Quintrell Downs

Quintrell Downs railway station (Cornish: Goonkoyntrel) serves the village of Quintrell Downs in Cornwall, England. It is 300 miles 16 chains (300.20 miles, 483.13 km) measured from the zero point at London Paddington (via Box and Plymouth Millbay), on the Atlantic Coast Line. The station is managed by Great Western Railway with local services in each direction all calling here.

Kestle and Kestle Mill are hamlets in Cornwall, England. They are situated south of Quintrell Downs; Kestle Mill is on the A3058 main road. It is mostly in the civil parish of St. Newlyn East Kestle is an ancient village originally named Kestell predating King John but not listed in the Domesday Book. Kestle Mill stands just back from the road behind the old road bridge. The last recorded use of the mill varies from 1915 to 1950 but photos exist of the mill building and wheel taken during the 1920s which show the mill wheel overgrown and out of use. It is certain that by 1955 the mill was disused and abandoned and around this time the Mill was converted into two cottages. Looking at the mill building from the road today, the old Mill house is on the left hand side and the converted mill is on the right. All that remains of the mill machinery on site are three millstones standing in front of the building and a small section of the old mill leat which used to feed into a small culvert to one side of the old bridge.

Tresillian House is a country house near St Newlyn East, off the A3058 road, Cornwall, England. It was registered as a Grade II listed building on 30 May 1967. It is most associated with the Bennet family historically; John Bennet, Curate of Antony was once owner of the house and in 1837 it was occupied by Richard Gully Bennet, who was a Magistrate of Cumberland. Tresillian means "a place of eels" in Cornish.

Trerice (pronounced Tre-rice) is an historic manor in the parish of Newlyn East (Newlyn in Pydar), near Newquay, Cornwall, United Kingdom. The surviving Tudor manor house known as Trerice House is located at Kestle Mill, three miles east of Newquay (grid reference SW840584). The house with its surrounding garden has been owned by the National Trust since 1953 and is open to the public. The house is a Grade I listed building. The two stone lions on the front lawn are separately listed, Grade II. The garden features an orchard with old varieties of fruit trees.

Colan (Cornish: Kolan) is a village and civil parish in mid-Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated approximately three miles (5 km) east of Newquay. The electoral ward is called Colan and Mawgan. The population of this ward at the 2011 census was 4,256 The hamlets of Bosoughan, Chapel, Gwills, Kestle Mill, Lane, Mountjoy, Quintrell Downs, Trebarber and Trencreek are in the parish. The Fir Hill, and Firhill Woods near Nanswhyden, contains the ruins of Fir Hill Manor. Colan Church dates back to the thirteenth century.

Colan Church also known as St Colan Church is a 13th-century church in Colan, mid-Cornwall, UK. Dedicated to St Colanus, it became a Grade I listed building in 1967. The vicars of St Columb Minor have served the church since the middle of the 20th century.

St Columb Minor (Cornish: Sen Kolumm Vyghan) (Latin: Columba Minor Sancta) is a village on the north coast of Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. St Columb alone by default refers to the nearby St Columb Major; both the town and the village are named after the 6th century saint Columba of Cornwall and have churches dedicated to her. The village of St Columb Minor dates back to the 11th century, however a settlement existed much earlier under the Manor of Rialton, it has now been encroached upon by its larger neighbour Newquay. Whilst the village is still an ecclesiastical parish, St Columb Minor is no longer a civil parish, forming part of Newquay.

Treviglas Academy is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Newquay, Cornwall, England. The age range of the students is 11 to 18. The original buildings were opened in the early 1960s but further development has taken place on a regular basis ever since, such as the library, information technology rooms and science facilities as well as the post-16 learning centre. Treviglas opened a new sports facility, The Dome, in October 2001 and, in February 2004, a new dedicated sixth form and community learning block was opened. The SportsHub, funded by Sport England, opened in 2012. From the playing fields there are views to the sea dropping down toward Porth, with the village of St Columb Minor neighbouring the college. As of January 2019, Treviglas Community College became part of The Roseland Multi Academy Trust and became Treviglas Academy. Treviglas was the first school in the county to receive Business and Enterprise status and was awarded an overall Outstanding by Ofsted for the second consecutive time in their second most recent inspection (2012). As of July 2017 the school has now been judged Inadequate by OfSTED in their most recent inspection. The college focuses on core academic subjects and vocational training for students, including Post-16 academies which teach students lifelong learning and work place skills at A-Level. The college has around 900 students. This includes around 120 in the sixth form centre. The college draws students from 13 primary schools, including the town of Newquay and surrounding rural communities.
