Little Cornard is a village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. Located around 0.5 miles (0.8 km) from its larger sibling, Great Cornard, on the B1508 road between Sudbury and Colchester, it is part of Babergh district, and has a population of 305, reducing to 286 at the 2011 Census. The parish also includes the hamlet of Workhouse Green. The parish's eastern boundary is the River Stour (also Suffolk's border with Essex). The parish is also home to the Cornard Mere Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the Appletree Wood and Mumford Wood wildlife sites.

Cornard United Football Club is a football club based in Great Cornard, near Sudbury, Suffolk, England. They are currently members of the Eastern Counties League Division One North and play at Blackhouse Lane.

Great Cornard is a large village and civil parish that is part of the town of Sudbury, in the Babergh district, in the county of Suffolk, England.

Thomas Gainsborough School, formerly Great Cornard Upper School, is a secondary school and sixth form in the village of Great Cornard, part of the town of Sudbury in the English county of Suffolk that educates approximately 1,400 pupils. It was granted the status of Specialist School in 1998, and was re-designated Technology College in 2001. The school converted to academy status in January 2015, when it became a member of the Samuel Ward Academy Trust.

Melford Rural District was a rural district in the county of West Suffolk, England. It was created in 1894, under the Local Government Act 1894 from that part of the Sudbury rural sanitary district in West Suffolk (the rest becoming Belchamp Rural District in Essex). It was named after Long Melford and administered from Sudbury. Shortly after its creation, in 1896, the parish of Glemsford was made a separate urban district. On 1 April 1935 it lost the parishes of Cavendish and Hawkedon to the Clare Rural District. At the same time the Glemsford Urban District was abolished and restored to the district. Since 1 April 1974 it has formed part of the District of Babergh.

Newton, also known as Newton Green to distinguish it from Nowton near Bury St Edmunds, and Old Newton near Stowmarket, is a small village and civil parish in Suffolk, England. Part of Babergh district, it is located on the A134 (Assington Road) between Sudbury and Colchester, around three miles from the former. Newton was recorded in Domesday as "Niwetuna". Church Road leads north off A134 towards Newton Hall and All Saints Church (both 1 km from the village centre). Unusually, the village green to the south and west has been converted to a 9-hole common land course in 1907. It is one of the oldest golf clubs in Suffolk. Residents are entitled to membership of the local golf club, though are limited to using the holes on the village green and cannot use the clubhouse. The green is also a wildlife site. The parish contains Alstrop Wood and part of the Edwardstone Woods SSSI, both of which are classified as ancient woodland. The small hamlet of Sackers Green is also within the parish. The village previously had a school, but it was closed in 1938. The building is today used as the village hall.

St Mary's Church is a redundant Church of England parish church in the civil parish of Chilton, Suffolk, England. It is a Grade I listed building, and is in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church is about 550 yards (500 m) south of the Tudor Chilton Hall and 1+1⁄4 miles (2 km) east-northeast of the centre of Sudbury. To the north and east it is surrounded by farmland. To the south and west are the Sudbury eastern bypass and associated modern buildings on the outskirts of Sudbury.

Chilton is a civil parish on the eastern outskirts of Sudbury, in the Babergh district, in the county of Suffolk, England. In 2011 the parish had a population of 367. Once a normal village, Chilton today consists of scattered clusters of housing and an isolated Church of St Mary, and is a prime example of a deserted medieval village.

Cornard Mere is an 8.5-hectare (21-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Little Cornard in Suffolk. It is managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust. This site has diverse habitats, with fen which is seasonally flooded, ruderal herb vegetation, woodland, grassland and scrub. Flora include water mint, gypsywort, skullcap, ragged robin and southern marsh orchid. There is access from Bures Road.

Chilton Hall is a Grade II* listed building in Chilton, Suffolk, England. The current building replaced an important moated medieval house. Of the original fifteenth century brickwork only one wing remains, as much of the house was destroyed by fire around 1800.

The Little Cornard derailment occurred on 17 August 2010 when a passenger train collided with a road vehicle on a level crossing on the Gainsborough Line near Little Cornard, Suffolk, and partly derailed. The vehicle, a tanker lorry, had begun crossing over the track when the Class 156 train from Sudbury destined for Marks Tey struck it whilst travelling at a speed of approximately 40 miles per hour (64 km/h). Twenty-three people aboard the train were injured, five of them seriously, including the driver. The lorry driver was subsequently jailed and disqualified from driving for causing the accident, after he admitted to having not used the crossing telephone to obtain permission from the signaller to cross the railway.

Great Waldingfield is a village and civil parish in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England about two miles (3 km) north-east of Sudbury and two miles (3 km) south-west of its sister village, Little Waldingfield. The village is split into two separate parts; the older and smaller part around the St. Lawrence Church, and the newer and larger section along the B1115 road between Sudbury and Lavenham. Most of the houses in the newer section were built after World War II, including much council housing. The parish also includes the hamlets of Upsher Green and part of Washmere Green. The population is estimated to be 1,460, reducing to 1,431 at the 2011 Census. The village hall was the normal location of the halfway feeding station on the Dunwich Dynamo overnight bicycle ride until 2010, whilst an episode of Lovejoy ("Fruit of the Dessert") was filmed in the village.
