The name of the college was changed to Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic the late 1970s, but changed back to the original name in 2009. South Carolina Highway 56 (Asheville Highway) is the main road through Hilltop, leading southeast into Spartanburg and northwest 9 miles (14 km) to Inman.

Boiling Springs High School is a public high school located in Boiling Springs, South Carolina. A new campus for the high school opened in the fall of 2019. The campus was funded through community support for a bond referendum passed in the fall of 2016. City Councilman Glenn Walker and City Councilman Blayden Seesholtz created a community forum to help pass the bond referendum by a 4-3 vote.
