The rue de la Victoire is a street in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. The former name of the street was "rue Chantereine", which means "singing frogs", after the many frogs in the area as the quarter was swampy. The street took the name "rue de la Victoire" in 1797 after the success of Napoleon's campaign in Italy. In 1816, during the Bourbon Restoration, the street changed its name, but the name was restored in 1833.

The Grand Synagogue of Paris, generally known as Synagogue de la Victoire or Grande Synagogue de la Victoire, is situated at 44, Rue de la Victoire, in the 9th arrondissement. It also serves as the official seat of the chief rabbi of Paris.

The rue de Provence is a street located in the 8th and 9th Arrondissements of Paris. It begins at the rue du Faubourg Montmartre and ends at the rue de Rome . Only the short part of the street between rue du Havre and rue de Rome is in the 8th arrondissement. Where the road is now, there used to be a little river called "ruisseau de Menilmontant" (Menilmontant brook). With the Parisian population increasing, this little river became the two-metre wide Grand Egout (great sewer) in the 17th century. Letters patent on December 15 1770 allowed the banker Jean-Joseph de Laborde to create the Rue de Provence; which would cover the "Grand Egout". The width of the road was set at 30 feet, confirmed by two ministry decisions on March 20 1813 and May 21 1823. While "Provence" is the name of a region in the south-east of France, the street is actually named in honor of Louis-Stanislas-Xavier, comte de Provence, king of France from 1814 to 1824 under the name of Louis XVIII. In 1884, the rue de Provence absorbed the rue Saint-Nicolas-d'Antin, which extended it further west.

Notre-Dame-de-Lorette (French pronunciation: ​[nɔtʁə dam də lɔʁɛt]) is a station on Line 12 of the Paris Métro in the 9th arrondissement. The station opened on 5 November 1910 as part of the original section of the Nord-Sud company's line A between Porte de Versailles and Notre-Dame-de-Lorette. It was the northern terminus of the line until its extension to Pigalle on 8 April 1911. On 27 March 1931 line A became line 12 of the Métro. The station is named after the nearby church Notre-Dame-de-Lorette. The name of the church refers to the Italian city of Loreto and its Chiesa della Casa Santa (Church of the Holy House), a centre of Marianism. The station is located within a short walking distance from Le Peletier station on line 7, but no free transfer is permitted.

The Laboratoire français de gemmologie (gemological laboratory of France) is the oldest gemological laboratory in the world, having been founded in 1929 by a customs official. It was run by the Paris Chamber of Commerce from 1933 to 2011, when it was attached to the Union Française de la Bijouterie, Joaillerie, Orfèvrerie, des Pierres et des Perles (BJOP). It operates completely independently as a source of expertise in gemology for clients' information and security, and has a partnership with the University of Nantes. Its director since 2011 has been Olivier Segura.

The Square d'Orléans (also known as the cité des Trois-Frères), is a residential square in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, at 80, rue Taitbout. The square was designed by the English architect Edward Cresy, and built in 1829 on land that had originally belonged to the family of the musician Daniel Auber. The original entry to the square was at 36, rue Saint-Lazare. The name 'Square d'Orléans' was probably a tribute to Louis Philippe of the Orléans family, who became King of France in 1830. ('Trois-Frères', the alternative name for the square, is the name of a former part of rue Taitbout). The facades of the interior courtyard are decorated by porches with Ionic half-pillars, in a style that is analogous to that of the terraces of Regent's Park, London, (e.g. Cumberland Terrace), designed by John Nash in the 1820s.The Square became a fashionable residence in which many celebrities of the July monarchy period took apartments, including Frédéric Chopin, George Sand, Marie Taglioni, Alexandre Dumas and Charles-Valentin Alkan.

