Skien/Porsgrunn is a Norwegian urban area located in Grenland in southern Telemark. The urban area covers parts of three municipalities: Skien, Porsgrunn and Bamble. The population is 85.408. Contrary to local beliefs in Porsgrunn, the area is more commonly referred to as Skien/Porsgrunn, rather than Porsgrunn/Skien.

The Grenland Terminal (Norwegian: Grenlandsterminalen), also known as the Brevik Terminal (Norwegian: Brevikterminalen), is a combined rail freight terminal and port located at Heistad just north of Brevik in Porsgrunn, Norway. Owned by Grenland Harbour, it is connected to the national railway network by a spur of the Brevik Line, which was connected in 1993.

Eidangerfjord or Eidangerfjorden is a fjord in Porsgrunn Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The 6-kilometre (3.7 mi) long fjord stretches from the village area of Eidanger south to the Langesundsfjord. The mouth of the Eidangerfjord is located between the town of Brevik and the island of Sandøya. The largest island located in the fjord is Kattøya, located near the head of Eidangerfjord.The shipping harbor for the cement produced by Norcem is located on the Eidangerfjorden at Brevik. Further in, on the west shore, lies the village of Heistad. The towns of Stathelle and Brevik are situated at the junction of the Langesundsfjord, Frierfjorden, and Eidangerfjord.

Brevik (Norwegian pronunciation: [ˈbrêːviːk] ) is a town in Porsgrunn Municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. The town is located where the Eidangerfjorden and Frierfjorden join together to form the Breviksfjorden. Brevik is regarded as one of the best preserved towns from the sailing ship era. The town is located on the far end of Eidanger peninsula (Eidangerhalvøya), and was a former export centre for ice and timber. The last shipment of wood to the United Kingdom was around 1960.Brevik is located about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the south of the town of Porsgrunn in a very large urban area. Brevik has an estimated population of 2,100 in the year 2020. It is considered part of the Porsgrunn/Skien metropolitan area by Statistics Norway, so Brevik's population is not tracked separately.Brevik has significant industry, including cement production (Norcem, formerly Dalen Portland Cementfabrik, which is Norway's largest cement factory), workshop industry, food industry (among others Diplom-ice), and mining (Kjørholt limestone mine, which is Norway's largest mine). The town is located on the mainland and also on the small island of Sylterøya. There is a bridge over the strait between Sylterøya and the mainland. The town hall, which is an old farm estate, and Brevik Church are located on Sylterøya. Brevik has narrow and crooked streets with interesting, irregular buildings.

Brevik Station (Norwegian: Brevik stasjon) is a former railway station located at Strømtangen in the village of Brevik in Porsgrunn, Norway. It served as the terminus of the Brevik Line from 16 October 1895 to the station closed on 1 December 1982. The station building is designed by Paul Due in Romanesque style, is preserved and has been listed as a cultural heritage site. There was a major political discussion if the station should be located at Strømtangen or Setretangen. Construction commenced in 1893 and opened on 15 October 1895. The station initially saw heavy intercity traffic as it served the coastal ferries onwards to Agder until 1927. The main traffic was however a commuter train service to Porsgrunn and Skien, which operated until 1 February 1964. All passenger transport ceased on 26 May 1968. The station building was renovated in the late 1980s and is now used for office space.

Brevik Church (Norwegian: Brevik kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Porsgrunn Municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Brevik. It is one of the churches for the Eidanger parish which is part of the Skien prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The grey, concrete church was built in a rectangular design in 1963 using plans drawn up by the architect Gudolf Blakstad. The church seats about 450 people.

Nystrand Station (Norwegian: Nystrand stasjon) is a disused railway station located at Eidanger in Porsgrunn, Norway, on the Brevik Line. Designed by Paul Due, it was located 195.35 kilometers (121.38 mi) from Oslo. The station opened on 15 July 1895, three months before the rest of the line. Nystrand was largely used for recreational visits to Eidangerfjorden from townspeople in Porsgrunn and Skien. The station was served by a commuter train service until 1964, and has not seen regular calls by trains since 1968. It was formally closed on 31 May 1970. The station building has been preserved at Porsgrunn Town Museum.

The town of Brevik lies about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) across the fjord and the town of Langesund lies about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) to the southeast. Stathelle Church is located in the town.For a long time, Stathelle and neighboring Langesund have been grouped together as part of the Porsgrunn/Skien metropolitan area and because of this, the population and area data for this town has not been separately tracked by Statistics Norway. What is tracked, is the portion of the metropolitan area located in Bamble Municipality. In 2022, the Langesund/Stathelle area in Bamble measured 6.34 square kilometres (1,570 acres) and together they had a population of 10,276 with a population density of 1,622 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,200/sq mi).

Stathelle Church (Norwegian: Stathelle kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bamble Municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the town of Stathelle. It is the church for the Stathelle parish which is part of the Bamble prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white and gray, brick church was built in a rectangular design in 1964 using plans drawn up by the architect Bjørn Ljungberg. The church seats about 260 people.

Stridsklev Church (Norwegian: Stridsklev kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Porsgrunn Municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the town of Porsgrunn. It is one of the churches for the Eidanger parish which is part of the Skien prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white and gray, wooden church was built in a rectangular design in 2000 using plans drawn up by the architect Kåre Kverndokk. The church seats about 250 people.

Eidanger is a former municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The 136-square-kilometre (53 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. The area is now part of Porsgrunn Municipality. The administrative centre was the village of Eidanger where Eidanger Church is located.The municipality of Eidanger included a peninsula between the Eidangerfjorden and the Frierfjorden. Situated between the urban municipalities (towns) of Brevik and Porsgrunn. It also included the more rural areas to the north and east of the Eidangerfjorden. The municipality had excellent natural conditions for building harbours, it became the site of Norsk Hydro's plant at Herøya and the Dalen Portland (now part of the Norcem corporation) concrete factory just outside Brevik. More recently, a major industry in the area is Heistad Fabrikker, which makes products for diabetics. Isola maintains its head office and administration office in Eidanger. Isola has two factories in this area where bitumen-based products and steel roofing tiles are manufactured.Eidanger Church (Eidanger kirke) is located in the village of Eidanger and was the main church for the municipality. The church was originally a relatively simple stone church in the Romanesque style, probably built ca. 1150. The church was extended in 1787 and received a new sacristy in 1981. The altarpiece, stained glass and the pulpit is from 1991 and made by Terje Grøstad. The baptismal font is of stone and is from the 1890s. The church has two bells, one from 1720 and one from 1940.
