Santa's Village (Jefferson, New Hampshire)

Jefferson is a town in Coos County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 1,043 at the 2020 census. It is home to parts of the White Mountain National Forest in the south and northeast and to Santa's Village, a Christmas-themed amusement park. There are also several private campgrounds, motels and inns. Jefferson is part of the Berlin, New Hampshire–Vermont Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The Waumbek Cottages Historic District encompasses a collection of high-quality summer resort houses in Jefferson, New Hampshire. Located on Cottage Road and Starr King Road, these six "cottages" are all that survive of a large late-19th century resort complex that once included a hotel and eleven cottages. All are fine examples of Shingle style architecture, with Queen Anne style touches. The district was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2006, and the six cottages were individually listed in the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Mount Washington Regional Airport (IATA: HIE, ICAO: KHIE, FAA LID: HIE) is a public airport located 3 miles (5 km) east of downtown Whitefield in Coos County, New Hampshire, USA. The Civil Air Patrol maintains a composite squadron at this location. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a local general aviation facility.The airport has a single, newly re-paved runway that is 4,001 feet (1,220 m) long, 75 feet (23 m) wide, at an average altitude of 1,074 feet (327 m) MSL, beneath the Yankee One Military Operations Area (MOA). It features pilot-controlled lighting. Traffic pattern altitude is 2,000 feet (610 m) MSL, and pilots must make right traffic for runway 28 unless winds require use of Runway 10 during landing. Scheduled runway improvements have been completed and accepted which include re-alignment and resurfacing of a lengthened runway from 3,495 to 4,100 feet (1,065 to 1,250 m). Local attractions include: Mountain View Grand Hotel 2 miles (3.2 km), Mount Washington Hotel 15 miles (24 km) (including Bretton Woods Mountain Resort), Mount Washington Cog Railway, Santa's Village (9 miles (14 km)) and Six Gun City (8 miles (13 km)) theme parks (Jefferson). Other local towns include Franconia (and its Cannon Mountain Ski Area) (18 miles (29 km)), Littleton (14 miles (23 km)), Bethlehem (11 miles (18 km)) and Lancaster (10 miles (16 km)), where the Coos County Fair is held each summer. A regional view can be enjoyed from the lookout tower at historic Weeks State Park, located on Mount Prospect in Lancaster.

The Weeks Estate is a historic country estate on U.S. Route 3 in Lancaster, New Hampshire. Built in 1912 for John Wingate Weeks, atop Prospect Mountain overlooking the Connecticut River, it is one of the state's best preserved early 20th-century country estates. It was given to the state by Weeks' children, and is now Weeks State Park. It features hiking trails, expansive views of the countryside from the stone observation tower, and a small museum in the main estate house. A small portion of property at the mountain summit was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, while the park as a whole was listed in 2023.

Owl's Head, or Owlshead, is a 3,258-foot (993 m) peak of Cherry Mountain, in Carroll, New Hampshire, United States, and (at least since 2001) the White Mountain National Forest (WMNF). The lower reaches of the mountain also extend northward into the town of Jefferson. It is known both as the namesake of the nearby Owl's Head Highway, and as a hiking destination on the Owl's Head Trail. In 2005 the Trust for Public Land (TPL) acquired private land including about three-quarters of the trail, and a road easement that could provide access in place of the part of the trail lying on land that remains private. TPL at that time anticipated transferring its land to the U.S. Forest Service in the following year, for inclusion in the WMNF.

The Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa – formerly called the Mountain View House – is an historic grand hotel at 101 Mountain View Road in Whitefield, New Hampshire, United States, with claims to dating back to 1865. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa is a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.It reportedly grew from a farm, which added a guest house. In reference to that, the current resort includes a farm with chicken, sheep, goats, and Scottish Highland cattle.It claims to have the oldest operating elevator in the state of New Hampshire.

The South Branch of the Israel River is a 6.8-mile-long (10.9 km) river in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Israel River and part of the Connecticut River watershed. For most of its length, it is within the White Mountain National Forest. The South Branch rises on the western slopes of Mount Jefferson in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains. It flows west, between the Ridge of the Caps to the south and Castellated Ridge to the north, then turns northwest when it reaches the Jefferson Notch Road. The river parallels the notch road and enters the town of Jefferson, where it joins the Israel River.

Situated on the northern edge of the White Mountains, Whitefield is home to the Mount Washington Regional Airport and the White Mountains Regional High School. Whitefield is part of the Berlin, NH–VT Micropolitan Statistical Area. The central village in the town, where 1,460 people resided at the 2020 census, is defined as the Whitefield census-designated place (CDP) and is located at the junction of U.S. Route 3, New Hampshire Route 116 and NH Route 142.

Carroll is a town in Coös County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 820 at the 2020 census. The two largest villages are Twin Mountain and Bretton Woods. Carroll is an important access point for recreational areas in the White Mountains, including many 4,000-footers, the Zealand River area, the Presidential Range, and the Presidential Dry River Wilderness. The town is home to the Mount Washington Hotel at Bretton Woods and to the Highland Center at Crawford Notch, the Appalachian Mountain Club's four-season lodge. Carroll is part of the Berlin, NH–VT Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The Mount Orne Bridge is a covered bridge over the Connecticut River between Lancaster, New Hampshire, and Lunenburg, Vermont. It joins Elm Street (New Hampshire Route 135) in South Lancaster with River Road (Town Highway 1) in Lunenburg. Built in 1911, it is one of two Howe truss bridges across the Connecticut River. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Mount Mitten is a 3,058 foot (932 meter) peak in the Dartmouth Range in New Hampshire. It is named for a mitten that Timothy Nash lost when climbing a tree atop the mountain to get his bearings. He saw Crawford Notch.
