Rainhill

Rainhill railway station serves the district of Rainhill in Merseyside, England. It is situated on the electrified northern route of the Liverpool to Manchester Line, forming part of the Liverpool City Line. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by Northern Trains on behalf of Merseytravel and are branded as Merseytravel services. Rainhill has an important place in railway history, as the location of the Rainhill Trials where the proposed designs of locomotive for the Liverpool and Manchester Railway were tested in competition.

Rainhill Hall or Loyola Hall is a Grade II listed country house built in the 19th century in Rainhill, Merseyside, England, by Bartholomew Bretherton. It is situated on the Warrington Road, next to St Bartholomew's Church. From 1923 to 2014, it was a retreat house run by the Society of Jesus. From 2017, it has been a hotel and wedding venue owned by Signature Living.

Rainhill High School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Rainhill, Merseyside, England. The school is the official Liverpool F.C. Academy Education Centre in Merseyside for under-18 players to be educated. Notable former pupils from the academy include Raheem Sterling and Trent Alexander-Arnold, as well as Jordon Ibe, Jordan Rossiter, Lloyd Jones and Jerome Sinclair, the youngest player in Liverpool's history. The school has recently partnered with FA FE to strengthen post-16 education for the players. FE FA is owned and run by Robbie Fowler, former Liverpool and England footballer.

St Bartholomew's Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Rainhill, Merseyside. It was built in 1838-40 in the style of the Church of San Bartolomeo all'Isola in Rome. Grade II listed, it is situated on the A57 Warrington Road, opposite Rainhill Hall and was described by Nicholas Pevsner as 'The noblest Catholic church in South Lancashire'.

St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Academy (formerly St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School) is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school located in Whiston in the English county of Merseyside. The school is named after Saint Edmund Arrowsmith, one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales. Formerly St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School was located on Scotchbarn Lane. In 2010 the school relocated to a new building located on the site of the former Knowsley Higher Side Comprehensive School on Cumber Lane. The new-build was funded as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme, and the new school was named St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Centre for Learning. In 2018, the school was renamed back to St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School.St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School was a voluntary aided school administered by Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council. In 2019 the school was rated 'Inadequate' by OFSTED and was placed into special measures. In May 2021 the school converted to academy status and was renamed St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Academy. The school is now sponsored by the Pope Francis Multi Academy Trust. It continues to be a Catholic School under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool.

It is situated on the electrified Merseytravel Liverpool to Wigan City Line, 9+3⁄4 miles (15.7 km) northeast of Liverpool. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by Northern Trains, however the station is branded Merseytravel using Merseytravel ticketing. The station opened with the line in 1871.

Eccleston Park railway station serves the Eccleston Park area of St Helens, Merseyside, England. It is situated on the electrified Merseytravel Liverpool to Wigan City Line, 8+3⁄4 miles (14.1 km) northeast of Liverpool Lime Street. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by Northern Trains, however the station is branded Merseytravel using Merseytravel ticketing. It was opened by the London & North Western Railway in July 1891. Electrification of this line was given the go-ahead in November 2010. On 17 May 2015, electric train services began on the Liverpool to Wigan line, operating Class 319 electric multiple units.
