Bootle

Bootle is a constituency which has been represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Peter Dowd of the Labour Party.

Hugh Baird College is a college and University Centre situated in Merseyside, England. It is one of the largest providers of education and training in the area, delivering over 300 courses to more than 5,000 students. The college offers courses from entry Level to Level 3, T-levels, A-levels, apprenticeships and university-level courses, foundation degrees and degrees. On 1 December 2017, following Sefton Council approval and support, South Sefton College in Litherland became part of Hugh Baird College. South Sefton College was renamed as Hugh Baird College's South Sefton Campus and it is home to the college's dedicated Sixth Form Centre and houses its A-level provision.

The Bootle War Memorial is in Bootle South Recreation Ground, Bootle, Sefton, Merseyside, England. It was paid for partly by a grant from the local council, and partly by public subscription. The sculptor was Herman Cawthra, with assistance in the design from Hubert Ernest Bulmer, the borough's art director. The monument consists of a mother and child on top of an obelisk, which is surrounded by the figures of three servicemen. It was unveiled in 1922, and the names of those killed in the Second World War were added in 1948. The memorial was recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building in 1986, and upgraded to Grade II* in 2018.

The Statue of Edward VII stands in Stanley Park, Bootle, Sefton, Merseyside, England. It was erected to commemorate the Coronation of King Edward VII and consists of a bronze statue of Edward VII on a granite pedestal. The sculptor was George Wade. The statue was given to the borough by the local Member of Parliament, and stands on land given to the borough by Lord Derby. It was unveiled by Lady Derby in 1904.

Hawthorne Road was a cricket and football ground in Bootle in England. It was the home ground of Bootle F.C. between 1884 and 1893.

Bootle Town Hall is a municipal building in Oriel Road in Bootle, Merseyside, England. The building, which is the headquarters of Sefton Council, is a Grade II listed building.

Balliol Road railway station was on the Alexandra Dock Branch, Bootle, Merseyside, England, it opened on 5 September 1881 and closed to passengers on 31 May 1948. Goods trains to and from Seaforth Dock still pass through the station site.

Miller's Bridge railway station was a station in Bootle, Lancashire, England. The station was opened prior to 1851 on the southern side of Balliol Road and closed around 1876.

Bootle Oriel Road railway station is a railway station in Bootle, Merseyside, England. It is situated near the town's Victorian civic centre, opposite Bootle Town Hall, although the surrounding area is now largely residential. It is located on the Northern Line of the Merseyrail network.

Bootle Village railway station was a station in Bootle, Lancashire, England. The station opened in 1850 on the southern side of Merton Road and closed in 1876.

The New Strand Shopping Centre, known locally simply as The Strand, is the main shopping centre in Bootle, Merseyside, England. Opened in 1968, it was part of a larger Bootle redevelopment during this period, which was also complemented by the establishment of the Girobank headquarters in nearby Netherton. The site occupied by the shopping centre was formally victorian houses, in streets that were named after American states. The decision on naming the shopping centre was done so via a public competition, with an 11-year-old school girl submitting the winning entry of "New Strand" in 1965. The Strand opened at a cost of £5 million in 1968, in the centenary year of Bootle receiving its municipal charter. The centre was extended between 1997 and 1998 and completed in November the same year to provide additional retail outlets, as well as additional car-parking facilities and improved transportation to the centre. The Strand centre is widely known for the 1993 abduction of toddler James Bulger, who was taken by two ten-year-old boys and later murdered. In October 2014, it was announced that London-based Ellandi had purchased the shopping centre, yet it was sold to Sefton Council just two and a half years later.

Bank Hall railway station is a railway station in Kirkdale, Liverpool, England, located to the north of the city centre, on the Northern Line of the Merseyrail network. As the area around the station is made up of largely closed industrial buildings, the station is one of the quietest on the Northern Line.
