Glenbeigh

Glenbeigh/Glencar G.A.A Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from the small village of Glenbeigh, near Killorglin in County Kerry.

The South Kerry Greenway is a proposed greenway rail trail in County Kerry, Ireland. It is intended to be 27 kilometres (17 miles) long when completed and run from Glenbeigh to Cahersiveen. It is an off-road trail intended for use by cyclists and walkers along some of the route of the Farranfore–Valentia Harbour line, which opened 1893 and closed in 1960. The line was operated by the Great Southern and Western Railway. In July 2021, legal challenges against the greenway planning permissions and associated compulsory purchase orders, as well as environmental impacts, were dismissed. It was announced that leave to appeal applications and further challenges would be assessed in November 2021. On 15 October 2021, it was reported that planning permission to construct the greenway was upheld. By December 2021, Supreme Court proceedings had been initiated. On 8 February 2022, the Supreme Court rejected the applications seeking leave for appeal, and Kerry County Council announced that it could "now proceed with the construction of the greenway". As of May 2023 the greenway was under construction. As of December 2023, Kerry County Council proposed that a "main contractor" for the works would be appointed in mid-2024 and that the greenway could be completed by mid-2026. As of mid-2025, there were no plans to open any section before the end of 2025. Public consultation on the Cahersiveen to Reenard section began in October 2024.

The River Caragh (Irish: Abhainn Chárthaí) is a river in County Kerry in southwestern Ireland. The river has a catchment area of about 66 square miles (170 km2), comes under the protection of a Special Area of Conservation ("Killarney National Park, MacGillycuddy's Reeks and Caragh River Catchment"). The rare Kerry Slug is known to have been identified in the area.

The Kerry Bog Village is an open-air museum situated in west County Kerry focused on the culture and history of Ireland. It is a tourist stop on the Ring of Kerry, between the towns of Killorglin and Glenbeigh. The outdoor museum recreates traditional Irish thatched cottages and the lives of their inhabitants during the 19th century. Its founder was involved in the resuscitation of the Kerry Bog Pony as a viable breed.The village's operators describe the village as the "only one of its kind in Europe", and its structures are furnished with antiques.

Réalt na Mara, Cromane, is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from the fishing village of Cromane, eight miles west of Killorglin in County Kerry, Ireland. Cromane play football in maroon and white colours. The club fields teams from under-8 to senior level. The club's name is derived from the village's church, also called Réalt na Mara (Star of the Sea in English). The local national school also carries the same name. There was a club in Cromane in the mid-1950s. Indeed, in 1954, Pat O'Shea played for the Kerry minors as a Cromane player.

Cromane (Irish: An Cromán) is a village located in County Kerry, Ireland. It is 9 km (6 mi) west of Killorglin town and a similar distance to the village of Glenbeigh when travelling south-west.

Lough Yganavan and Lough Nambrackdarrig (Irish: Loch Gaineamháin agus Loch na mBreac Dearg) are two lakes of ecological importance in County Kerry, Ireland. In 1988, Lough Nambrackdarrig and the southern half of Lough Yganavan were designated as National Nature Reserves (areas in ha: 3.9 & 25.3). Since 1998, the lakes have been included in a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) of 271.6 hectares (3 km2), which protects land in private ownership and the two state-owned nature reserves. The habitats in the SAC include fixed dunes, a type of machair.

Castlemaine Harbour is a Ramsar site, Special Area of Conservation, Special Protection Area and national nature reserve of approximately 2,281 acres (9.23 km2) located in County Kerry, Ireland.

Caragh Lake (Irish: Loch Cárthaí), also Lough Caragh, is a lake in the Reeks District in County Kerry, Ireland. The lake was formed by the damming of the Caragh River.Caragh Lake railway station was on the Great Southern and Western Railway line which ran from Farranfore to Valentia Harbour.

The Coomsaharn char (Salvelinus fimbriatus; the spellings Coomasaharn and charr are also used; Irish: ruabhreac Chom Sathairn) is a species of lacustrine char fish in the family Salmonidae. It is only located in Lough Coomsaharn, County Kerry, Ireland.

Inch (Irish: Inse, meaning 'river meadow') is a small coastal settlement and townland on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland. Inch Strand, in Inch townland, is on a long sand spit and dune system which reaches into Dingle Bay. The R561 regional road passes through the area. Evidence of ancient settlement in the area includes a number of midden, ringfort and ecclesiastical enclosure sites in Inch and Inch East townlands. The graveyard enclosure, in Inch East, contains a ruined single-cell church which dates to at least the 13th century. Inch Strand, also known as Inch Beach, is a spit which is 5 km in length and, together with its dune system, forms part of the Special Area of Conservation at Castlemaine Harbour.

Glencar (Irish: Gleann Chárthaigh) is a populated area in County Kerry, Ireland. The housing in Glencar is geographically distributed and, while it does not have a traditional village centre, the central point for the community is the post office and shop at "The Climbers' Inn". It is located on the Kerry Way walking route, close to Carrauntoohil. The Catholic church, St. Stephen's Church in Glencar, is in Glenbeigh parish within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kerry. The local Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club is Glenbeigh-Glencar GAA. The nearby national (primary) school, at Boheshill in Glencar, had an enrollment of 21 pupils in 2024.
