Romemu is a Jewish progressive egalitarian community in New York City. It was founded by Rabbi David Ingber in March, 2006. The organization shares space with West End Presbyterian Church on New York's Upper West Side, but also has a facility across from the church for its yeshiva and offices.Romemu describes itself as "a welcoming, experiential, irreverently pious, intergenerational Jewish community that elevates and transforms individuals and communities into more compassionate human beings," and seeks to expand spiritual engagement in Jewish religious practices. The organization is part of the Jewish Renewal movement, and has over 1,000 members.In 2019, the organization launched an annual summer yeshiva program, Romemu Yeshiva, offering what it described as a "neo-Hasidic" yeshiva experience merging spirituality, mysticism, and meditation with traditional text study.During the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization faced challenges after it imposed a vaccine mandate for in-person attendance, due to what Romemu's executive director described as "a vocal and not insignificant group" of anti-vaccine congregants.Romemu is a member of the Jewish Emergent Network.

The 103rd Street station is a local station on the IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of 103rd Street and Broadway on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, within Manhattan Valley, it is served by the 1 train at all times. The 103rd Street station was constructed for the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT) as part of the city's first subway line, which was approved in 1900. Construction of the line segment that includes 103rd Street began on August 22 of the same year. The station opened on October 27, 1904, as one of the original 28 stations of the New York City Subway. The station's platforms were lengthened in 1948, and the station was renovated in the 2000s. The 103rd Street station contains two side platforms and three tracks; the center track is not used in regular service. The station was built with tile and mosaic decorations. The mezzanine above the platforms contains exits to 103rd Street and Broadway.

Edward A. Reynolds West Side High School is a New York City public alternative high school located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Known for many years simply as "West Side High," it was renamed in honor of the school's longtime principal following his unexpected death in 2001.

The Amsterdam Houses is a housing project in New York City that was established in the borough of Manhattan in 1948. The project consists of 13 buildings with over 1,000 apartment units. It covers a 9-acre expanse of the Upper West Side, and is bordered by West 61st and West 64th Streets, from Amsterdam Avenue to West End Avenue, with a 175-apartment addition that was completed in 1974 on West 65th Street between Amsterdam Avenue and West End Avenue. It is owned and managed by New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).

The Frederick Douglass Houses are a public housing project located in the New York City borough of Manhattan, in the Manhattan Valley neighborhood of Upper West Side, named for civil rights pioneer Frederick Douglass. The actual buildings are located between 100th Street and 104th Street, to the east of Amsterdam Avenue and the west of Manhattan Avenue. The complex is owned and operated by the New York City Housing Authority.

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Manhattan is a Lutheran church located at 164 West 100th Street just east of Amsterdam Avenue, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. It was founded in 1888 as the German Evangelical Lutheran Church to serve German immigrants moving into the Upper West Side. It initially held services in a storefront until money had been raised to buy land and build a sanctuary.The double-height brick and stone masonry church building was constructed in 1908, and was designed by George W. Conable in the Gothic Revival style. In the 1950s, the building was slated for demolition as part of Robert Moses' urban renewal program, but the parish resisted and eventually, after 10 years, won the battle. It became the only structure within 32 acres (13 ha) in its neighborhood not to have been razed by Moses. On September 26, 2009, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Cleburne Building (also known as 924 West End Avenue) is an apartment building located at the northeast corner of West End Avenue and West 105th Street on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City. The Cleburne was completed in 1913 by real estate developer Harry Schiff on the site of the mansion of Mr. and Mrs. Isidor Straus who perished on the RMS Titanic. There is a memorial to Mr. and Mrs. Straus in nearby Straus Park.The building, which is designed in the Arts and Crafts Movement style, has a handsome porte-cochère.

The Church of the Ascension is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 221 West 107th Street in the Manhattan Valley section of the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City. The parish was established in 1895.

104th Street was a local station on the demolished IRT Ninth Avenue Line in Manhattan, New York City. It had two levels. The lower level was built first and had two tracks and two side platforms and served local trains. The upper level was built as part of the Dual Contracts and had one track that served express trains that bypassed this station. It opened on June 21, 1879 and closed on June 11, 1940. The next southbound stop was 99th Street. The next northbound stop was 116th Street station until June 3, 1903 and then 110th Street. This had a view of the Suicide Curve at 110th Street.

Straus Park is a small landscaped park on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, at the intersection of Broadway, West End Avenue, and 106th Street. The most notable feature is a bronze 1913 statue by American artist Augustus Lukeman of a nymph gazing over a calm expanse of water in memory of Ida and Isidor Straus, husband and wife, he a United States congressman and co-owner of Macy's, who died together on RMS Titanic. The model for the statue was Audrey Munson. On the memorial is carved a passage from Second Samuel 1:23, "Lovely and pleasant were they in their lives and in their death they were not parted." The passage refers to Ida's choice to stay with her beloved husband, Isidor, rather than get safely into a lifeboat.The Strauses lived in a house at 2747 Broadway, between 105th and 106th Streets, one block south of the location of the memorial.The park exists on a small triangle of land at the intersection of Broadway and West End Avenue. It was known as Schuyler Square when acquired by the city in 1895 and was renamed Bloomingdale Square in 1907. Between 1995 and 1997, Straus Park was renovated and expanded to the west, by the addition of 15 feet of West End Avenue. An endowment established by the Straus family funded the transformation of a neglected reflecting pool in front of the sculpture into a planting bed. The Friends of Straus Park fund maintenance and the planting of seasonal flowers.

The Metro Theater is a New York City movie theater, located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan at 2626 Broadway between 99th and 100th Streets. An example of Art Deco architecture of New York City, it opened in 1933 and closed in 2005.

The Ariel East and Ariel West are a pair of apartment buildings on either side of Broadway at 99th Street, the tallest buildings on Manhattan's predominantly residential Upper West Side. Ariel East is at 2628 Broadway, and West is at 245 West 99th Street. When proposed in 2005, the Ariel stirred intense controversy in the upscale residential neighborhood that had believed zoning laws precluded the construction of buildings over 16 stories in height. Ariel East is 396 ft (121 m), and Ariel West is 340 ft (100 m). Construction was completed in 2007.
