Lathom High School is a coeducational secondary school and specialist technology college located in Skelmersdale in the English county of Lancashire. Following an amalgamation of two former schools Tawd Vale and West Bank High, Lathom High was officially opened in November 1988 by Jack Straw MP. It is a foundation school administered by Lancashire County Council. The school offers GCSEs, OCR Nationals and NVQs as programmes of study for pupils.

Newburgh is a rural village and civil parish in Lancashire, England, 3 miles (5 km) from Skelmersdale and 5 miles (8 km) from Ormskirk. Its population in 2011 was 1,056.Newburgh's history can be traced back to 1304 when a licence was granted to start a weekly market. Previously part of Lathom and Burscough Urban District, Newburgh became part of Ormskirk Urban District in 1931 and part of West Lancashire district in 1974. The Newburgh ward comprises the parishes of Newburgh and Lathom. Historically it was part of the parish of Lathom. The village has a conservation area at its centre and includes many historic Carolean and Georgian buildings, including the schoolhouse of 1714. In 2006, it won the Champion Village Class for the second time in the Lancashire Best Kept Village Competition. Accommodation is available at the Red Lion Hotel and there is a post office, village shop and tearoom. There is an Anglican church, Christ Church, founded in 1857, a primary school and two scout groups.Newburgh Village Fete takes place every year in June. Dalton is a village and civil parish in West Lancashire, England, near Skelmersdale and south of the River Douglas. Dalton was listed in the Domesday Book, and soon after the Norman conquest became part of the Barony of Manchester. It remained part of the Manchester fee as late as 1733. Dalton had a population of 348 (2001 Census), increasing to 383 at the 2011 Census.The local landscape is dominated by Ashurst Hill, which rises 570 feet (170 m) above sea level and is crowned by Ashurst's Beacon. The beacon once formed part of a relay league stretching from Everton Brow above Liverpool to Lancaster Castle, which was in place (though unused) during the Anglo–Spanish War of 1585. The current structure dates from around 1800, when local landowner Sir William Ashurst decided that a more permanent beacon was needed for the oncoming Napoleonic Wars.

Skelmersdale is a town in Lancashire, England, on the River Tawd, 6 miles (10 km) west of Wigan, 13 miles (21 km) northeast of Liverpool and 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Preston. In 2006, it had a population of 38,813. The town is known locally as Skem . While the first record of the town is in the Domesday Book of 1086, much of the town, including the current town centre, was developed as a second wave new town in the 1960s. The town's initial development as a coal town coincided with the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century; the town lies on the Lancashire Coalfield.

They are currently members of the North West Counties League Premier Division and play at The Community Ground, Burscough. Our Lady and All Saints Church is a Catholic parish church in Parbold, Lancashire, UK. It was built from 1878 to 1884, and paid for by the Ainscough family. The architect was Edmund Kirby, who designed the church in the Gothic Revival style. According to Christopher Martin in his book A Glimpse of Heaven, the church is "a large and sophisticated exercise in Victorian Gothic which would more than hold its own in Manchester or Preston". It is located on Lancaster Lane in the village. It is a Grade II listed building.

Parbold is a village and civil parish in West Lancashire, England.

Lathom and Burscough was an urban district in the county of Lancashire from 1894 to 1931. It constituted the civil parishes of Burscough and Lathom, and apart from these two villages also included Newburgh. Lathom Local Government District was formed in 1872 when the parish of Lathom adopted the Local Government Act 1858, and a local board was formed to govern the area. In February 1894 the parish of Burscough was added to the local board's area. The area of the local board was subsequently reconstituted as an urban district by the Local Government Act 1894 as Lathom and Burscough, and an elected urban district council replaced the local board.In 1931, the Lathom and Burscough Urban District was abolished under a County Review Order, and its area added to an enlarged Ormskirk Urban District.
