Carreg Cennan

Carreg Cennen Castle (Welsh: Castell Carreg Cennen) is a castle sited on a high rocky outcrop overlooking the River Cennen, close to the village of Trap, four miles south east of Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Castell Carreg Cennen means castle on a rock next to (the river) Cennen, the river name itself being a reference either to cen meaning lichen or perhaps a personal name.The dramatic limestone precipice was originally the site of a native Welsh castle, possibly constructed by The Lord Rhys (d. 1197), although any remains of this castle have been subsumed by later English work. In 1277, during the conquest of Wales by Edward I, the English gained control of the castle. It was briefly retaken by Welsh forces in 1282, but was back under English control by the following year, when it was granted to the English baron John Giffard (d. 1299). The castle was unsuccessfully besieged by Owain Glyndŵr during the Welsh Revolt. During the Wars of the Roses it was surrendered to the Yorkists and slighted in 1462 to prevent further use. The castle visible today was probably constructed by John Giffard and his son John (d. 1322). It is situated within the Brecon Beacons National Park and is now in the care of Cadw, the Welsh Government historic environment service.

Llygad Llwchwr is a 1.2 km-long cave system in the Black Mountain which forms the westernmost range of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. The entrance to the cave system is 400m from the road alongside a public footpath, and just above and to the left of an obvious river resurgence. The cave contains a dry high level series and an active river level which is accessible at a number of river chambers separated by sumps. Beyond the fourth river chamber exploration is only possible by cave diving. The rest of the cave is suitable for novice cavers.

Cae Cilmaenllwyd is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Trap (or Trapp) is a hamlet in the county of Carmarthenshire in southwest Wales, located on the western border of the Brecon Beacons National Park, around four miles southeast of the town of Llandeilo. It is unclear whether the name – which often appears as Trapp on maps, although the spelling with a single p is generally preferred locally – refers to a fish-trap, a water-trap (mill-leat), or, given that the village is in Cwm Lladron ("robbers' valley"), an ambush point.The Afon Cennen flows through the village and is bridged there by the road from Ffairfach to Drefach. One mile to the east, and visible from the village, are the remains of Carreg Cennen Castle, whilst to the south is the rocky Carreg Dwfn, the westernmost hill of the national park. The remains of Capel Dewi, a medieval chapel, are situated to the east of the road south of the village.

Carreg Dwfn (also referred to as Careg Dwfn and Carregydwfn and referred to also as Careg-y-dwfan ) is a hill four miles southeast of Llandeilo and just to the south of the village of Trap in the county of Carmarthenshire, south Wales. It lies at the western extremity of the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr Geopark. Its summit at 283 metres (928 ft) is towards the eastern end of a rocky east-west-aligned ridge.

Llandeilo is the name of an electoral ward for Carmarthenshire County Council, which includes the communities of Llandeilo and Dyffryn Cennen, in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is represented by one county councillor.

Tair Carn Uchaf (Welsh for 'Upper Three Cairns') is a hill in the Brecon Beacons National Park (Welsh: Parc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog) in the county of Carmarthenshire, Wales. Its summit sits atop a plateau-like ridge at 482 metres (1,580 ft) above sea level and is marked by one of the three huge cairns which give the mountain its name. The main ridge leads southwest towards the subsidiary top of Tair Carn Isaf ("Lower Three Cairns", 51.8344°N 3.9113°W / 51.8344; -3.9113 (Tair Carn Isaf)), which hosts further cairns. The summit of this top lies at 460 metres (1,510 ft), whilst a trig point just to its southwest lies at a height of 459 metres (1505'). To the south of the main ridge lies the subsidiary peak of Drysgol which reaches a height of 393 metres (1,290 ft).

Caeau Pant-y-Bryn is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Coed Llandyfan is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in Carmarthen & Dinefwr, Wales. It is an ancient semi-natural broadleaved wood near the small village of Llandyfan, and is 6.7 hectares (17 acres) in extent.

Amman Valley Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Dyffryn Aman) is a community hospital in Ammanford, Wales. It is managed by the Hywel Dda University Health Board.

Tregyb Woodlands (Welsh: Coedydd Tregyb) is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in Carmarthen & Dinefwr, Wales. Designated as a SSSI since 1980 as a conservation effort to protect and conserve the site, its area is 27 hectares.The woodland lies around 1 mile (1.6 km) to the west of the town of Llandeilo, and are within the Brecon Beacons National Park. Three woods make up the SSSI; Cae'r Coed, Big Grove and Warren Tregyb. The SSSI was first notified on 1 January 1980, under the powers of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949. Following the passing of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, the site was renotified on 23 March 1983 to bring it under the provisions of the new Act.The woodlands are managed by the Woodland Trust, who also manage adjacent woodland outside of the designated SSSI area, creating a total wood 42 hectares in area.
