Davenham Hall

Davenham (; DAY-vuh-nuhm) is a village and civil parish in Cheshire, England. It is part of the Borough of Cheshire West and Chester. It had a population of 2,745 at the 2011 census. It is in the centre of the Cheshire Plain near both the River Dane and River Weaver.

Northwich Rural District was a rural district surrounding, but not including the towns of Northwich and Winsford in Cheshire, which were separate urban districts. It was created in 1894 from the Northwich Rural Sanitary District. In 1936, several changes were made to the boundaries of the rural district; the most significant was enlargement due to the abolition of Tarporley Urban District. Before the 1936 changes, the district also surrounded the town of Middlewich. In 1974, the district was abolished and the area along with Northwich Urban District, Winsford Urban District and parts of Runcorn Rural District became the district (later Borough) of Vale Royal. The council was based in Hartford (west of Northwich) which became the headquarters of Vale Royal District Council. The former headquarters site has now been sold and a housing estate built in the grounds.

Kingsmead is a residential development and civil parish in the Cheshire West and Chester district, Cheshire, England, located on the eastern bank of the River Weaver. South of Northwich and west of Leftwich, the development is a greenfield site and was constructed by Redrow to hold a population of 5,000 people as a suburb of Northwich. The parish was created on 1 April 2011 from parts of Davenham and Northwich. It has a post code starting with CW9.

Leftwich is a village in Cheshire, England. It has been absorbed into the town of Northwich, and is situated within the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester. The name, given as merely 'Wice' in the Domesday Book of 1086, is written 'Leftetewych' in a document of 1278 and derives from 'Leoftæt's wic' (Leoftæt being a woman's name).Leftwich was historically a manor and township, comprising most of the area between the rivers Weaver and Dane. As well as encompassing the area around Davenham parish church, Leftwich also extended slightly to the north of the River Dane, including the site of the former Northwich Memorial Hall. In 1894 the northern half of Leftwich, which since 1880 had formed part of the Northwich Local Board district, was added to the civil parish and urban district of Northwich. In 1936 Leftwich civil parish ceased to exist, and all of its population was transferred to the civil parish of Davenham; however, most of the same area was subsequently annexed to Northwich in 1955, following the post-war construction of a large housing estate at Leftwich Green by Northwich Urban District Council.The village has two schools: Leftwich Community Primary School and The County High School, Leftwich. Leftwich is to the east of Kingsmead and to the north of Davenham.

The River Dane is a tributary of the River Weaver that originates in the Peak District area of England. The name of the river (earlier Daven) is probably from the Old Welsh dafn, meaning a "drop or trickle", implying a slow-moving river.
