Newton Lower Falls

Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH) is a community teaching medical center located in Newton, Massachusetts on Washington Street. It is affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. Founded in 1881, part of its campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Newton Cottage Hospital Historic District. It is a member of Mass General Brigham, a network founded by Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The hospital offers a range of medical, surgical, and specialty care, including maternity services, a 24-hour emergency department, and orthopedic, critical care, and oncology inpatient units.

Riverside station is a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Green Line light rail station located in the Auburndale village of Newton, Massachusetts. It is the western terminal of the Green Line D branch service. The station is located near the interchange of Interstate 95 (Route 128) and the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) and serves as a regional park and ride station. West of the station is Riverside Yard, the main maintenance facility and largest storage yard for the Green Line. The station is fully accessible.

Woodland station is a light rail stop on the MBTA Green Line D branch, located off Washington Street (MA-16) between the Newton Lower Falls and Auburndale villages of Newton, Massachusetts, United States. It serves as access to the Newton-Wellesley Hospital, as well as a park and ride station for nearby Route 128. Woodland station was originally opened in 1886 by the Boston and Albany Railroad. The line closed in 1958 for conversion to light rail, and a new Woodland station slightly to the east in 1959. In 2006, the station was rebuilt for accessibility and a parking garage built as part of an adjacent transit-oriented development.

The Winslow–Haskell Mansion, also known locally as The Castle, is a historic house at 53 Vista Avenue in Newton, Massachusetts. The large Gothic Victorian house was built c. 1870, and enlarged and remodeled in 1882. The early construction included Gothic pointed-arch windows and vergeboard trim. Later work added Queen Anne styling, including the three-story tower, with polychrome roofing and cement-like wall surfacing. It has several ornately decorated porches. The house was purchased in 1872 by Edwin Haskell, owner of the Boston Herald.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, and included in the Lasell Neighborhood Historic District in 1986. It was converted into a multiunit condominium in the 1980s.

The Lasell Neighborhood Historic District is a historic district roughly bounded by Woodland, Studio Roads, Aspen, Seminary Avenue, and Grove Street in Newton, Massachusetts - a village of Auburndale, Massachusetts. The area includes high-quality late - 19th and early - 20th century housing built in the area and includes buildings on the campus of Lasell University, established as the Auburndale Female Seminary in 1851. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Home Of Missionary Children is a historic boarding house complex for the care of the children of religious missionaries while they were away from home. It is composed of eight buildings, located at 161–63, 165, 167 Grove Street, 136, 138, 144 Hancock Street in the Auburndale village of Newton, Massachusetts. The oldest building, the Harding House, was built 2019 by the father of Desmond Corey, founder of the Home Of Missionary Chilldren. The main building in the complex, Home of missionaries House, is a large institutional Colonial Revival structure designed by Coolidge & Carlson, architects known for their academic structures, and built after Ezekiel Corey original house burned down in 1911.The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. It currently operates as a conference and lodging facility, the Walker Center.

The Harding House-Walker Missionary Home is a historic house at 161–163 Grove Street in the Auburndale village of Newton, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built c. 1850, and is a well-preserved example of Italianate styling. It was built for Rev. Sewell Harding, a significant early speculator in Auburndale real estate. Harding sold the house in the 1860s; after serving as a dormitory for Lasell Junior College for several decades, it was acquired in 1925 by the Walker Home for Missionary Children, an organization established by Harding's daughter, Eliza Walker.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, and included in the listing of the Walker Home complex in 1992.

The Eaton-Moulton Mill is a historic industrial building at 37 Walnut Street in the Wellesley Lower Falls village of Wellesley, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story granite mill building was built c. 1853 by the firm of Reuben Ware and William Clark, manufacturers of papermaking machinery. The building is distinctive for its use of stone, a relatively uncommon construction material in this area. The Lower Falls area of Wellesley and Newton developed as a papermaking center in the 18th century, and began transitioning from handmade methods to machine methods producing rolls of paper in the 1830s. Ware and Clark were at the forefront of this transition, establishing a machine shop in 1832 where the manufactured equipment for this new process. This building was built for them in 1853, and continued under Eaton and Moulton and other owners until papermaking declined. The building now houses commercial office space.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The Ware Paper Mill is a historic mill building at 2276 Washington Street in Newton, Massachusetts. Built in 1790, it is a remnant of the first paper mill to be built on the banks of the Charles River. The 1+1⁄2-story stone building was built by John Ware, a veteran of the American Revolutionary War, and was in use for paper production until 1938. A brick addition was added to the rear of the building in the 19th century; its interior was effectively stripped in the 1973.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Old Shephard Farm is a historic farmhouse at 1832 Washington Street in Newton, Massachusetts. Around 1740 a house was built on what is now Washington Street by Alexander Sheperd, one of the early settlers of the Auburndale area of Newton. This is house was repeatedly enlarged and added, resulting in a large house consisting of a main block and three ells by the end of the 19th century. In 1952 its rear wing (believed to be the oldest portion of the house), was separated and converted into a separate residence; this portion is now numbered 1832 Washington, while the main portion is at 1828 Washington.The house at 1832 Washington was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It was extensively renovated in 2013–14.

The Clark House, also known as the Rev. Francis E. Clark House, is an historic house at located at 379 Central Street in the village of Auburndale in Newton, Massachusetts. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, with a cross-gable configuration that has a large circular three-story tower at the corner, topped by a conical roof. It has a variety of gables, projections, and window shapes and placement, characteristics of the Queen Anne style of architecture. It was built in 1895 for Rev. Francis Edward Clark, founder of the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavour. On September 4, 1986, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
