Bouldnor and Hamstead Cliffs is a 95.7-hectare (236-acre) site of special scientific interest which is located north-east of Yarmouth. The site was notified in 1951, for both its biological and geological features.

Hamstead should not be confused with any of the many places called Hampstead.Hamstead is a small rural settlement in the civil parish of Shalfleet, on the Isle of Wight. It is located about three miles east of Yarmouth, in the northwest of the island, between the settlements of Cranmore in the east, Ningwood to the south, and the Newtown River to the east. The northern edge of Hamstead on the Solent forms the centre of the Hamstead Heritage Coast.

Ningwood is a village on the Isle of Wight. It is on several lanes about three miles east of Yarmouth in the northwest of the island. In the 2011 Census the population of the village was included in the civil parish of Shalfleet.

Bouldnor Cliff is a submerged prehistoric settlement site in the Solent. The site dates from the Mesolithic era and is in approximately 11 metres (6 fathoms) of water just offshore of the village of Bouldnor on the Isle of Wight in the United Kingdom. The preservation of organic materials from this era that do not normally survive on dry land has made Bouldnor important to the understanding of Mesolithic Britain, and the BBC Radio 4's Making History programme described it "probably Europe's most important Mesolithic site" albeit concealed under water. The site was first discovered by divers from the Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology (now the Maritime Archaeology Trust) in 1999, when a lobster was observed discarding worked flint tools from its burrow on the seabed. Since then, several years of fieldwork have revealed that Bouldnor was a settlement site about 8,000 years ago, at a time when lower sea levels meant that the Solent was just a river valley. The work done so far has already revealed that the technology of Mesolithic settlers was probably 2,000 years ahead of what had previously been believed.

Bouldnor Battery is a military battery located in Bouldnor on the Isle of Wight. It saw active service in World War II and was fully decommissioned in 1956. Today, it is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Wellow is a village on the Isle of Wight. It is located about two miles east of Yarmouth in the northwest of the island. The name is believed to be of Jutish origin. Recently a proposal to erect a wind farm was rejected after a high-profile protest campaign. Located within Wellow are a small chapel, post office, vineyard and several farms including Mattingley and Manor Farm. The Hamstead trail runs through Wellow.

Ningwood railway station, was an intermediate station of the Freshwater, Yarmouth and Newport Railway, incorporated in 1860.

Thorley Street is a village on the Isle of Wight. It is located four kilometres from Totland in the northwest of the island. It is in the civil parish of Shalfleet.

St Swithun's Church, Thorley is a parish church in the Church of England located in Thorley, Isle of Wight.

Thorley is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight, England. It is 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) from Yarmouth in the northwest of the island and is 9 miles (14 km) west from Newport. In 1931 the parish had a population of 125.

Bouldnor is a hamlet near Yarmouth on the west coast of the Isle of Wight in southern England. It is the location of Bouldnor Battery, a gun battery emplacement. Bouldnor is located on the A3054 road, and public transport is provided by buses on Southern Vectis route 7. A soapbox derby was held in Bouldnor in 2005. It was a big success, so the event was repeated in 2006, though moved to Newport and renamed the Isle of Wight Soapbox Derby Challenge.
