Færvik

Færvik Church (Norwegian: Færvik kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Arendal Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the village of Færvik on the island of Tromøy. It is one of the churches for the Tromøy parish which is part of the Arendal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden, neo-gothic church was built in a long church design in 1884 using plans drawn up by the architect Johan Christoff Friedrich Reuter. The church seats about 490 people.

The Tromøy Bridge (Norwegian: Tromøybrua) is a suspension bridge that crosses the Tromøysundet strait in the municipality of Arendal in Agder county, Norway. It connects the island of Tromøya with the mainland, about 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) northeast of the town of Arendal. The bridge is part of Norwegian County Road 409 and it opened on 21 October 1961 by Trygve Bratteli, the Minister of Transport and Communications. The bridge originally cost 7 million kr. The 400-metre (1,300 ft) long bridge has 12 spans, the longest of which is 240 metres (790 ft). The bridge has a 37 metres (121 ft) high clearance underneath it so ships may pass under it. In 2008, the annual average daily traffic was 8,350 cars per day. Its building was prepared by a special committee which was chaired by Christian Stray during its entire existence from 1938 to 1961.

Revesand is a village in Arendal municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located at the southern coast of the island of Tromøy, about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) north of the island outport of Merdø.

Brattekleiv is a village in Arendal municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the Galtesundet strait on the southwestern shore of the island of Tromøy. The village lies about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) southwest of the town of Arendal which is located across the strait. The smaller industrial village of Pusnes lies immediately north of Brattekleiv, the small village of Revesand lies just south of the village, and the village of Færvik lies a short distance to the east.

Hove Farm (Norwegian: Hove gård) is an original undivided farm (matrikkelgård) on the southwest part of the island of Tromøy in the municipality of Arendal in Aust-Agder county, Norway. The farm is located on a headland, with the sea behind it to the southeast and facing Hove Bay (Hovekilen) to the northwest. Hove Bay is a protected marine area, accessible only to small vessels. The islands of Merdø and Gjesøya lies closest to Hove. Until 1942, Hove Farm had a single registration number and a single owner. The farm was purchased by the state in 1942, and was then used by the German occupation forces during the Second World War. Today the farm belongs to the municipality of Arendal.: 64 The farmhouse dates from 1725 and was built after the original structure at the site burned. Below the farm there were one or two cotter's farms in the past, when a tannery operated at the farm in the early 1800s.: 67–68 

Pusnes is a village in Arendal municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located on the southwestern edge of the island of Tromøy, just across the strait from the town of Arendal. There is a ferry that regularly crosses the strait from Pusnes to Arendal. Pusnes is primarily an industrial area.

The Hove Festival (Norwegian: Hovefestivalen) was a music festival held on the island Tromøya outside of Arendal in southern Norway. It was held for the first time from 26 to 30 June 2007. Running for eight years and at one time the largest music festival in Norway, Hove Festival was discontinued after its 2014 show due to negative profits. Hove Festival was acquired by Festival Republic in 2008 after going bankrupt. As with other Festival Republic events, there were no age restrictions, and children under the age of 12 were admitted free of charge.Hove strove to be an environmentally neutral festival, both buying carbon offset quotes for all power and transportation used during and prior to the festival, and sorting and recycling all trash produced by the event. Preparation for the festival relied heavily on volunteer work. In 2010 there were a total of 2,500 people volunteering for security, stage hand, drivers, kitchen duty and post-festival cleanup. Hove consisted of several different areas such as the camp area, festival area and "zero" area. The camp held up to 10,000 campers and was open throughout the festival. The festival area, including the shopping street, was open to everyone who had a day bracelet or festival bracelet. The zero area, which has several fast-food shops, was open to everyone with or without bracelet. The festival had three main performance stages: Hovescenen, Amfiscenen and Teltscenen (tent stage), with Hovescenen being the largest. One of the more prominent acts at Hovescenen was Muse in 2010.

Merdø is an island in Arendal municipality in Agder county, Norway. The 0.3-square-kilometre (74-acre) island lies along the Skagerrak coast, near the entrance to the Galtesundet, the main shipping channel leading to the town of Arendal on the mainland. The islands of Tromøy and Hisøya lie to the north and northwest. The small islands of Ærøya and Havsøya lie to the southwest. A part of the island is included in Raet National Park.

The Houen Margarete Foundation (Norwegian: Den Houenske Margarete stiftelse), often simply referred to as the Margarete Foundation (Norwegian: Margarethestiftelsen), is a Norwegian foundation. It was created by a gift of money from Anton Christian Houen to the municipality of Arendal in 1891. The foundation was named after Houen's mother and its purpose was to build an old-age home and a park facility. The monetary gift was NOK 200,000. Houen gave detailed instructions for the house and park design, house rules, and statutes. The statutes were approved by the Arendal executive council in September 1891.The home was intended for honorable old men and women (hæderlige gamle Mænd og Kvinder) at least sixty years old who could no longer earn a sufficient livelihood and who had no close relatives to take care of them. It was to be built in beautifully rural setting that was completely healthy and openly situated. The institution was to be a source of pride for Arendal.The foundation looked for a suitable place in the Arendal area and chose a property Åsen in Barbu, a location with attractive views toward Galte Sound (Galtesund), Arendal's shipping lane. The area was expanded with several purchased parcels, and the result was a park between the streets Gamle Songevei and Kystveien. An attractive park was created there in the early 1900s, with ponds, sculptures, lawns, flowerbeds, and a playground. The park became an attraction for the city's inhabitants. Concerts and other events were held, and the park was widely visited. However, the foundation's capital was not sufficient to build the Margarete Foundation's residence, which was not realized until 1955 with municipal grants. The original park is much smaller today. Some of it disappeared due to building and expanding the old age home, and some of it has become parking space, and a private outdoor area and building site for the ABBL/Kuviga Housing Cooperative. The foundation's statutes state that the property must be protected against future buildings disturbing its rural character. The foundation's archive is located at the Aust-Agder cultural-historical center.

Barbu is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. Today, it is part of the is part of the town of Arendal in Agder county. The 15.3-square-kilometre (5.9 sq mi) municipality existed from 1878 until 1902 when it was merged into the town of Arendal. The municipality was located just to the north of what was then the 0.34-square-kilometre (84-acre) town of Arendal. The administrative centre of the small, urban municipality was called Barbu as well. Barbu Church was the church for the municipality.Today, the name Barbu refers to the village-like place located in head of the Galtesundet strait within the town of Arendal. Barbu is also a parish (sogn) in the Arendal prosti (deanery) within the Diocese of Agder og Telemark.

Saltrød is a village in Arendal municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the Norwegian County Road 410, about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northeast of the town of Arendal and about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) southwest of the village of Eydehavn. The village lies along the Tromøysundet strait, looking across the water towards the island of Tromøy. Stokken Church is located in Saltrød.

Barbu Church (Norwegian: Barbu kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Arendal Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the Barbu area of the town of Arendal. It is the church for the Barbu parish which is part of the Arendal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The brown, brick church was built in a long church design in 1880 using plans drawn up by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 500 people.
