The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis is a spinal cord injury research center and a designated Center of Excellence at the University of Miami's Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. The Miami Project was co-founded in 1985 by Barth A. Green and Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Nick Buoniconti after Buoniconti's son, Marc, sustained a spinal cord injury during a college football game. The Miami Project's international team is housed in the Lois Pope LIFE Center and includes more than 250 scientists, researchers and clinicians.

The Miami City Hospital, Building No. 1 is a historic hospital in Miami, Florida, United States. The historic hospital, which is also known as The Alamo, is located at 1611 Northwest 12th Avenue. On December 31, 1979, the building was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It is known today as Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Jackson Memorial Hospital's Miami Transplant Institute is the largest transplant center in the U.S., performing more transplants in 2019 than any U.S. center has ever performed in a single year. It is the only hospital in Florida to perform every kind of organ transplant for both adult and pediatric patients.It is currently the third-largest public hospital and third-largest teaching hospital in the United States. The hospital is a referral center, a magnet for research and home to the Ryder Trauma Center, the only Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center in Miami-Dade County, the most populous county in Florida and the seventh-most populous county in the nation.Jackson Memorial is the centerpiece of the Jackson Health System, owned and operated by Miami-Dade County through the Public Health Trust. The hospital is supported by Miami-Dade County residents through a half-cent sales tax. In 2014, the Public Health Trust received $364 million in unrestricted funds from Miami-Dade County. In 2013, Miami-Dade voters approved a separate $830 million bond program for major upgrades to the facility.

The University of Miami Division of Surgical Neurooncology is the neurological surgery center at the University of Miami's Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine and one of the largest and most comprehensive programs for brain tumor treatment in the United States. It is located in Miami. The center is the only medical center in South Florida that offers comprehensive approaches and treatments for brain tumors, including offering patients interdisciplinary team assessments that include the university's departments of neurosurgery, neurology, radiation therapy, and oncology. Patient management paradigms are case-specific and tailored to individual patient needs with patient-specific treatment protocols.

Civic Center station is a station on the Metrorail rapid transit system in the Health District of Miami, Florida. The station is located at the intersection of Northwest 12th Avenue (State Road 933) and 15th Street. Civic Center provides a convenient connection for University of Miami medical students by connecting the hospital area to the main campus at University Station. The station contains a branch of the Miami-Dade Public Library System.The station opened for service on December 17, 1984.

Culmer station is a station on the Metrorail rapid transit system just northeast of the Spring Garden neighborhood of Miami, Florida, near the Midtown Interchange. This station is located at the intersection of Northwest 11th Street and Seventh Avenue (US 441), opening to service December 17, 1984. The station is named after Father John Culmer, a local civil rights leader who labored tirelessly to improve the living conditions of black Miamians.

Spring Garden is a neighborhood of Miami, Florida, United States. The section of the city is one of the oldest purpose-built single-family residential neighborhoods in Miami and in the Greater Miami area. It is bound by the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) to the north, the Seybold Canal (formerly Wagner Creek and Northwest Eighth Street Road to the east, by the Miami River to the southwest, and West 12th Avenue (SR 933) to the west.

Santa Clara station is a station on the Metrorail rapid transit system in the industrial district of the Allapattah neighborhood in Miami, Florida. This station is located near the intersection of Northwest 12th Avenue (State Road 933) and 20th Street. It opened to service December 17, 1984. Along with Brownsville station, Santa Clara is generally the lowest ridership station on the system.

Miami station was an intercity passenger station originally built for the Seaboard Air Line Railroad (SAL). The first SAL train to Miami arrived on January 8, 1927, and the station building was constructed in 1930. The depot was located at 2210 NW 7th Avenue in Allapattah, two miles (3.2 km) north of downtown. When Amtrak took over control of passenger services in 1971, it consolidated its interstate routes here. The station soon began to show its age, and on May 13, 1977, Amtrak began construction of a new station near the SAL's Hialeah Yards. Service was moved to the new station after June 19, 1978.
