USS YMS-328 is a decommissioned US Navy YMS-1-class (YMS-135 subclass) Yard Mine Sweeper (YMS), built in Ballard, Washington at Ballard Marine & Railway in Ballard, Washington (Seattle). She was classified as a Mark II design and her hull is constructed completely out of 3" vertical grain Douglas fir. Sister ships include Jacques Cousteau's RV Calypso. After serving in the Navy in World War II the boat was converted to a private yacht.

There have been only a few instances of coconut palms growing in the state of California, with the most well-known formerly located in Newport Beach, being a popular attraction for gardening enthusiasts. However, others have been reported in La Quinta and near the Salton Sea.

American Liberty University (A.L.U.) was founded in 1999 in Orange County, California By Dr. Hamid Kevin Soltani. It was founded with its main mission to educate everyone, everywhere. American Liberty University (ALU) is approved by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE; not an accrediting agency) since 2004. Previously ALU was accredited by the BPPVE, which restructured in 2009-2010 as the BPPE. ALU is also accredited in the United Kingdom by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). ACICS is a national accrediting agency recognized by the US Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), but whose recognition by the United States Department of Education was revoked. ALU runs courses in Business Administration (BBA, MBA, Ph.D.) and Oriental Medicine (Ph.D.), Watering Aquatic Plants, Traditional Medicine, Diploma in Acupunctures, CE programs for Dentists, Chiropractors, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine specialists.

The Lido Theater (also spelled Lido Theatre) is a historic single-screen movie theater in Newport Beach, California. The Lido Theater opened in October 1939 and was designed by Clifford A. Balch in the Streamline Moderne architectural style. Edwards Theatres, Regency Theatres, and Laemmle Theatres previously operated the facility.

Ackerman Boat Company was a wooden shipbuilding company in Newport Beach, California. Ackerman Boat Company built small barges in Newport Harbor working with Star D Iron Works, in Santa Ana. To support the World War 2 demand for ships Ackerman Boat Company shipyard switched over to military construction and built: US Army Harbor Tugboats and US Navy Landing Craft Mechanized Model LCM Mark 3. Clarence Ackerman started the Ackerman Boat Company was in 1943. Ackerman Boat Company worked with Consolidated Steel's Wilmington shipyard to build the Tugboat and Landing Craft. Near the end of the war, Ackerman sold the yard to Consolidated Steel but purchased it back in 1947. Ackerman sold the shipyard in 1958. The shipyard was at 151 Shipyard Way, Newport Beach on the Lido Peninsula at the corner of Rhine Place. The current site has been the Newport Harbor Shipyard since 1981, which repairs and restoration of yachts.

Hoag is a not-for-profit regional health care delivery network in Orange County, California, that treats nearly 30,000 inpatients and 350,000 outpatients annually. Hoag consists of two acute-care hospitals, seven health centers and four urgent care centers. Hoag Hospital Newport Beach, which has served Orange County since 1952, and Hoag Hospital Irvine, which opened in 2010, are Magnet designated hospitals by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Hoag offers a blend of health care services that include five institutes providing specialized services in the following areas: cancer, heart and vascular, neurosciences, women’s health and orthopedics through Hoag’s affiliate Hoag Orthopedic Institute.

Lido Isle (mistakenly Lido Island) is a man-made island located in the harbor of Newport Beach, California. Surrounded by the city, Lido Isle was incorporated as part of Newport Beach in 1906. At that time it was part sandbar and part mudflat. There are no commercial facilities on the island other than a small snack bar open in the summer, and its only link to the city is a small bridge. The man-made island is solely residential with approximately 1,800 people living on the island.

South Coast Shipyard was a shipbuilding company in Newport, California. To support the World War II demand for ships South Coast Shipyard built: minesweepers, Torpedo Boats, Submarine chasers, & Air-sea rescue boats. South Coast Shipyard was opened in 1938 by Walton Hubbard. After World War II the shipyard continued to build ships for the US Navy till 1955. The shipyard was located at 2300 Newport Boulevard, Newport, California. The shipyard closed in 1963.

