Oegstgeest (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌuxstˈxeːst] (listen)) is a town and municipality in the province of South Holland in the western Netherlands. Its population was 24,426 in 2019.

De Beukenhof was a hotel-restaurant located in Oegstgeest, Netherlands. It was a former fine dining restaurant that was awarded one or two Michelin stars since 1957 up to 1995. The restaurant closed in 2014, due to bankruptcy.Head chef in the time of the Michelin stars was Koos van Fulpen. He retired in 1995.

The Corpus Museum is a human biology interactive museum, located near Oegstgeest in the Netherlands. Billed as "a journey through the human body", the museum provides both education and entertainment through a combination of permanent and variable collections. Opened in 2008 by Queen Beatrix, the museum is the world's first museum of its type.

The Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML) is an institute of the Faculty of Science of Leiden University in the Netherlands. The main area of work is research and education in the multidisciplinary field of environmental sciences. The African Studies Centre (Afrika-Studiecentrum) is a scientific institute in the Netherlands that undertakes social-science research on Africa with the aim of promoting a better understanding of historical, current and future social developments in Sub-Saharan Africa. Naturalis Biodiversity Center (Dutch: Nederlands Centrum voor Biodiversiteit Naturalis) is a national museum of natural history and a research center on biodiversity in Leiden, Netherlands. The museum, except the research facilities, was closed from September 2018 to mid 2019 due to renovations. Temporary exhibitions were held in the Pesthuis (historical Plague hospital), the former entrance building, during the renovations.Although its current name and organization are relatively recent, the history of Naturalis can be traced back to the early 1800s. Its collection includes approximately 37 million specimens, making it one of the largest natural history collections in the world.

The Leidse Hout (English: Leiden Woods) is a public urban park in Leiden, Netherlands. It is located between the border of Oegstgeest, approximately 1.5 kilometers northwest of the Leiden city center, and on the northern border of the Leiden Diaconessenhuis hospital. The park was opened on June 30, 1931 and was the product of a governmental program that provided work for the unemployed during the Great Depression. A tea house, deer park, and a music pavilion is incorporated into the park. Additionally, there is an adjacent sports park with tennis courts, soccer fields, a track, and a softball field.