Rue Laffitte is a street in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, located near the Metro stations Richelieu - Drouot and Notre-Dame-de-Lorette. This street was created in 1771 between the Boulevard des Italiens and the Rue de Provence. Its original name was Rue d'Artois, in honour of the Comte d'Artois, brother of the king Louis XVI, later king of France with the name of Charles X. But in 1792, during the French Revolution, the prince had emigrated outside France and the street was renamed Rue Cerutti. Giuseppe Cerutti was an Italian writer living in a mansion in the street at the junction with the Boulevard des Italiens. He was a former Jesuit, became Republican and was elected to the French National Assembly. He wrote the eulogy of Mirabeau. He died the same year (1791) and the street was renamed in his honour.Louis Napoleon, the future Napoleon III, was born at number 15 on 20 April 1808.After the Bourbon Restoration, the street's name was changed back to Rue d'Artois. In 1826, the street was lengthened to the street of Rue Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, in the field of Hôtel Thellusson, which was destroyed. The French financier and politician Jacques Laffitte (1767–1844) had his mansion at number 27. On 30 July 1830, with Adolphe Thiers and La Fayette, he took part in the Revolution of 1830: they offered the crown to the future king Louis-Philippe of France, because King Charles X had allowed soldiers to shoot civilians and because they feared that a republic would lead to disorder and foreign wars. In December 1830, Laffitte was President of the French Council of Ministers and the street was renamed after him. Laffitte shares with Victor Hugo the honour of having lived in a street bearing his name. Dowager queen Kishwar Sultana of erstwhile princely state of Oudh, in Northern India, stayed at Hotel Papy in 1858 on this street after she returned from London, when Queen Victoria refused her plea to restore her son Wajid Ali Shah to the throne of Oudh. Oudh had been annexed earlier by British East India Company. In fact she died at the hotel and is buried at Pere LaChaise cemetery in Paris.At the beginning of the street at the junction with the Boulevard des Italiens or the Boulevard Haussmann, there is an interesting view of the Sacré-Coeur de Montmartre, which seems to be on top of the church of Notre-Dame de Lorette. In fact, it is much more distant.

The Hôtel Thellusson was a luxurious hôtel particulier located in Paris, France, built in 1778 by Claude-Nicolas Ledoux for Marie-Jeanne Girardot de Vermenoux (1736–1781), the widow of Georges-Tobie de Thellusson, a Genevan banker.The house was situated at 30 rue de Provence, in an English garden between the rue de Provence and the rue de la Victoire. It opened on the rue de Provence with a large gate in the shape of a triumphal arch, in the "Medici style", at the end of the rue Laffitte, which at the time was called the rue d'Artois. The house was visible from the street at the end of a its drive. There was also a circular central courtyard, with a rock in the centre and a colonnade around the outside. After her death in 1781, Mme Thelusson's eldest son, John Isaac de Thellusson Sorcy (1764–1828) completed the house. As they were Swiss nationals, the Thellusson family kept ownership of the hotel during the Revolution, but they returned to it only in 1797. After the Thermidorian Reaction, there was a "victims' ball" in the hotel, for people who had had a close relative guillotined during the Revolution. John Isaac sold the hotel in 1802 to the Prince Joachim Murat, who exchanged it in 1807 with Napoleon Bonaparte for the Hôtel de l'Élysée, which was renamed the Élysée Palace, as well as one million francs. Napoleon offered the house to Tsar Alexander Ist as the Russian Embassy in France. The tsar stayed there in 1818, and Carlo Andrea Pozzo di Borgo, adviser of the tsar, organized prestigious balls and receptions in the hotel. The house was destroyed in 1826 when the rue Laffitte was extended to the rue de la Victoire.

Chaussée d'Antin–La Fayette (French pronunciation: ​[ʃose dɑ̃tɛ̃ la fajɛt]) is a station on Line 7 and Line 9 of the Paris Métro. The station was opened on 5 November 1910 with the opening of the first section of the line from Opéra to Porte de la Villette. The line 9 platforms opened on 3 June 1923 with the extension of the line from Saint-Augustin.

Trinité–d'Estienne d'Orves (French pronunciation: ​[tʁinite detjɛn dɔʁv]) is a station on Line 12 of the Paris Métro in the commercial centre of Paris and the 9th arrondissement.

The École supérieure des arts et techniques de la mode, or ESMOD, is a French private school of fashion. It was founded in Paris in 1841 by Alexis Lavigne. It has branches in Bordeaux, Lyon, Paris, Rennes and Roubaix in France, and in a number of cities in other countries, including Seoul, Moscow, Dubai, and Tokyo

This "quartier" of Paris got its name from the rue de la Chaussée-d'Antin in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. It runs north-northwest from the Boulevard des Italiens to the Église de la Sainte-Trinité. In the 17th century the chemin des Porcherons crossed a swampy piece of ground north of the porte Gaillon, a city gate in the wall built during the reign of Louis XIII, leading to the village of Les Porcherons. It is called a chaussée because the marshy ground required raised construction that ran along the top of a sort of dyke. At the rue de Provence it crossed the "great sewer" or Ruisseau de Ménilmontant, which was approximately two meters wide. Under an ordinance dated 4 December 1720, the street was graded and resurveyed as a wider boulevard with a width of eight toises and extended to meet the grands boulevards to the south. This new boulevard stretched from the end of Rue Louis-le-Grand to Rue Saint-Lazare. The frequent stays of Louis XV in Paris led to the building of splendid homes such as that of Louis Antoine de Pardaillan de Gondrin, the Duke of Antin (1665–1736). Son of the marquise de Montespan, the duke was the superintendent of the Bâtiments du Roi, or buildings of the king. His residence faced this street and his name became associated with it as early as 1712.
