Tonfanau

Tonfanau railway station is a railway stop that serves Tonfanau in Gwynedd, Wales. The station is located alongside the ruins of the army base it once served and only a couple of occupied buildings can be found within the surrounding area.

The River Dysynni (Welsh: Afon Dysynni) is a river in mid Wales. Its source is the Tal-y-llyn Lake (Welsh: Llyn Mwyngil) just south of the Cadair Idris massif and its mouth is in the Cardigan Bay area of the Irish Sea to the north of Tywyn. It measures about 16 mi (26 km) in length.

Sarn y Bwch, (Welsh for 'buck's causeway'), is one of three parallel reefs extending beneath the sea into Cardigan Bay from the west coast of Wales. The causeway, probably a medial moraine is made of glacial deposits left by receding ice sheets at the end of the last ice age. It is sometimes called Sarn y Bwlch ('the causeway of the pass'), but this form is later and less common than Sarn y Bwch. Sarn y Bwch is the central of the three, extending south-westwards from near Tywyn. To the north is the causeway of Sarn Badrig, whilst to the south is Sarn Gynfelyn, which extends from near Aberystwyth.

Llanfendigaid Estate, located on the Cardigan Bay coast of southern Gwynedd (formerly Merioneth: Welsh: Meirionnydd, Sir Feirionydd), near Tywyn in north Wales is a mid-Georgian house that has belonged to the same family for over 600 years. Llanfendigaid is listed Grade II* by Cadw which is only given to houses of exceptional historic interest. The estate once encompassed over 16,000 acres (65 km2), is now reduced to 16 acres (0.065 km2) within the Snowdonia National Park.

Broad Water, or Broadwater (Welsh: Aber Dysynni) is a salt water lagoon near Tywyn, Wales formed from the silted up estuary of the River Dysynni. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the estuary was used by the shipbuilding industry, as small sailing ships were launched to carry peat from the local peat bogs. This industry was abandoned in the nineteenth century when the estuary became too silted up, forming the lagoon. The outflow of the lagoon flows beneath a railway bridge before entering Cardigan Bay. The area is a haven for many wetland birds, and has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Royal Air Force Towyn, or more simply RAF Towyn, is a former Royal Air Force airfield located 10.3 miles (16.6 km) west of Machynlleth, Powys and 12.2 miles (19.6 km) north of Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales. Situated along the northern outskirts of Tywyn and within the southern area of Aber Dysynni, it opened for RAF Army Cooperation Command in 1940 as an air-cooperation base for the Royal Artillery Anti-Aircraft Practice Camp at Tonfanau. It was home to two flights which formed into a single squadron, but in May 1945 the squadron moved to RAF Llandbedr and RAF Towyn was transferred to No. 22 Group RAF in RAF Technical Training Command. Airfield personnel also supported the emergency services when air accidents occurred in north west Wales. The air base closed in July 1945 and the site was taken over by the army as Morfa Camp.

Llangelynnin (; also Llangelynin) is a small village and community near Tywyn, Gwynedd, Wales. Although the village is usually known as Llangelynnin in English, the community name used was Llangelynin though now its also "Llangelynnin".

Llangelynin station was a single-platform halt on the Cambrian Line, which served the small village of Llangelynin in Gwynedd, Wales. It was opened in 1930 by the Great Western Railway and was known as Llangelynin Halt. It was closed by British Rail in 1991; all stations had to be lit at night on safety grounds and it was deemed not worth the upgrade. Train services were officially "suspend[ed] ... until further notice" with effect from 18 November 1991; the "unsafe condition of the platform" was given as the reason. The line is still open, but trains no longer call at the station.

The A493 is a road located on the west coast of mid Wales and connects Dolgellau to Machynlleth via the coast, avoiding Corris and Cross Foxes.

Tywyn railway station serves the town of Tywyn in Gwynedd, Wales. The station is on the Cambrian Coast Line, with passenger services to Barmouth, Harlech, Porthmadog, Pwllheli, Aberdovey, Machynlleth and Shrewsbury.

Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn is a bilingual coeducational secondary school for pupils aged between 11 and 16 years. It is situated in Tywyn, Gwynedd. As of 2018, around 19% of pupils come from Welsh-speaking homes.

Tywyn Wharf railway station is the western terminus and principal station of the Talyllyn Railway in Tywyn, Gwynedd in mid-Wales.
