Sai Wan (constituency)

Shek Tong Tsui or Belcher Point is an area in Sai Wan on Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. Administratively, it belongs to the Central and Western District. This area is bounded north by the Victoria Harbour, south by Pok Fu Lam Road and Third Street, and west by the intersection of Queen's Road West and Belcher's Street. To the east lies Sai Ying Pun and to the west is Kennedy Town. To the south are the slopes of Victoria Peak and High West. While the boundaries are not de jure drawn, they are nevertheless de facto defined by Collinson Street to the west and Whitty Street to the east.

Whitty Street is a street in Shek Tong Tsui, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Named after R.C. Whitty, the first manager of Hong Kong and China Gas Company, the street is well known as one of seven terminals of the Hong Kong Tramways. The road starts from Queen's Road West, crossing Des Voeux Road West and ends in Connaught Road West. In the 1970s, there was a plan for an MTR station (named Whitty station) to be built beneath the street for the residents of Shek Tong Tsui. Space is reserved for the exit of the future station. Nonetheless, the plan has never come to fruition. A new plan suggests that a station would be built near the private housing estate The Belcher's instead of on Whitty Street. These MTR proposals were eventually superseded by the West Island line extension, which opened HKU station just south of Shek Tong Tsui. HKU station's Exit B1 opens directly onto the southern end of Whitty Street.

Hong Kong Tramways (HKT) is a 3 ft 6 in (1,067 mm) narrow-gauge tram system in Hong Kong. Owned and operated by RATP Dev Transdev Asia, the tramway runs on Hong Kong Island between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, with a branch circulating through Happy Valley. Hong Kong's tram system is one of the earliest forms of public transport in the metropolis, having opened in 1904 under British rule. It has used electric trams since its inauguration, and has never used horse or steam power. It owns the world's largest operational double-decker tram fleet, and is a very rare example of a tram system that uses them exclusively. In addition to being used by commuters, the system is popular with tourists, and is one of the most environmentally friendly ways of travelling in the city.

St. Louis School (Chinese: 聖類斯中學), located in Sai Ying Pun (historically West Point, Hong Kong) is a privately run, Catholic primary and (government-subsidized) secondary English grammar school. There are currently about 800 secondary students and 350 primary school students.

St. Stephen's Church College (Chinese: 聖士提反堂中學) is a secondary school attached to the Anglican St Stephen's Church, Hong Kong, located between Bonham Road and Pok Fu Lam Road in Sai Ying Pun. The school's total enrollment in the academic year 2009-2010 was approximately 1,000, in 24 classes of two streams (arts and science), across six forms/grades.

The Westpoint (Chinese: 西港中心) is a skyscraper located in the Sai Ying Pun district of Hong Kong. The tower rises 41 floors and 186 metres (610 ft) in height. The building was completed in 1999. It was designed by architectural firm Ho & Partners Architects, and was constructed by Chun Wo Construction & Engineering. The Westpoint, which stands as the 84th-tallest building in Hong Kong, is composed entirely of office space. The building is architecturally unique due to its ball structure that adorns the roof; the ball is home to a private club.The building was originally meant to serve as the headquarters of the Chinese state-owned corporation China Merchants Group, but was sold to the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the early 2000s. The entire building is occupied by this office and the ground level is heavily fortified and protected by security. The top level houses the director's office, a clubhouse, and a grand ballroom. Other features of the building include a gym, a conference centre, banquet facilities, exhibition space, and a beauty salon with barbers from mainland China.

The Western District Public Cargo Working Area (Chinese: 西區公眾貨物裝卸區), commonly nicknamed the Instagram Pier, is a pier located on the waterfront of Sai Wan, Hong Kong. Originally a container terminal, the cargo dock has become a popular attraction and location for photographers. The Instagram Pier is well known by the public because of its clear view of Victoria Harbour, a major tourist attraction in Hong Kong. From the Instagram Pier, views like that of the Hong Kong skyline, sunsets, old lamp posts, caution barriers, cargo pallets, etc. can be captured.The public cargo working area gained its nickname due to the huge amount of Instagram posts taken in this working area, giving it its informal nickname of the "Instagram Pier". It has subsequently gained a large amount of media coverage.

The Belcher's (Chinese: 寶翠園; Jyutping: bou2 ceoi3 jyun4) is a private residential estate in Shek Tong Tsui, Hong Kong Island. It consists of six residential buildings constructed in two phases; three buildings were constructed in each phase. Construction for the first phase was completed in 2000, and in 2001 for the second phase. The estate was named after the adjacent Belcher's Street, which in turned was named after Sir Edward Belcher, a Canadian-born British naval officer and explorer. The Belcher's is connected to the Westwood mall.

HKU (Chinese: 香港大學) is a station on the Hong Kong MTR Island line located in the Lung Fu Shan and Shek Tong Tsui neighbourhoods of the Western District, Hong Kong. It is named after The University of Hong Kong, which is also served by the station. Part of the West Island line, a westward extension to the existing Island line, HKU station opened on 28 December 2014 along with Kennedy Town station. As of its opening, HKU station is the largest and deepest station in the MTR network, at 70 metres (230 ft) below ground.

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is an English-language public research university in Hong Kong. Founded in 1911, its origins trace back to the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese, which was founded in 1887. It is the oldest tertiary institution in Hong Kong. HKU was also the first university established by the British in East Asia. As of October 2021, HKU ranks 22nd internationally and third in Asia by QS, and 30th internationally and fourth in Asia by Times Higher Education. It has been ranked as the most international university in the world as well as one of the most prestigious universities in Asia. Today, HKU has ten academic faculties with English as the main language of instruction. The University of Hong Kong was also the first team in the world to successfully isolate the coronavirus SARS-CoV, the causative agent of SARS.

West Point (Chinese: 西點，或稱西角) was a point of land on Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Its location is the shore off Pok Fu Lam Road and Queen's Road West in 1845, approximately the junction of Western Street and Des Voeux Road West near Western Police Station. This was the northernmost point on the western half of Hong Kong Island. The Hong Kong Government divided Victoria City into four wan (環), or districts. While West Point falls into Sai Wan, or Western District, major government structures like the police station and court (Western Magistracy) are located near West Point. Thus the name of Sai Wan, Western District, Western and West Point were sometimes used interchangeably. St. Stephen's Anglican Church located in West Point was founded by the Church Missionary Society (Church Mission Society) (CMS) in 1865. It was led by Vicar Tsing-Shan Fok 霍靜山 (1851-1918), one of the earliest Chinese clergymen in Hong Kong, beginning in 1904.

St. Paul's College (SPC; Chinese: 聖保羅書院) is an Anglican day school for boys and girls in Hong Kong. It was established in 1851, the oldest continuously-operated school in Hong Kong. The college first opened in 1851 with only one tutor and nine pupils. Today, it has more than 1,200 pupils in the secondary section and nearly 600 pupils in the primary section.St. Paul's comprises an all-boys primary school section (Primary 1–6) and secondary section (Forms 1–6). The secondary school campus is situated in the Mid-Levels area, part of Hong Kong Island's Western District, whilst the primary school operates in a dedicated campus at Pok Fu Lam in the Island's Southern District. The College Council enjoys a special status in Hong Kong, in that it is a statutory body incorporated by a local ordinance, the St. Paul's College Council Incorporation Ordinance (Cap 1102, Laws of Hong Kong). The aim of the college is to "provide a liberal education to Chinese youths in the English language upon Christian principles."
