellion failed and several rebels including Robert and William Kett were hanged. Nine of the rebels were hanged at Kett's Oak.The tree is in poor condition. A split has been filled with cement and the tree is bound with iron bands. In August 2020, Norfolk County Council applied biochar to the roots to improve its health.
