Nostrand Avenue station (LIRR)

Kismet Temple, also known as the Kismet Mosque and Friendship Baptist Church, is a historic meeting hall located in the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. It was built in 1909–1910 as the "Kismet Temple" of the Ancient Arabic Order of the Mystic Shrine, commonly referred to as "Shriners". It was designed by R. Thomas Short in the Eclectic Moorish Revival style. Its front facade is constructed of yellow brick and limestone-like glazed terra cotta trim with elaborate Moorish decoration. The building was sold to Friendship Baptist Church in 1966. It is thought to be the oldest Shriners mosque still intact.: 3, 6, 10 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Nostrand Avenue was a station on the demolished BMT Fulton Street Line. It was originally built on April 24, 1888 and had 2 tracks and 2 side platforms. It was served by trains of the BMT Fulton Street Line, and served as the eastern terminus of the line for a month and a week. Nostrand Avenue station had connections to at least four streetcar lines; The Nostrand Avenue Trolley, the Lorimer Street Line, the Marcy Avenue Line, and the Ocean Avenue Line trolleys. Under the Dual Contracts, the station was the west end of a project to expand the line from two to three tacks. On April 9, 1936, the Independent Subway System built the Nostrand Avenue Subway Station along the IND Fulton Street Line. The el station became obsolete, and it closed on May 31, 1940.

The Nostrand Avenue station is a two-level express station on the IND Fulton Street Line of the New York City Subway, located at the intersection of Nostrand Avenue and Fulton Street in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. It is served by the A train at all times and the C train at all times except late nights. The station was planned as part of the construction of the Independent Subway System (IND)'s Fulton Street Line. Construction of the station began around 1929, and it was opened to service on April 9, 1936. Several of the station's entrances were closed in the late 20th century due to crime. In the 2010s and 2020s, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced plans to make the station ADA-accessible and to reopen closed exits. Nostrand Avenue has four tracks and four side platforms, with two platform levels. Express trains stop on the upper level while local trains stop on the lower level. This is because, in the original design for the station, the Nostrand Avenue station was slated to be a local station with only two platforms, and the current upper level was intended to be a mezzanine. The primary entrances to the local and express platforms in each direction are at Nostrand Avenue and Fulton Street. Another set of entrances from both sets of platforms leads to Bedford Avenue and Fulton Street.

A&A Bake & Doubles and Roti Shop is a Caribbean restaurant owned by Trinidadian immigrants Noel and Geeta Brown, located on Fulton Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York. It is known for its doubles (curried chickpea sandwiches on fried flatbread), bake, roti, and other dishes. It was originally located on Nostrand Avenue at Macon Street, and moved to Fulton Street due to a dramatic increase in business, which has been in part attributed to the effects of gentrification in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The Alhambra Apartments is an architecturally notable apartment building located on Nostrand Avenue in the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. The building was designed by Montrose Morris and built by developer Louis F. Seitz in 1889–90. It is an early example in the United States of a multiple-family building designed with large apartments for affluent tenants. The building, which features six towers and loggias, gables, arcades and elaborate terracotta decorations is across Nostrand Avenue from the architecturally notable Girls High School.The Alhambra was landmarked by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1986.

The Brooklyn Ice Palace in Brooklyn, NY was an indoor ice rink. The venue was used for multiple events over the years but it primarily functioned as a home for figure skating and ice hockey.

Girls High School is a historically and architecturally notable public secondary school building located at 475 Nostrand Avenue in the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. It was built in 1886.

The Imperial Apartments is a Renaissance style residential building at 1198 Pacific Street in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City. They were designed by architect Montrose Morris for the developer Louis F. Seitz in 1892. At the time of construction, single-family row houses were typical for the middle-class families. Changing attitudes in the late 19th century made it socially acceptable for families to live in the apartment house. Morris designed the Imperial to speak to these changing attitudes and introduced a high-quality of design and materials such as yellow and buff brick and terra cotta to the building seamlessly blending it in with the surrounding neighborhood of Grant Square.In the 1970s, New York City took possession of the building due to unpaid taxes. In 1986, it was designated as a landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. A $6.3 million gut renovation occurred in the 1990s. It is also a contributing property to the Crown Heights North Historic District.

St. Bartholomew's Protestant Episcopal Church and Rectory is a historic Episcopal church and rectory located at 1227 Pacific St., east of Bedford Avenue in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York, New York. It was built in 1886 in the Romanesque Revival style. It is constructed of brick with stone trim and topped by a slate roof. It features a squat, battered stone tower crowned by an ogival, tiled roof. The two story brick and stone rectory features twin gables and ogival tower.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Cultural Museum of African Art, also known as CMAAEEC and the Museum of African Culture Art and History, is a museum dedicated to African art and cultural heritage located in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. The museum houses one of the largest private collections of African art in the United States, comprising over 3,000 artifacts representing all 54 African countries and spanning approximately 4,000 years of history. It is one of only three museums in the United States exclusively dedicated to African art, alongside the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington, D.C., and The Africa Center in Manhattan, New York.

Renaissance Apartments is a historic apartment building located at Hancock Street and Nostrand Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York City. It was built in 1892 and is a five-story masonry building in the French Renaissance style. It features elaborately decorated principal facades and prominent circular corner towers with slate covered conical roofs. It has steeply sloped slate mansard roofs with terra cotta ridge caps and gabled roof dormers.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

New Brooklyn Theatre is a theatre company based in Brooklyn, NY that specializes in producing socially relevant work in New York City and internationally. It was founded in 2012 by Artistic Director Jonathan Solari, Jeff Strabone, and Sarah Wolff. The New York Times has called it "a flash point for the fusion of theatre and politics." It is now under the artistic leadership of Raja Feather Kelly.