The Balboa Bay Resort is a 160-room resort hotel in Newport Beach, California, United States on 15 acres (6.1 ha). The facility was founded in 1948 as the Balboa Bay Club, a private yacht club. The Balboa Bay Club includes a 130-slip marina, private beach, waterfront pools, private restaurant, a spa and fitness center, and 145 apartments on the Newport Beach Harbor waterfront on the Pacific Coast Highway.

The Crab Cooker is a popular Southern California restaurant specializing in seafood that is located at 22nd Street and Newport Boulevard in Newport Beach on the Balboa Peninsula. The building housing the restaurant was formerly a branch of the Bank of America, whose former logo can be seen embedded in the corner of the building. The restaurant was established in 1951 and is considered a local landmark. In 1969, Venture Magazine rated it as one of the top two restaurants in the world.The restaurant is known for its Manhattan-style clam chowder, skewers of scallops, crab and lobster entrees, oysters, crab and shrimp cocktail, salmon fillet and other fresh fish.

The place of McFadden Wharf was designated a California Historic Landmark (No.794) on July 3, 1964.McFadden Wharf was built in what is today Newport Beach, California, Orange County in 1888. The McFadden Wharf was located at the site of the current Newport Pier. Under Mexican rule the port in Newport was called San Joaquin Bay. Brothers from Delhi, New York James McFadden and Robert McFadden came to California and purchased land. On April 19, 1875 the bought 20-acre of land that was the part of the form Mexican land grant of José Antonio Yorba. The land was on the coast of the Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana. In 1854, the Yorba family sold Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana to José Antonio Andrés Sepúlveda. Sepúlveda later lost the land due to bankruptcy caused by fighting to uphold his land claims in court. In 1869, William Spurgeon and Ward Bradford purchased 74.27 acres (0.3006 km2) of the ranch to form the city of Santa Ana. In 1866 much of the ranch was sold to James Irvine. James Irvine starting ranching on his land and James McFadden used his land for port shipping. The bay was narrow, sand bars, muddy and not deep, poor for shipping. So, James McFadden need a Wharf built out into the bay. With San Pedro port open his port did even poorer. James McFadden asked the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for help in 1887. They told him it would take $1.2 million to improve the port, and rejected the request. In 1888 the McFadden brothers built their own wharf. The wharf was 1320 feet long and 60 feet wide. In 1891 they built the Santa Ana and Newport Railway railroad line from the wharf to the Santa Ana Depot, 11 miles long. A small town call Newport Landing was built near the Wharf. McFadden brothers had 100 employees and the shipping company was at last profitable. In 1896 they purchased more land in what is now Newport Beach. But port of San Pedro was bigger and closer to Los Angeles and shipping decreased. In 1899 James McFadden sold the wharf and railroad line to the Southern Pacific Transportation Company. The rail line closed in 1907. In 1902, James sold the town of Newport Landing, half the Balboa Peninsula, and surrounding swamp lands to Williams S. Collins and C. A. Hanson. Collins, President of the Associated Oil Company, saw the town as a place to make a sea resort, not a shipping port. The team made Henry E. Huntington a partner in the Newport Beach development. In 1905, the Pacific Electric street cars ran to Newport, in 1906, the line continued to Balboa Peninsula and Balboa Pavilion. In 1939 the old McFadden Wharf was removed after being damaged by a large storm in 1928. In 1940 the current Newport Municipal Pier was built.

Victory Shipbuilding was a shipbuilding company in Newport Beach, California. To support the World War 2 demand for ships Victory Shipbuilding built: Tugboats and two sub chasers. Victory Shipbuilding opened in 1943. After World War 2, the shipyard closed. The shipyard was located at 613 Pacific Coast Hwy, Newport Beach. This was one of the few shipyards not on the waterfront.
