Somerby (Juxta Bigby)

Bigby is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The village is situated about 10 miles (20 km) south from the Humber Bridge, and 4 miles (6 km) east from the town of Brigg. The village lies in the Lincolnshire Wolds, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the administrative border with North Lincolnshire. The hamlets of Kettleby and Kettleby Thorpe lie within the parish, and that of Somerby almost immediately to the south. According to the 2001 census Bigby had a population of 234, increasing to 347 at the 2011 census.

St Mary's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Barnetby, Lincolnshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

Howsham railway station was a station in Howsham, Lincolnshire on the line between Grimsby and Lincoln, England. The station opened in 1848 closed on 1 November 1965 as were many neighbouring stations, however the line it stood on remains open.

Barnetby railway station serves the village of Barnetby-le-Wold in North Lincolnshire, England. It is operated by TransPennine Express, with East Midlands Railway and Northern Trains also serving the station. Barnetby railway station is unstaffed, and is popular with railway enthusiasts for the freight which passes through. It is also the closest station to Humberside Airport, located 2+1⁄2 miles (4.0 km) to the east.

The Wrawby Junction rail crash was a train crash which occurred on 9 December 1983, at Wrawby Junction, near Barnetby station, North Lincolnshire, England. It happened when a British Rail freight train collided at low speed with the side of a local passenger train. The first carriage of the passenger train was derailed and turned over onto its side, and one passenger was killed instantly. In the subsequent inquiry, the accident was deemed to have been caused by a signalman failing to secure a set of points that he had operated manually after an equipment failure.

On 17 October 1898 at Wrawby Junction, on what was the Great Central Railway near Brigg in Lincolnshire, England, a passenger train collided with a derailed goods train; killing 8 people and injuring 26 more. The passenger train was the 16:45 from Cleethorpes to Manchester consisting of a brake van, three passenger carriages and a rear guard's van. The goods train which had left Grimsby earlier in the day for Doncaster consisted of 44 waggons loaded with larch tree trunks, three trunks to a load secured with chains. The length of the trunks (up to 42 ft (13 m)) necessitated the close coupling of the waggons. The goods train was being shunted on a curve at low speed adjacent to the main line when five trucks derailed just as the passenger train approached. One truck toppled over; its load of timber projecting over the main line. The brake van 'was carried away with the exception of the offside and roof'. The next two carriages were 'clean swept away' above the floor level; the first compartment of the third passenger carriage was also destroyed. The investigation admitted that it was not possible to stop shunting operations from occurring on lines parallel and close to passenger running lines.

Cadney cum Howsham is a former civil parish, now in the parish of Cadney, in the North Lincolnshire district, in the ceremonial county of Lincolnshire, England. It consisted of the villages of Cadney and Howsham, several farms, and mainly arable farmland. In 1931 the parish had a population of 400. On the 1 April 1936 the civil parish was abolished and merged with Newstead to form Cadney.

Wrawby Junction is a busy railway junction located a short distance west of Barnetby, North Lincolnshire, England and controls the confluence of the Network Rail routes from Lincoln, Retford and Scunthorpe towards Immingham and Cleethorpes. The junction was controlled by a large signal box of part-brick, part-wooden, construction and is now controlled from York Rail Operating Centre (ROC).

Howsham is a village in the civil parish of Cadney in North Lincolnshire, England. It lies on the B1434 road, 3.5 miles (6 km) south from Barnetby and 3 miles (5 km) south-east from Brigg.

Barnetby le Wold is a village and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire, England, located between Brigg and Immingham. The village is also near Barton-upon-Humber. Barnetby railway station serves the village and Humberside Airport.

Elsham Hall is a 17th-century English country house situated in its own parkland in Elsham, North Lincolnshire. The park and gardens are open to the public.

Elsham Priory was an Augustinian monastery in Lincolnshire, England. The only surviving trace is a fishpond in the grounds of Elsham Hall. Beatrice d'Amundeville founded the monastery in the 12th century; it was dissolved in 1536.
