Eastern Ore Mountains

Frauenstein (German pronunciation: [ˈfʁaʊ̯ənˌʃtaɪ̯n] ) is a town in the district of Mittelsachsen, in Saxony, Germany. It is situated in the eastern Ore Mountains, 19 km (11.81 mi) southeast of Freiberg, and 33 km (20.51 mi) southwest of Dresden. Frauenstein Castle is located northeast of the town centre.

The ruins of Frauenstein Castle (German: Burg Frauenstein) are located on a 680 metres (2,230 ft) high granite rock on the crest of the Eastern Ore Mountains near the town of Frauenstein in the district of Mittelsachsen.

It is a typical Waldhufendorf, that has preserved its tidy, village character today with its rural two- and three-sided farmsteads and timber-framed houses.

Dorfchemnitz is a municipality in the district of Mittelsachsen, in Saxony, Germany.

Pretzschendorf is a village and a former municipality in the Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge district, in Saxony, Germany. Since 31 December 2012, it is part of the municipality Klingenberg.

Eisenhammer Dorfchemnitz is an historic hammer mill in Dorfchemnitz in the Ore Mountains of Germany. The mill is an important witness to proto-industrial development in the Ore Mountains. Of the once-numerous hammer mills only three others remain working in Saxony apart from the Frohnauer Hammer: the Frohnauer Hammer Mill, the Grünthal Copper Hammer Mill and the Freibergsdorf Hammer Mill. The mill, which is situated on the Chemnitzbach stream, has been a technology museum since 1969 which, in addition to the actual hammer mill, also has a local history room.
