The Whitsett Historic District is a national historic district that is located in Perry Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania in the United States. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

The Banning Railroad Bridge is a structure that carries the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway across the Youghiogheny River in Perry Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. The bridge was constructed in 1930 by the American Bridge Company as part of the major railroad to be built in Pennsylvania. Like the Speers Railroad Bridge along the same route, the structure uses a "K-truss" design that is extremely uncommon outside of the Great Plains states. Although once part of a critical connection between the Pittsburgh industrial region and the Western Maryland Railroad, today the bridge sees light traffic and is mainly used for the transportation of coal.

Jacobs Creek is a 33.4-mile-long (53.8 km) tributary of the Youghiogheny River beginning in Acme, Pennsylvania and draining at its mouth in the town of Jacobs Creek into the Youghiogheny River. Jacobs Creek is the southwestern border of Westmoreland County and the northwestern border of Fayette County. The area was a major producer of rye whiskey in the decades before Prohibition.

Whitsett is an unincorporated community in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, United States, approximately 30 miles (50 km) south of Pittsburgh. The population is estimated at 200. It was founded in 1845 by Ralph C. Whitsett Sr. He and his family built a large red brick house in 1873, which still stands today. The community is made up of mostly “company” houses that were built for workers who worked in a large coal mine located nearby; the mine was Banning #21. Most of the houses were semi-detached "twins" built to accommodate two families. The mine has been closed since 1954 and most of the houses have been renovated and turned into single-family dwellings.

The Smithton High-Level Bridge is a structure that crosses the Youghiogheny River between South Huntingdon Township and Rostraver Township. The bridge was opened in 1956 as one of the last links in the replacement of the old alignment of Pennsylvania Route 71 with a new four-lane freeway between Washington and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. During the same year of the bridge's completion, it was announced that the highway would become part of Interstate 70; it took on this designation in 1964 after the completion of freeway stretches in neighboring West Virginia linked PA 71 to a similar freeway in Ohio. Part of a busy truck route, the bridge is part of a highway that has been plagued by surface problems. In 1989, a crack in the superstructure, the result of a 35-year-old construction error, forced the closure of the bridge for five days, stranding truckers. The bridge was rehabilitated in 2000.

The Smithton Low-Level Bridge is a structure that carries Pennsylvania Route 981 across the Youghiogheny River between South Huntingdon Township and Rostraver Township, just south of Smithton, Pennsylvania. The previous structure on this site was a cantilever bridge built in 1900 to connect Smithton, which was then thriving due to its brewery, with residences on the west bank of the river; a state court ruled in favor of petitioners who demanded the creation of a bridge, but ordered that they contribute $1,200 in construction costs. Until the completion of the Smithton High-Level Bridge in 1956 (which eventually became part of busy Interstate 70), this structure was one of the most important vehicular crossings of the river. In 1986, the original bridge was replaced by a modern girder bridge.

Frazier High School is a rural, public high school. It is the sole high school in the Frazier School District. It is in northern Fayette County, Pennsylvania, in the town of Perryopolis. In the 2015–2016 school year, enrollment was reported as 340 pupils in 9th through 12th grades. Frazier High School was established in 1966, and resulted in the consolidation of the Perry and Lower Tyrone School Districts. The school was last renovated in 1990, when space was reconfigured for the addition of the Frazier Middle School, the high school's sole feeder. The name comes from Mary Fuller Frazier, a wealthy resident who gave an endowment to the district for the improvement of the school system. The Intermediate Unit IU1 provides the school and the district with a wide variety of services like specialized education for disabled students and hearing, background checks for employees, state mandated recognizing and reporting child abuse training, speech and visual disability services and criminal background check processing for prospective employees and professional development for staff and faculty.

Perry Township is a township in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,339 at the 2020 census, a decline from the figure of 2,552 tabulated in 2010. The Frazier School District serves the township. Star Junction, Wickhaven, Whitsett, Banning and Layton are unincorporated communities within the township. The borough of Perryopolis, a separate municipality, lies enclaved at the center of the township.

The Household No. 1 Site is an archaeological site in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. Located off Timms Lane in Rostraver Township, the site lies on a bluff above the Youghiogheny River.: 1, 2 Local archaeologists knew of the site in the early part of the twentieth century; the best records of the site are from amateur George Fisher, who studied the area from 1900 to 1950. More complete records were obtained after a 1980 investigation, which was part of the planning for the construction of baseball fields in the vicinity. Because archaeologists discovered a significant range of artifacts in the location, the fields were moved to allow for continued excavation. This investigation determined that the site was that of a Monongahela village.: 2 Evidence of warfare dominated the findings from the Household 1 Site. Many burials were present at the site — including sixteen at the site of one house alone — and projectile points composed a much larger percentage of the total findings than did domestic tools. Furthermore, the small total number of artifacts overall shows that the site was only occupied for a short period of time, and its location on a river bluff suggests that its site was chosen for defensibility. These discoveries, like those at many other Monongahela village sites, demonstrate that the Household residents lived in a highly martial culture.: 4 In 1986, the Household Site was added to the National Register of Historic Places for its archaeological significance.

The Karolcik Building, also known as the Perry Theater, is an historic American commercial and theater building that is located in Perryopolis, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
