The village of Hawkesville in Ontario, Canada is a small community in the township of Wellesley in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo. Several Mennonite families are located nearby. Hawkesville is noted for its custom-built furniture industry.

Elmira Airport (TC LID: CNT6) is located 2 nautical miles (3.7 km; 2.3 mi) southwest of Elmira, Ontario, Canada. CNT6 is the original Elmira, Ontario airport. It is located in the middle of Mennonite country with Old Order Mennonites, and the fields to the north and south of the airport are often plowed using horses. When expedient, the farmers contract with others who have tractors, and then the fields are plowed with tractors (e.g. spring of 2011 was very wet and so using tractors when the fields were dry allowed the crops to be planted more quickly). For many years the Guelph Gliding and Soaring Association operated from this location but in 2008, their membership dropped off and with increased expenses, they ended the operation. A windstorm in the spring of 2008 destroyed many of their sailplanes that were tied up on the field, further hitting the assets of the club. One of the members' planes was in a trailer that was not tied down and the trailer ended up being blown over the fence into the neighboring farmer's field. CNT6 is the home of C-GHQU, the SeaBeast, a converted Republic RC3 Seabee. As a Seabee, C-GHQU first flew in 1947. As the SeaBeast, C-GHQU first flew in May 2011.

Paradise Lake is a lake in Ontario. This small lake is in the Township of Wellesley, Ontario in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. It is due south of the large village of St. Clements and near the village of Bamberg.

Sunfish Lake is a small, 25 hectare meromictic lake located north-west of Waterloo, Ontario, in the village of St. Agatha in northern Wilmot Township, and is the source of Laurel Creek. It is one of a few meromictic lakes in Ontario, that is, its deep bottom waters (21 metres or 70 feet) are totally devoid of oxygen. The surface and bottom layers do not mix, and the lake is vulnerable to environmental damage.Restrictions on lake use include no motorized boats, no fertilizer or pesticide use, and regular septic tank inspections. Sunfish Lake is often compared to Paradise Lake which is about 3 km to the north-west, in Wellesley Township. Paradise Lake is a much larger lake and accommodates many more properties with the ability to live year-round. There are about 20 cottages and homes on the lake, of which only a small handful are zoned for year-round residence, the rest are zoned recreational and are not used nor lanes cleared during the winter.

St. Jacobs is a community and former village located in the township of Woolwich in Waterloo Region, Ontario, just north of the city of Waterloo. It is a popular location for tourism, due to its quaint village appearance, retail focus and Mennonite heritage. Waterloo Region is still home to the largest population of Old Order Mennonites in Canada, particularly in the areas around St Jacobs and Elmira. They are often seen on the local roads using their traditional horse and buggy transportation; many also use horses to pull the implements in their farm fields.The Conestogo River, which powered the village's original mills by the 1850s, runs through the village. At the time of the 2016 Census, St. Jacobs had a growing population of 1,988 people.

The Township of Wellesley is the rural, north-western township of the Regional Municipality of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. It encompasses 277.79 km2 (107.26 sq mi) and had a population of 11,260 in the Canada 2016 Census.

Laurel Creek Conservation Area, or simply Laurel Creek, is a park located in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. The park is owned by the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA). Laurel Creek is open year-round and offers several outdoor activities, such as swimming, campsites, picnic tables, and playgrounds.

Elmira is the largest community in the township of Woolwich, Ontario, Canada. It is 15 kilometres (9 mi) north of the city of Waterloo near the Regional Municipality of Waterloo's northern border with Wellington County. The community was listed in the 2016 Canadian census as having a population of 10,161.Waterloo Region is home to the largest population of Old Order Mennonites in Canada, particularly around St Jacobs and Elmira. The Waterloo-St. Jacobs Railway (WSJR) was a heritage railway west of Toronto that ran between Waterloo and St. Jacobs, Ontario from 1997 to 1999. The railway used two diesel locomotives built in the 1950s, originally owned by Canadian National Railways, and repainted them in their original paint scheme. The locomotives were named Spirit of St. Jacobs and Pride of Waterloo. It also had several passenger cars painted in the same paint scheme. Excursions had three stops, and visitors could board on a later train. The Railway allowed visitors to see farms of the Old Order Mennonites and visit the village of St. Jacobs. The railway ceased operation in 2000 due to maintenance costs. In late 2006, the two diesels and three passenger cars were purchased by the West Coast Railway Association. However, as of 2008 the diesels and one passenger car remain in Via Rail's Mimico maintenance yard.

Laurel Heights Secondary School (formerly Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School) is a high school in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, operated by the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB). It opened in September 2004 and provides both academic and vocational programs. The school had 1,500 students as of the 2020–21 school year. Each year, around 450 new grade 9 students are enrolled from the following elementary schools: Centennial Public School, Edna Staebler Public School, Laurelwood Public School, and Vista Hills Public School The school is located on 650 Laurelwood Drive in northwest Waterloo. It was originally named after Sir John A. Macdonald, the first prime minister of Canada; in 2022, it was renamed to Laurel Heights Secondary School (LHSS).

The Waterloo Central Railway (WCR) is a non-profit heritage railway owned and operated by the Southern Ontario Locomotive Restoration Society (SOLRS). In May 2007, SOLRS received joint approval from the Region of Waterloo and the City of Waterloo to run trains from Waterloo to St Jacobs and potentially as far north as Elmira. On a typical operating day, the train runs three times a day on Tuesdays (June to August), Thursdays (May to October) and Saturday (April to October). In 2015, the railway lost regular running rights south of Northfield Drive to make way for the Ion light rail project. All Market Train service now runs between St. Jacobs Farmers' Market, the Village of St. Jacobs, and Elmira, Ontario. The train also runs on certain special events including the Maple Syrup Festival in early April.

St. Jacobs Farmers' Market is a farmers' market and flea market in Woolwich, Ontario, Canada. It is located to the south of King Street North, to the east of Weber Street North, and to the west of the railway tracks. It is the largest year-round farmer's market in Canada, and is a popular destination for residents of the town and nearby communities, as well as tourists from Canada, the United States, and Europe. It draws about 1 million visitors annually.It was established in April 1975. The main building of the market was destroyed by a fire on 2 September 2013. The market was rebuilt and re-opened on 11 June 2015. The market is on Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the year.
