Mission San José is a Spanish mission located in the present-day city of Fremont, California. It was founded on June 11, 1797, by the Franciscan order and was the fourteenth Spanish mission established in California. The mission is the namesake of the Mission San José district of Fremont, which was an independent town subsumed into the city when it was incorporated in 1957. The Mission entered a long period of gradual decline after Mexican secularization act of 1833. After suffering decline, neglect and earthquakes most of the mission was in ruins. Restoration efforts in the intervening periods have reconstructed many of the original structures. The old mission church remains in use as a chapel of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, a parish of the Diocese of Oakland. The museum also features a visitor center, museum, and slide show telling the history of the mission.

Washington Township Museum of Local History is a historical museum located in Fremont, California. The two historical organizations, the Mission Peak Heritage Foundation (MPHF) and Washington Township Historical Society (WTHS), formed the Museum of Local History Guild to focus on education, archival research and preservation of the historical resources of Washington Township. The Washington Township was created in 1853 from the southwestern part of Alameda County. For many decades, Washington Township consisted of agricultural fields dotted with eight towns, many now part of Fremont and some with local historians publishing their stories. The eight towns were the town of Newark, the two towns that became Union City, viz., Alvarado and Decoto, and the five towns that became Fremont, viz., Centerville, Niles (Vallejo Mills), Mission San Jose, Irvington, and Warm Springs.Cecilia Weed was one of the people who led the effort to create the museum. Philip Holmes was the museum's first president.The historical collection of Dr. Robert Fisher found a home here, which includes local record books, documents and 7500 photographs.The museum is located in a historic fire station building which was built in 1954 for the Mission San Jose Fire District. Volunteer fire-fighters operated the fire station until the City of Fremont took over. It served as a fire station until 1994, then was remodeled and was leased to the Mission Peak Heritage Foundation and The Washington Township Historical Society for use as a museum. Volunteers have landscaped the garden around the museum.The Washington Township Museum of Local History offers tours for classes and other groups at museum and at the Higuera Adobe Historical Park. Walking tours explore local history from the settlement of Washington Township through the development of the Tri-cities: Fremont, Newark and Union City.

The Laguna Creek watershed consists of 25.1 square miles (100 km2) of land within northern California's Alameda County. The watershed drains the foothills of the Diablo Range south of Niles Canyon. To the southeast, the area of Mission Peak Regional Preserve around Mission Peak is included. Agua Caliente, Canada del Aliso, Mission, Morrison, Sabercat, Vargas, and Washington creeks drain the area of the watershed. They drain into Laguna Creek and eventually Mud Slough. Water from winter and spring storms feed the creeks and the watershed. Natural springs along Mission Peak are also a source of water. Many of the creeks are dry when there is no rain.

Rancho Agua Caliente was a 9,564-acre (38.70 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Alameda County, California granted in 1836 by Governor Nicolás Gutiérrez to Antonio Suñol and confirmed in 1839 by Governor Juan Alvarado to Fulgencio Higuera. The name means "warm water" and refers to the warm springs located in the foothills a short distance south of Mission San José. The grant is just south of present-day Fremont.

Mission San Jose High School (MSJHS or MSJ) is a four-year co-educational public high school founded in 1964. It is located in the Mission San Jose district of Fremont, California, United States. It is one of five comprehensive high schools in the Fremont Unified School District. Mission San Jose High School is the third largest high school in Fremont.

Leland Stanford Winery was a winery located in the Santa Clara Valley AVA, in Fremont, California, United States. The winery was founded by Leland Stanford in 1869. The vineyard was planted by Stanford's brother, Josiah Stanford. The winery was owned by Weibel Champagne Vineyards until 1996. The area has since been developed into housing, and now consists of a single unused brick building. It was the third vineyard owned by Leland Stanford. It is a California Historical Landmark.

Mission Pass, also known as the Sunol Grade and formerly as Stockton Pass, is a gap in the hills of the Mount Hamilton Range in Alameda County, California. It lies to the northeast of Mission San José, in Fremont, and leads from there into the Sunol Valley. Its elevation is 659 feet (201 m) above sea level. Today, Interstate 680 traverses this pass.

Founded in 2010, Averroes High School is a college preparatory Islamic high school (grades 9–12) in Fremont, California. It is the first Islamic high school in the Bay Area.

Oorja Fuel Cells (Oorja Protonics Inc) is an energy company that designs, manufactures and commercializes direct methanol fuel cells for application in the logistics, automotive, distributed generation (micro-grid), and telecommunication industries. Oorja develops direct methanol fuel cells ranging in power from 0.5 to 100 kilowatts. Oorja is considered one of the four major players in the North American Fuel Cell Market.

Warm Springs/South Fremont station is a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station located in the Warm Springs district of Fremont, California, United States. The East Bay station is served by the Berryessa/North San José–Daly City line and Berryessa/North San José–Richmond line. It was the southern terminus of both lines from its opening on March 25, 2017, until June 13, 2020, when BART opened the first phase of the Silicon Valley BART extension. The station has an island platform between the surface-level BART tracks, with a fare mezzanine above the platform. A footbridge connects the mezzanine to a rotunda which serves as the station entrance.

Washington College, also called Washington College of Science and Industry, was a private coeducational secondary school established 1871 in the village of Washington Corners, which later (1884) became the town of Irvington, now (since 1956) part of the City of Fremont, California. Washington College opened in 1872 and was one of the first coeducational technical schools in California. In 1883 the college transitioned to a sectarian coeducational institution of higher education, under the auspices of the Disciples of Christ, and offered both preparatory and college-level courses until it closed in 1894. Washington College was succeeded in 1896 by a girls' school, the Curtner Seminary. After a fire in 1899, this was in turn succeeded in 1900 by a military school for boys, Anderson Academy, which operated until the outbreak of World War I.

Mission Peak is a mountain peak located east of Fremont, California. It is the northern summit on a ridge that includes Mount Allison and Monument Peak. Mission Peak has symbolic importance, and is depicted on the logo of the City of Fremont. It is located in Mission Peak Regional Preserve, a regional park operated by the East Bay Regional Park District.
