St Alkmund's Church is a Church of England parish church on Kedleston Road in Derby. It was built in the 1970s to replace the Victorian St Alkmund's Church which had been demolished in 1968 to enable the construction of the Derby inner ring road, St Alkmund's Way (A601).When the Victorian church was demolished, traces of several earlier churches were revealed, stretching back to the 9th century. Artefacts found included the stone sarcophagus of Alkmund of Derby, now in Derby Museum and Art Gallery.The new church was consecrated in 1972. The parish of St Werburgh's was combined with St Alkmund's in 1984.In December 2017 it was announced that the incumbent Revd Canon Jean Burgess was to become the next Archdeacon of Bolton, Diocese of Manchester. In March 2020, the previous curate, James Durrant, was appointed as Assistant Curate (Associate Minister) of St Alkmund's and Priest-in-Charge of St Paul's, Chester Green.Following the sad death of vicar-designate Ian Moutford in December 2019, the church went into vacancy for a short period with Revd Susie Curtis acting as Interim Associate Minister and Paul Desborough as curate. On 7th November 2021 the Revd Mina Munns was licensed as Vicar of St Alkmund's and in 2022 was joined by the Revd Fay Price as Associate Curate (alongside James Durrant). St Alkmund's today is an active, family-focused church who meet in the building every Sunday morning at 10am and also stream Live to their YouTube Channel. Multiple other services and activities are advertised through their social media pages on Instagram and Facebook.

Bath Street Mill was a silk throwing mill in Derby, built in 1851 for George Holme. In spite of the recession in the silk industry in 1857, he expanded the mill in 1868. In 2008 plans were made to convert the mill into flats and offices, but the building was damaged beyond repair by a fire in June 2009, and later demolished.

Handyside Bridge, also known as Derwent Bridge, is a former railway bridge in Darley Abbey, Derbyshire, England which was converted to a foot bridge in 1976 following closure of the railway in 1968. Named for its builders, Andrew Handyside & Co., it is a tied-arch bridge constructed from riveted wrought iron and is situated at the entrance to Darley Park in Derby. It spans the River Derwent and was part of the Great Northern Railway Derbyshire Extension popularly known as the (Derby) Friargate Line. The next station to the south was Friargate which has another bridge built by Andrew Handyside.

St Mary's Church is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Derby, England. A Grade II* listed building, it stands on Bridge Gate overlooking St Alkmund's Way. The church was designed by architect A. W. N. Pugin and according to Simon Jenkins, it is one of Pugin's "few complete works".

Saint Alkmund's Way Footbridge is a replacement cycle and footbridge in Derby, England over the A601 (St Alkmund's Way). The 2007 design includes sculptures of silk bobbins at its entrance and exit that are inspired by the nearby Silk Mill museum.

Saint Alkmund's Church was a Victorian church, which stood in a Georgian square between Bridgegate and Queen Street in Derby; this was the only Georgian square in the city. The church and its yard were demolished in 1968 for construction of a road to improve traffic flow. Churches dedicated to Saint Alkmund had been constructed on this site since the 9th century. Artefacts recovered from this site include a stone sarcophagus and remains of a 4-metre (13 ft) tall stone cross, both now held at the Derby Museum and Art Gallery. The building was replaced with a modern church on Kedleston Road, St Alkmund’s (new) Church, Derby.

The Cathedral Quarter is one of five areas within Derby city centre, based around the name of the Cathedral. It is bound by St Alkmund's Way and Ford Street to the north and west, the River Derwent to the east, and Albert Street, Victoria Street, Wardwick and Friargate to the south. These include Derby Museum and Art Gallery, Derby Central Library, Derby Local Studies Library, The Silk Mill, Déda, The QUAD, The Assembly Rooms, The Guildhall, Derby Tourist Information centre and, of course, Derby Cathedral. The Silk Mill is at the start of the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site, marking the city's important role in the birth of the Industrial Revolution. Many outdoor events take place within The Cathedral Quarter, mostly centred on The Market Place or Cathedral Green.
