Caraway Speedway

The Caraway Mountains are a mountain range located in western Randolph County and a section of eastern Davidson County, North Carolina. The mountains are located between the cities of Asheboro and Lexington and are bisected by US Highway 64. The mountains are known for their rugged and steep terrain and rise to over 1,000 feet (300 m). Typically the Caraways are said to be a part of the Uwharrie Mountains and make up the northern extent of this range. They extend from roughly south of High Point and transition into the Uwharries, stretching roughly 30 miles (48 km). The range is only about 10 miles (16 km) wide. The range takes its name from Caraway Creek, which was named after a Native American tribe that lived in the area before European settlement. The area was once a highly used Indian trading area and many early settlers noted that the Indian trading paths tended to "disappear" into the mountains. Prominent peaks in the area are Caraway Mountain, Back Creek Mountain, Daves Mountain, Ridges Mountain, and Mount Shepherd, the latter at 1,150 feet (350 m) being the highest point in Randolph County. Its foothills are in Chatham County.

McCrary Park is a baseball venue in Asheboro, North Carolina, United States. It is home to the Asheboro ZooKeepers of the Coastal Plain League, a collegiate summer baseball league. The park opened in 1946 and has a capacity of 1,400 fans. In addition to the ZooKeepers, the field is the home stadium of American Legion Post 45 and Asheboro High School baseball. The park's dimensions are 323 ft. down the left field line, 400 ft. to dead center field, and 335 ft. down the right field line.

Asheboro is a city in and the county seat of Randolph County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 27,156 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Greensboro–High Point Metropolitan Area of the Piedmont Triad and is home of the state-owned North Carolina Zoo.

Erect, North Carolina is an unincorporated community in Randolph County, North Carolina, United States, and part of the Piedmont Triad metropolitan region. Erect is located on NC 42, seven miles east of the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, and two miles west of Coleridge. Erect was founded in the 18th century by German and English settlers, along with the nearby communities of Steeds, Sophia, Whynot, Hemp, and Lonely. Many of these settlers were known for their pottery-making skills. A post office called Erect was established in 1883, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1935. In 1889, Erect had a population of 39 inhabitants.The 15-square mile (30 km2) region surrounding the town of Seagrove, twelve miles to the southeast, is known as the "Pottery Capital of North Carolina." Erect is located in the vicinity of the "North Carolina Pottery Highway", a collection of approximately 100 potteries and galleries along NC 705 in Randolph and Moore counties.Goss Lake, Goss Lake Dam, and the Lambert Mill Dam are located in the Erect quad.

WKXR (1260 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic country music format. Licensed to Asheboro, North Carolina, United States, the station is owned by Dorothy Grace Keith, through licensee South Triad Broadcasting Corp., and features programming from AP Radio and Jones Radio Network. The station was established in 1947 as WGWR, and is simulcast on translator station W235CO (94.9 FM).

Acme-McCrary Hosiery Mills, also known as Acme Hosiery Mills, McCrary Hosiery Mills, and Asheboro Grocery Company, is a historic textile mill complex located at Asheboro, Randolph County, North Carolina. The complex includes six buildings and a smokestack, erected between 1909 and 1962. The mill buildings were designed by architect Richard C. Biberstein and the oldest section is a two-story, heavy-timber-frame mill with load bearing brick walls. The Acme-McCrary-Sapona Recreation Center was built in 1948–1949, and is a two-story, Art Moderne style brick recreation center. The buildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.The buildings were owned by Acme Hosiery Mills, which was purchased by brothers-in-law D.B. McCrary and T.H. Redding in 1909. Acme-McCrary went on to become the third-largest producer of private label hosiery in the world, with factories in three locations. Its production assets were purchased by Sri Lanka–based MAS Capital in 2017, but Acme-McCrary retained the historic buildings in Asheboro, which by that point only housed its corporate offices. Acme-McCrary planned to vacate the buildings following the acquisition, opening up almost 200,000 square feet of downtown real estate for commercial or residential use.

Sunset Theater is a historic movie theater located at Asheboro, Randolph County, North Carolina. It was designed by the architectural firm of Benton & Benton and built in 1929. It is a two-story, parapet roof load-bearing stuccoed brick building in the Spanish Colonial Revival style. It measures approximately 50 feet by 100 feet and has a large open auditorium seating 412. The theater was purchased by the City of Asheboro in 2005.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Asheboro Hosiery Mills and Cranford Furniture Company Complex, also known as Cranford Industries and National Chair Company, is a historic textile mill and furniture factory complex located at Asheboro, Randolph County, North Carolina. The complex includes three brick industrial buildings erected from 1917 through the 1940s and the Cranford Industries Office, constructed in 1925. Also on the property are the contributing Cranford Industries Smokestack built in the 1950s and a lumber shed erected in the late-1950s.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

The Randolph County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located at Asheboro, Randolph County, North Carolina. It was designed by Wheeler, Runge & Dickey and built in 1908–1909. It is a three-story, Classical Revival style yellow brick building with a hipped roof. It features a powerful Second Empire dome clad in ribbed tile and front portico. The listing included three contributing buildings on 3.1 acres (1.3 ha). The two other contributing buildings are an early-20th century jail and late Victorian brick building containing law offices.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
