Edwardstone Woods is a 27 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Edwardstone in Suffolk, England. It is in four areas, Park Wood with the adjacent High Wood, Cowper's Wood, Stallington Wood and Priory Down.These are ancient coppice with standards woods, which are mainly ash, maple and hazel, but there are large stands of hornbeam and small-leaved lime in some areas. The diverse ground flora is typical of Suffolk boulder clay soils.The woods are private with no public access.

Babergh was a hundred of Suffolk, consisting of 71,882 acres (290.90 km2). Its name survives in that of Babergh District, the local government district of southern Suffolk that includes the former hundred as well as those of Cosford and Samford. It consisted of the land to the north, east and south-east of Sudbury, the hundred's largest town, and its southern boundary forms the border with Essex. The majority of the land is rural. It was listed as Baberga in the Domesday Book, and the name is believed to mean "Mound of a man called Babba". The name derives from Babergh Heath, an area of land around the villages of Great and Little Waldingfield. The village of Great Waldingfield is home to Babergh Hall, the ancient meeting place of the hundred.

Great Waldingfield is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England about two miles (3 km) north-east of Sudbury and two miles (3 km) south-west of its sister village, Little Waldingfield. The village is split into two separate parts; the older and smaller part around the St. Lawrence Church, and the newer and larger section along the B1115 road between Sudbury and Lavenham. Most of the houses in the newer section were built after World War II, including much council housing. The parish also includes the hamlets of Upsher Green and part of Washmere Green. The population is estimated to be 1,460, reducing to 1,431 at the 2011 Census. The village hall was the normal location of the halfway feeding station on the Dunwich Dynamo overnight bicycle ride until 2010, whilst an episode of Lovejoy ("Fruit of the Dessert") was filmed in the village.

Little Cornard is a village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. Located around 0.5 miles (0.8 km) from its larger sibling, Great Cornard, on the B1508 road between Sudbury and Colchester, it is part of Babergh district, and has a population of 305, reducing to 286 at the 2011 Census. The parish also includes the hamlet of Workhouse Green. The parish's eastern boundary is the River Stour (also Suffolk's border with Essex). The parish is also home to the Cornard Mere Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the Appletree Wood and Mumford Wood wildlife sites.

The Sudbury transmitting station is a facility for telecommunications and broadcasting transmission at Sudbury, England. It consists of two guyed masts, one, the original, being 165.8 metres (544 ft) high, and a second mast (no longer in service) at 103 metres (338 ft). They have antennas attached at various heights. It is situated 14 miles WSW of Ipswich at a site height of 70m. All 6 Digital TV MUXES are transmitted from Sudbury using an omnidirectional pattern at an ERP of 100 kW. Originally Sudbury was a B group transmitter but in order to accommodate the digital transmissions it went E group then, at its 700MHz clearance in August 2018, it ended up a K group (or wideband). However, most B group, E group and wideband aerials will continue to work fine on it (see graph). It broadcast television and radio services to central and southern Suffolk and most of Essex, however southern areas of the county received a better TV signal from the Crystal Palace TV transmitter. This includes cities and towns such as Ipswich, Chelmsford, Colchester, Southend, Clacton-on-Sea and Haverhill. Signals can also be received as far as north Kent.

Assington is a village in Suffolk, England, 4 miles (6.4 km) south-east of Sudbury. At the 2011 Census it had a population of 402, estimated at 445 in 2019. The parish includes the hamlets of Rose Green and Dorking Tye.

Little Waldingfield is a village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. Located two miles from its sister village, Great Waldingfield, it is part of the Babergh district, and includes the hamlet of Humble Green. In 2021 its population was 364. Around half the village is a designated conservation area, and the parish also contains part of the Milden Thicks SSSI and two of the sources of the River Box. Robert Branford, thought to be the first black Metropolitan Police officer, died in 1869 and is buried in the parish churchyard.

Edwardstone is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district, in the county of Suffolk, England. In 2021 the parish had a population of 375. The parish boarders Boxford, Great Waldingfield, Groton, Little Waldingfield, Milden and Newton.

Chilton Hall is a Grade II* listed building in Chilton, Suffolk, England. The current building replaced an important moated medieval house. Of the original fifteenth century brickwork only one wing remains, as much of the house was destroyed by fire around 1800.

Cornard United Football Club is a football club based in Great Cornard, near Sudbury, Suffolk, England. They are currently members of the Eastern Counties League Division One North and play at Blackhouse Lane.

Melford Rural District was a rural district in the county of West Suffolk, England. It was created in 1894, under the Local Government Act 1894 from that part of the Sudbury rural sanitary district in West Suffolk (the rest becoming Belchamp Rural District in Essex). It was named after Long Melford and administered from Sudbury. Shortly after its creation, in 1896, the parish of Glemsford was made a separate urban district. On 1 April 1935 it lost the parishes of Cavendish and Hawkedon to the Clare Rural District. At the same time the Glemsford Urban District was abolished and restored to the district. Since 1 April 1974 it has formed part of the District of Babergh.

Milden Thicks is a 42.3-hectare (105-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Great Waldingfield in Suffolk, England. It is in four separate blocks, Bulls Cross Wood, Hazel Wood and the adjoining Hall Wood, Walding Wood and Long Wood.These are diverse mature woods, described by Natural England as of national importance for the comparisons which can be made between them. There are several wild service trees, and the ground flora is rich and typical of ancient woodland.
