The Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) is a German international school in Parktown, Johannesburg.Founded in 1891, the DSJ is one of the oldest schools in the city and one of the largest German schools on the African continent. At present approximately 1050 learners of 27 different nationalities are taught at the DSJ. The Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg is an integrated school with a bilingual educational programme: it offers both Matric, the South African exit exam, and the German Abitur.

Richmond is a small, centrally located suburb in Johannesburg whose Edwardian, Art Deco and Mid Century Modern houses are being both gentrified and torn down. Richmond, as a location, was also one of the first sites for Black Entrepreneurs in early Johannesburg. Zulu men from KwaZulu-Natal, members of the AmaWasha (or Zulu Washerment) formed a guild. Laundry work, among Zulu men, was a prestigious occupation and pay was handsome. The AmaWasha had its history in a precolonial artisanal associations which practiced hide dressing In their laundering work, the AmaWasha recalled the specialist craft of hide-dressing. This powerful group of approximately 1200 African washermen, would clean the mining town's dirty laundry. Things began to change with a drought in 1895 In 1902 an American entrepreneur and laundryman, Frank Oscar Nelson established Steam Laundry and competed with two other foreign owned laundry businesses, the Crystal Steam Laundry and the Auckland Park Steam Laundry. However, by 1914, their the amamwasha's efforts had been eclipsed and Rand Steam Laundries, would do the washing, ironing, dying and dry-cleaning of dirty clothes up until 1962. Today, the social history of these early entrepreneurs are recognized in Rand Steam Shopping Centre. While most of the original buildings were illegally demolished in 2008, the remaining structures were declared heritage sites by the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation and amaWasha bricks are inserted into the walls. Richmond residents have a wide variety of amenities in walking distance including 44 Stanley, Love Books, Randsteam and Bamboo Centre and Boxpark inspired 27 Boxes. Soccer sports fields and Melville Koppies maintain an impression of a small highveld town.

Endstead is a historic house in Parktown, Johannesburg, South Africa built in 1903 by Ernest Willmot Sloper for his own use. The original property has been sub-divided; the only major changes to the house have been the addition of a double garage by Tony Bentel, an enlarged kitchen 1920 by Solomon and Marshall, a garage by Marshall and Fleming that replaced the stables in 1923 and a swimming pool plus pool change rooms.

Love Books is an independent bookshop located in Melville, Johannesburg. It was founded in 2009 by Jaci Jenkins and Kate Rogan. The business offers works by local authors, and hosts book launches as well as sponsored literary discussions. It also often works in collaboration with neighbouring coffee shops to spotlight new authors and their works. Love Books was founded with the aim of countering elitism in the literary sphere by establishing an accessible and egalitarian environment. It was awarded 'Best Independent Bookseller' at the Sefika Publishers Awards in 2019.

Radiopark (also known as South African Broadcasting Corporation Building, simply SABC Building) is a skyscraper in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, South Africa. It is thirty stories tall and is the headquarters of the South African Broadcasting Corporation.

7th Street is a street located in the Johannesburg suburb of Melville. It is lined with many restaurants and bars, which are mostly frequented by students from the nearby University of Johannesburg. It is featured in the South African soap opera 7de Laan.

The Johannesburg Gas Works also known as Egoli Gas Works established in 1892, is one of the most historically and architecturally significant industrial sites in Johannesburg. Not only does it have intact machinery to show the production of gas but it also has structurally sound buildings which in their entirety show the process from how gas was produced out of coal up to how it was distributed to the public. Gas production is now extinct but the buildings remain as a reminder of what used to be on the site. The Gas tanks are a major landmark in Johannesburg and make their appearance in most portraits showing Johannesburg’s skyline. The Gas Works also have a rich workers history, which exemplifies the way in which workers were segregated during apartheid.

Melville is a bohemian suburb of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. It is the location of many restaurants and taverns, which are mostly frequented by students from the nearby University of Johannesburg, located in Auckland Park, and the University of the Witwatersrand, located in Braamfontein. It is one of the city's most popular tourist destinations. The suburb is to the west of the Johannesburg CBD. It is located in Region B of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality.
